- Police detained about 100 people as officials cleared “an unauthorized encampment” on Northeastern University’s campus in Boston, according to a university spokesperson. The California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt campus will be closed and move to a remote format until the end of the semester due to the continued occupation of at least two campus buildings, according to a statement. #CNN #News

I protested in my youth about Education Reforms etc. Our professors agreed with us, but had the adult common sense to ask us to abide by the law and protected us from getting our butts kicked by police when as faculty asked us to go home and vote.

The University operations, services, classes provided supersede the imaginary entitlement to occupy without a permit. Students should not be afforded special on-campus protection. If they want to participate in adult political activities, they can do so at their own risk off campus, on their own time.

Amazing what happens in colleges when some students are facing the finals! Think about it, they spent a third of the semester in a course, took an hourly exam that was worth 20% of their grade. After another third, they got another hourly worth 20%. Now, they are facing that final exam worth 60% of their grade, knowing they don't know shit and will totally flunk it. For people like that, which are a percentage of every class, protests are better than the alternative.
Back in the Vietnam era days, it was, oh, gee, I have to go outside and freeze my ass off, because somebody doesn't want to take an exam and used another bomb threat for that purpose.
