I've been lucky enough to be with my husband for the past 10 years. This song touches me when I think about him. Three weeks ago I was told I have Stage 2 Lymphoma. To me, this song will always display the vocal signature of Leona Lewis.
Being a fan of Leona since her debut back in 2006, I’ve probably listened to this melody a thousand times by now, in studio or live versions, like virtually all of her songs. But it’s not the numbers that count, it’s about the feelings her voice can reveal! It’s about the way the Diva uplifts my spirits when troubled times come, or emotions go deep in my heart…
Your voice did the same, Julia, in so many other moments, but not this time… *_We could never forget our first Love, am I right?_*

I actually never heard Leona Lewis cover of this song until your comment. As of opposite to you, nothing will ever come close of the original from Snow Patrol themselves which is, and will always be (in my opinion) untouchable and the best! :)

Yet no work of art is untouchable, on the contrary, it should be regarded as a source of inspiration for other artists. In this respect, this song could serve as one of the best examples.
Adding sweetness and softness to the interpretation, together with the power of her vocal range, fact is, Leona’s cover became instantly a popular hit, surpassing even the original in the number of views! Interestingly enough, only after this cover Snow Patrol’s composition regained popularity! That should say something… But again, it’s not about numbers!
Honestly, the genuine song gets a little unneedy “noisy” at times, if you want my personal opinion, and your idea of playing it in an acoustic, quality version is so much at praise. My hat down to the team of David and you for recreating a softer, subtler rendering of this beautiful ballad, all without millions of dollars involved, but only from the combined talents of David’s proficiency in guitar playing and your unique, heart-soothing voice!
In the end, Julia, all I’m left hoping is that you’ll see (and see!) my reply… See you! 🤗
