  • I returned to another local fishing spot here in Rhode Island today on the Upper Pawtuxet River, with my fly rod and my NRS Pike 126. This section of river is popular for trout and a few other species. I am already a beginner when it comes to fly fishing, so throwing in doing it from a kayak probably won't help! Hopefully it goes well! Stick around to see the NRS Pike in use and for some of my thoughts on the craft, as well as some beautiful scenery and the best waterfall in RI!

Great video. Been looking at the NRS Pike. Really like that it is inflatable and can be transported. What do you like about it and what don't you like about it? Appreciate any info you can provide.

Thanks and thanks for watching. I have another Pike video if you feel like checking it out if you have not already. Little more info in it. But so far the packability is the main selling point for me. I find it excellent for starting trips. What I mean is if I was going on a river camping trip being able to load the bed of my truck up under the cap vs strapping a boat to the roof is awesome. The thing I dont like so much about it is putting it away lol. Not that it is difficult but I won't put it away wet. So I either dry it before I put it back in the truck, or once I return home I unpack it again and dry it. With a regular kayak you do not have to do that really. That is not that big of a deal though. I will say it is 100 percent a flatwater boat. It is fairly slow so you do not get anywhere quickly. On rough water progress is even slower. But to be fair it is not built for choppy water or big water. The lack of scupper holes sucks a bit too. When water gets in the boat it does not come out. If you are a messy paddler like I am or get in with wading boots that need to drain, you will end up with a bit of water in the boat. Overall I am happy with it. I would likely buy it again. But....I will probably only use it for local fishing in ponds, or slower rivers. I would not enjoy paddling it on a big lake at all. Hope that helps
