Behringer System 100 ~ harmonic drone

- A triple oscillator drone patch with the System 100 and plenty of imperfect harmonics. The all analog nature of the System 100 without quantization is perfect to create outside the box melodies.
Patch notes:
1st VCO: Pitch is controlled by the sequencer (module 182, manually advanced), the pulse wave goes through a VCF (module 121). The VCF cutoff is modulated by an envelope (module 140). The envelope trigger results from a divided clock rate, using the gate delay (module 172).
2nd VCO: Pitch is modulated by two gates (module 173) that are switched by an LFO fed through a S&H (module 150). The two gates output a constant cv to the VCO when switched on, leading to a simple three note sequence. The VCO pulse wave output goes through a VCF (121), modulated by an envelope (140) that is triggered by the main clock.
3rd VCO: Pitch is controlled by the second sequencer row, VCF cutoff receives the same envelope as VCO 2.
The mix of all three voices goes through the phase shifter (172) and some reverb + delay.
This is a perfect example of why I don’t understand those people who give behringer a hard time for making ‘cheap clones’! This is an amazing piece of music..... something that may not have been possible due to the high price and scarcity of original 100m’s..... it goes to show that in the right hands, the possibilities of these things are limitless! Great job dude! 🤘👍
Behringer have knocked it out of the park with the System 100 modules. Quality has been improving for years and it now top notch with these modules. I've had as much problems with Dave Smith/Sequential stuff, and nobody calls them rubbish!
Because modular in general is a very expensive hobby, and Behringer has popped certain people’s bubble of exclusivity, and for lack of a better term, democratized the hobby.
@@CaptainAhorn couldn’t have said it better👍👏👏
I agree 100 percent! I have this set and it’s amazing!
The System 100 modules are sooo nice.
Wow! You can hear the imaginary bass guitar strings vibrations.
Love it!
I thought the same thing.
A real work of art that creates unique soundscapes. I myself am strongly considering getting the Behringer system 100 as my first modular rack for my home studio. Thanks for a nice demo. :)
Beautiful and mournful! The sound has a guitar quality to it. Well done
This such a spellbinding, beautiful composition. It's uncommon to hear such lovely, evocative music produced with a modular system, but you certainly have done so. Bravo.
This is genuinely my favorite synth composition on CZcams. Such a beautiful soundscape.
I love my roland modules.. and the true delight of your sound makes me smile. Lovely.
Great composition - a pleasure to hear. Well done!!! 👋👋👋
It's fun going through your videos and seeing the evolution of your rack
Yeah, started with only a few System 100 modules, as they were hard to get. Used the Neutron and Model D to fill the gaps. Got the System 100 complete by now.
@@synthesizer83 easy to justify you're doing a great job with them
Fascinating piece of music!
Really excellent work! It sounds alive.
very very nice
That was delightful! Thank you!
Sounds great man!
So good!
Excellent...super...well done. Peace...
amazing
Sounds great. Could use some other angle views. Really lost trying to recreate the grey cables from the 150 the 297 and the173 because the cables loop out of view. i haven't come close to recreating any of the sounds yet.
Thanks! Yeah the angle is suboptimal, let me try to reconstruct the part you mentioned: The LFO from the 140 goes into the S&H input of the 150, the S&H clock is the 150 LFO. The S&H output goes to the 297 cv mixer, from where the inverted and the non-inverted outputs go to two gates of the 173. This results in a looped switching of these gates: both off, first on, both off, second on, both off, and so forth. The gates inputs receive a constant cv and the gates outputs go to a VCO, resulting in a simple three step arpeggio for this VCO.
