There’s an interesting story behind this song.
The singer, Melhem Barakat, composed the melody of this song to be played in the day of his death, while him being taken from the church to his grave.
Later, the lyrics writer, a close friend of Melhem, convinced him not to keep and hold the melody for Melhem’s day of death, and to make a song out of this great melody.. Melhem agreed.
This song got recorded in the studio as a “draft”, Melhem never completed the process of recording this song.. his friends worked on finalizing it & released it after 40 days of his passing away.
Melhem is an eastern legend who produced an unforgettable art. Please have a look on the other songs that he composed & singed.

The studio version is amazing, and she was 12 when she wrote Lungs. It was a bonus track on her debut album Just The Beginning. Not sure the last time she actually sang this song, probably years. The quality of the lyrics at 12 made this a fan favorite. Be cool if you critique the studio version at some point
