    This is Hobi's gift to ARMY 💜 The MV felt like we were walking with him on this journey where he was literally dancing on the street and then dancing to JCole rapping and eventually meeting JCole. How far he's come - so proud of Hobi. I love this song

  • @mickeytee9376
    @mickeytee9376 Před rokem +10

    The music video accurately tells his story from start to finish. He starts out literally on the street (as a street dancer), went underground (subway scene) where he joins a dance crew in his home town, and reaching the (roof) TOP and seeing eye to eye with his idol, J Cole (who has been at the top during Hobi’s entire journey). It’s so beautiful! I can’t help but feel so proud!

    A perfect "See you later" song from Hobi. Our humble sunshine gives J. Cole top billing in the MV. I appreciate Hobi telling his story, starting on the street, then dancing underground to J. Cole's rap, journeying through the streets until he's on top, too, meeting his inspiration face to face, artist to artist. No bloated egos , just mutual respect and mutual talent. Thank you, Hobi. 🦋🌞🦋

    I feel like J.Cole might be one of the best rappers of our time. His rap/lyric game is on point, he's never afraid to speak his truth and he's actually a decent beat-maker/producer. Also his lifestyle seems way more humble in comparison to other rappers and I'm not gonna lie, I love how his songs and lyrics don't revolve only around hot women or money or cars and he's a private person. I guess he's the perfect feature and a perfect fit for the very humble Jhope.

    I think there’s a significance to J Hope starting in the subway and walking all the way up to the rooftop where his idol was and ending the video with a handshake between equals. No egos here. J Hope definitely gave the limelight to his idol but he made a wonderful backdrop to J Cole’s bars with his melody and his dancing. I was disappointed at first that he didn’t rap as much but knowing J Hope and BTS, I know this was intentional. I respect that a lot. Global artists with no over inflated egos deserve huge R E S P E C T.

    In kpop once you reach your 30's it is considered old by a lot of younger fans who don't realize 30 is not old at all. But there is no age cut off for being a great music artist. Look how many legendary artists still perform well into their 70's or 80's if their health permits it. Now while I can't predict the future BTS are still in their prime and I don't see them stepping away from music any time soon. I imagine after their military service is completed they will still remain a group but the comebacks as OT7 won't be as often as they have been in the past. I think there will be more balance with their solo endeavors and of course maybe even members getting married/having kids. But I look at a group like the Backstreet Boys where all the members are married and have kids and they are celebrating 30 years as a group this year and they still tour and make music together so I know it's possible if that's what they want to do.

    Hobi’s verse in #on_the_street is deeper than many people think.
    First, you have to know that the child in the mv is hobi. the kid is wearing Air Jordan 11s. Theyre the same pair Hobi owns now.
    Air Jordans are also known as J’s so “J in the Air” is a play on the shoes.
    Air Jordan’s (J’s) are significant bc j.cole mentions the shoes in his song “higher.”
    Meeting j.cole at lolla, hobi mentioned to him that he loves his mixtape Friday Night Lights, especially Higher.
    & Hobi found a genius way to add in that reference to both the lyrics and the Music Video. 👏🏼
    Air Jordan’s (J’s) are significant bc j.cole mentions the shoes in his song “higher.”
    Meeting j.cole at lolla, hobi mentioned to him that he loves his mixtape Friday Night Lights, especially Higher & Hobi found a genius way to add it into the lyrics and MV.
    The child is wearing almost the same outfit as j.cole wears in the MV. This represents how much hobi idolized j.cole and found inspiration in him when he was young.
    At the start, you see j-hope help kid-hobi put his earphones on, pat his head, shake his hand, and wave to him as they both set off walking down their paths. It’s almost feels like he was comforting and assuring his younger self.
    Hobi’s verse starts “My two feet walk willingly, anywhere. J in the air”
    Hobi sets off on a life path that leads him to his destination “j in the air”, represented at the end by him and jcole on the roof. This is where “J in the air” takes on another meaning.
    He’s playing with the fact that they’re both J’s and they’re “in the air” now.
    He gave us a hint at his lolla performance “you can call me J”
    (also, “j in the air” is also a reference to his song Airplane which is about j-hope finding his success after so many hard trials.)
    “For the path I’m on to become one of hope, I give my all. Even my walk was made of Your love and your faith.”
    He’s talking about how he worked so hard and made many sacrifices to make sure that the path he willingly chose to follow, became successful.
    he tells us that it’s bc of our love and faith that all his hard work came to fruition and is what made this path possible.
    “To repay you even from afar, just like a butterfly”
    He references BTS’s song Butterfly in this line.
    His verse:“like a wind that gently strokes me, like a dust that gently drifts along, Youre there but for some reason, I cant reach you”
    bc hes leaving for a while, he wishes to give this song as his message for us to always have & to comfort us while hes unable to be with us.
    “Now, just walk lightly, whenever you want
    Go on hopefully, wherever you walk
    In these streets imbued with someones breath
    I leave my soul and my eternity
    Everywhere (I’ll be)”
    No matter what path we chose, he wants to always be with us to be our piece of peace.
    “Every time I walk, Every time I run
    Every time I move, As always, for us
    Every time I look, Every time I love
    Every time I hope, As always, for us”
    He goes through the mv walking on his path. It shows him as a kid that was inspired by j.cole to him working hard throughout his youth practicing his love of street dance, to eventually climbing up from the bottom to finally reach his destination at the top where he meets and shakes the hand of the man who inspired him from the start.

J Hope even walks out of the subway station that Jay-Z took his name from. Do you think that was a coincidence?

    What a beautiful gift. I could never be a reactor because this had me crying too much. I hope ARMY caught the glimpse of the memorial. It could refer to many sad things, loss in everyday life, people we lost due to covid, but I think most Koreans are seeing it as a reference to the tragedy in Itaewon, especially the setting in a narrow street. I had to check out J. Cole's mv for Simba bc they shot this in the same street.

  • @schafferable
    @schafferable Před rokem +1

    There are so many different aspects to this song and mv. Hobi was inspired and idolized JCole at the beginning of growing into a rapper; JCole waits to meet Hobie when he arrives at Lollapalooza, just to meet him which is saying something especially since he was the only artist who sold out the last night of the concert. In the video J-Hope is still on the streets and working on his dream of becoming a great rapper, J Cole a seasoned lyrical rapper is up on the rooftop and very successful - you don't see him on the streets because he is already seasoned as a rapper and put in his time. The respect that J-Hope has for J Cole - he gives him over a minute and a half to his own 30 seconds of rapping speaks volumes. J-Hope wrote a melody that would showcase J Cole. J Cole speaks J Hopes's name saying this is our world and then Hobi climbs to the roof where J Cole is because he is on his way. J-Hope is an outsider to the western rapping music world and J Cole is saying come on over... like Chris Martin/Coldplay. Oh yeah, one more thing... J-Hope goes back to the subways like when BTS first started, at the end of this mv you see J-Hope coming up out of the subway and then going to the roof with J Cole. One idol encourages and believes in another. There is room at the top for a Korean rapper too who crosses the language barrier. Respect man!

  • @brionyfakatou1620
    @brionyfakatou1620 Před rokem +3

    Don’t worry about BTS aging out of the idol business. Idol Girl groups usually don’t last that long, but Big Bang is into their 30s and they are still putting out new records. Super Junior is in their late 30s and they are still making music. I think members of Shinhwa are into their 40s and they’re still doing stuff together from time to time despite each having their own gigs. So I figure we got at least another 10 years of JHope and BTS before they start thinking of retiring.

      Chicken Noodle Soup, both songs, are important to Hobi since the original song by Bianca was the first song he learned choreo to. I believe at the end of the #jhopeinthebox documentary on Disney Plus, j-hope said that he's 94% done with this "era" and to finish it he's going back to his roots... dancing and will present it as a gift to fans. CNS car = dancing = street dancing = Hope on the street = on the street... I think. 💜
