- Soul Almighty: The Formative Years is a rare Bob Marley album from 1995 containing original vocals recorded by Bob Marley and The Wailers in Jamaica in 1967-8, then overdubbed in New York by the finest studio musicians of the time.
The nine original recordings (four of them previously unreleased) on this Bob Marley album "Soul Almighty" are perfect pick-me-up with upbeat tempos and melodic harmonies to give you a boost of energy and happiness. Bob Marley's powerful lyrics will stay with you long after the recording has finished playing.
These rare Bob Marley songs were called by the New York Post "untapped gems ... one of the year's highlight albums". Enjoy unique and exhilarating Soul experiments by the man who went on to become the King of Reggae. Meticulously restored, sweetened and digitally remastered by their original producer Joe Venneri.

I just came across another Bob Marley 💎 GEM. On this day 2024
Marley and the Wailers created so much outstanding music before reggae was even an idea. This rock steady music is awesome!
lmao -naw, An amazing musician and beautiful person, he's most famous because he and the original Wailers brought Reggae to Europe and America in a way that was palatable to rock audience's. Even Bob himself would tell you to check out his contemporaries like Lee 'Skankin with the Upsetters' Perry and Burning Spears' 1973 debut.. N that's not including all that earlier 1960's Rocksteady like Delroy Wilson, Phyllis Dillon and The Mighty Paragons!
@@michaelducote2509 The fact he did 'big up' his peers doesn't mean rickkinki4624 's statement is false. He DID create so much outstanding music before Reggae, and this Rocksteady IS awesome. There is no mentioning of it being better than other Jamaican legend's music.
This is not rock steady. It's an unconvincing effort to mix early Wailers reggae with US R&B to appeal to a black American audience. It didn't work

😆 I know all these ones,. I loved it at the time them I found out that it's very engineered,. It's not the wailers just samples from bob Marley jamming on his guitar with sometimes some of the wailers

I had the same one. Came in a 3 disc anthology. Once I gave dem a chance, I absolutely loved dees songs.
Bought every album of bob marley and the wailers . Sadly enough my collection of vinyl got lost by overflood of water . I thank you for sharing the great prophete bob marley . And ofcourse subscribed .

Why is the album so obscure? You have to dig to find it. And then you forget and have to dig again. Lost the CD decades ago lol. Some solid tunes in the album that need more exposure and love.

I didn´t like some of the "make up" added to the tracks. Drum fills don't make justice to the original. Anyway interesting work and I feel love on it.
None of the arrangements here had anything to do with Bob... Danny Sims an Johnny Nash recorded the vocals in Jamaica an brought them to America where session musicians added the music...they thought this sound would break Bob in America...at the time every artist in Jamaica was desperate fr a break so this kinda thing happened
