    I only wear pressons. SHEIN has some great ones (always look at all product pictures and look at review pictures before buying. ALSO TRY SEARCHING HANDMADE NAILS - they are the best quality thicker ones and they look like gel or acrylic sets). I do a similar thing but i do a base coat and then A PEEL OFF base coat THEN glue. I put the base on majority of the nail, peel off in the middle leaving a tiny margin and then i use the glue (beetles nail glue is amazing - make sure its not the gel glue but the air dry glue). I leave the little margin because if you put the peel off all the way to the side wall it peels off sooner than you want them to - leaving the margin allows it to grip the perimeter of the nail. then when you want to remove just use a wood stick or cuticle scraper to get under the nail and then peel the nail off or use a peel off base remover solution to loosen the peel off base with less tension. GAME CHANGER.

    5:10 in regards to the importance of leaving a small margin between the base coat and cuticle as well as the sidewalls. I know many here know why but for those of us new to nails don’t know. Im aware of course that you need to make sure no product goes on the skin, this goes without saying, but if someone could explain why it’s important to leave a space between base coat and sidewalls/cuticles, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊

      you answered your own question! Yes, no base coat should touch the skin, because of future allergic reactions and of course- liftings! if the base coat touches the skin, it will not adhere to it like to the prepared nails and it will start to lift from the sidewall or cuticle

    • @MsTwirlyGirly1
      @MsTwirlyGirly1 Před 4 měsíci +25

      One of the most common reasons for this is caused by using press-ons that have a C-curve on nail beds that are flat.
      Flexible plastics that have been molded into a shape will always try to return to their molded shape when deformed.
      When the press-on is more curved than your nail bed and you have to press down on the press-on to flatten it a bit so it makes contact with the adhesive tab, that creates tension in the press-on; that tension is caused by the press-on trying to return to its curved shape.
      That's what makes it pop off.
      If that's what's causing your nails to pop off, look for press-ons that are flatter. Ideally you want the press-ons to make contact with your nail beds without you having to press down on them at all.

    Such great advice. The regular liquid glue that came with press ons was ripping my nails up and the sticky tabs would fall off in less than an hour. Using a base coat is what made all the difference especially with those sticky tabs, now they can last a week. Thank you 😊.

    I've heard about (but never tried) using peel-off base coat on both the natural nails and the inside of the press-ons (only the portion that will be adhered to the nail beds; not the free edge) then using nail glue to attach the nails.
    The theory is the nail glue will attach the nails more securely than the adhesive tabs, but the peel-off base coat will enable you to remove the nails w/o damaging your nail beds AND you'll be able to remove the adhesive from the underside of the press-ons so you can use them again.
    Inquiring minds want to know: does this work?

    • @nickyhowland2641

      I use a thin layer of gel peel off base under a matte gel top coat then apply air dry brush on glue to my nail then adhere the press on. I soak in a bowl of warm water soap and cuticle oil to remove. Takes maybe 10 minutes

    • @MsTwirlyGirly1
      @MsTwirlyGirly1 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@nickyhowland2641 Thanks, Nicky. I knew I'd read about a similar technique somewhere.
      I want to give it a whirl with gel peel-off base on the underside of the press-ons too, to hopefully (🤞) make it possible to reuse the press-ons. (Not a big deal if you're buying mass-market press-ons from KISS, but if you've paid $75.00+ for a custom set it would be nice to be able to reuse them multiple times).
      I want to experiment with all the different methods/combinations to (hopefully) find one that attaches the press-ons securely but allows them to be removed w/o damaging the real nails they were applied on OR the press-ons themselves (if such a combination of methods exists).

    • @nickyhowland2641

      @@MsTwirlyGirly1 I use Madam Glams gel peel off base. I have not had much luck with water based peel off base, I wash my hands too much. I make my own press ons so some of the complicated designs, I keep for another time. If I were paying for the $75 custom sets, I'd probably use the adhesive tabs but I get they aren't for everyone. The tabs come off the press on pretty clean, the method she goes over in this video which works for a lot of people. Peel off base and glue, you would need to clean the underside of the nail with an efile or something to remove the glue which I do with my method on the sets I chose to keep

      Even if you'd applied a coat of peel-off base to the underside of the press-on nail (only the nail bed area of the press-on)?
      That 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 prevent any nail glue from remaining on the underside of the press-on, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 on the natural nail (provided peel-off base coat had been applied there as well).

    I despise the sticky tabs - I find them thick and gummy, leaving spaces between the press on's and my nails evn if I size them correctly, AND they slide around while still adhered. It feels gross and the press on can sort of slide up into my cuticles, irritating them. They last well enough with p;roper prep, but they just feel gross. I use nail glue and have great results.

      The margin should be small and if you prep the cuticle area well , then apply the press on close to the cuticle- this area would be “locked” from the moisture access. However, sometimes there might be a little pocket, depending on the curve of the natural. In this case, I recommend looking for press ons that will match the curve better.

    I have Very thin nails. I would like to be able to grow them out.
    If, I don't want to wear nail polish. Can I just use a nail builder or rubber by itself??

      It seems like most press on nails were designed for flat nail beds 😁 if you have some hollow space underneath , try applying a little bit more base coat in the center during the prep 😉

    Hi Anastasia! I have a problem: I used to do my nails with gel polish. But then I got a severe allergic reaction - thinking it was HEMA! So I got all HEMA free products, from prep to finish. I still got a allergic reaction! So I can’t use any gel related products anymore (I am very sad about it because I wanted to get into it career wise! I just can’t try any other products because I’m so scared I’ll get another reaction.
    I can’t even do other people’s nails with gloves on!)
    So I also do press on nails now. Can I use regular nail polish instead of gel polish for the preparation part?
    Thank you in advance and I just wanted to say that I love your name! It’s so pretty and suits you well ❤️

    I would never use the gel to then add sticky and then nail. It's because you then have to soak your nails with acetone for a while to remove the gel, then use the machine and it'll make your nails weak as well.
    What you can do is prep your nails, then add sticky, then glue and last the nail. mine last 2 wks if you take care of them. I also wash dishes, but the hot water will loosen the sticky, so put gloves on, and it'll last you longer. To remove it, soak them in warm water for at least 20 min and with a nail tool slowly remove the nail. I then add a little acetone in a finger bowl dish for 2 to 5 min and it'll remove the glue. Use a paper towel to wipe off the glue and then with the tool slowly remove the excess glue then soak again. Repeat then use the nail sand buffer to prep and finish your nail. Clean your nails and wash your hands then add cuticle oils to your nails. Leave your nails breath once in awhile. You don't want to catch a fungus. Don't use nails more than 3 weeks. Remember it soaks up water and goes in between the nails. You don't have acrylic on.

    There has to be another way to protect the nails without having to use a UV/LED lamp- I cant use either because when I cure my nails, I get a bad burning feeling! I've tried different UV products- gel polish, builder gel and have tried both UV and LED lamps with the corresponding UV or LED products, I follow the directions and timing, but it burns.
    If anyone knows a better way to protect the nails without needing a UV/LED lamp, I welcome the suggestion.
    I like press-ons better than other methods because its fast and easy but once removing them, the nails look damaged, I also saw a green growth on one of my nails for the first time and it couldnt be removed, just had to wait for it to grow out.

      That’s bc these only work for ppl that do nothing in their everyday life. The tabs DO NOT hold nails on, no matter the prep. As much as I like Anastasia, this video is not it. Press on nails do not last, idc what anyone says. Save yourself the money and effort and just learn to use a builder gel or another method that involves curing of products. And good luck 😊

    • @Nailcou
      @Nailcou  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You can try to adjust them, by filing the cuticle and shaping them, but sometimes it won’t help if there’s too much difference.
      You can try boiling water, just use a copper with a hot water and curved the tips, or the opposite - flatten them . Keep in hot water for 30-60 seconds and then apply on the nail. For making curve deeper: use cap from a pen / marker . To flatten : paper clip / tweezers
