I never liked the Rogue/Magneto tryst. They got close in the 90's comics when they were stuck in the Savage Land and Rogue lost her mutant powers, so she was able to touch Magneto. It's like Xavier getting romantically close to Jean. Xavier and Magneto are both mentor characters. Plus, Magneto is old enough to be her grandfather. Great symbolism where Gambit drops his Queen card. Gambit lost his queen. Sad.

"That was a long time ago Erik." Yikes. Like Reallllllly yikes. Based on the OG series the only time they could have been a thing was when Rouge was with Mystique. Aka: When she was a teenager.
Rogue was in her mid-20s in the original series with this picking up a year after it finished. We saw her as a teenager with Mystique and the incident with Ms Marvel that caused her to leave, but never saw how old she was when she joined the xmen - leaving a window for them to retcon a relationship with him without her being underage and still saying "it was a long time ago"
@@Apocalypse21187 Still, even in a best-case scenario we are looking at a mid-late 50s, maybe even early 60s Magneto starting a relationship with a late teen to early 20s Rouge who was desperate for any form of physical contact.
Rogue and Magneto is like Batman and Batgirl. No one asked for it, no one wants to see it. Lol We’re only curious how the character we like Nightwing/Gambit is going to react to finding out. I genuinely feel bad for Gambit
Agreed, and I think the writers know that too, and I think they may adapt the story in a way that explains how wrong it is and have Gambit as a victim. If they do that, people will love this show.
Yeah, that’s probably a good point. It probably was intentional made to be something tragic. Basically Rogue was in a vulnerable state due to the nature of her powers and despite her feelings for Gambit, she didn’t want to see him get killed if they were ever to kiss. You can tell this will be a relationship based in pain and desperation for comfort. She’s properly crying inside, knowing she probably betrayed Remy. As for Gambit, he started to see himself in Rogue and had done the same on any woman many times, it was here he realized how special Rogue was to him and in a way that’s very emotional rather sexual alone. It’s a bold risk and boy I think the reaction from the audience was just what the writers were hoping for with this being viewed as a very tragic and somber moment.
This is dumb writing for Rogue to cheat on Gambit for a guy in his 70s cause all she has to do for Gambit to touch her is wear a mutant inhibitor collar. It also doesn't make any sense why Magneto is immune to her powers when past depictions have showed he isn't. In the OG series Rogue loved Gambit and jumped in front of a blast shot at him from Bishop trying to kill Gambit.
Magneto is handsome, charismatic, is an omega level mutant who can literally wipe the floor with most if not all the members of the X Men and has all the status and power that comes with it. Yes. Magneto has three kids, Quicksilver, Polaris and ScarletWitch, her age and is a survivor of the Holocaust making him in his 60s or 70s. This cheating is forced for unnecessary drama to tarnish the iconic Rogue-Gambit relationship from the OG X-Men TAS.

I read the Savage Land stuff and nothing happen, they were never together during that time, nothing was shown that they dated, they never said that they loved each other, nothing. What did happen was that Mag was trying to take advantage of her weaken state of mind and lake of powers, where he grabs her arm and Rogue says "You're hutting me!" and he only stops when someone walks in on them. Later in that same issue he says that his hearts belongs to another and he also shows a murdering scum bag he really is.
Really not sure why they keep going back to RogNeto. It's never been a popular pairing in the main universe (as far as I can see), and it pretty much always brings down Gambit and Rogue as characters. Honestly, it's quite baffling how many times they've (technically) gone to the well with it too. The Savage Land was very brief and didn't actually lead to any romance. AOA, but that was an alternate reality. There was also when Joseph (Magneto's clone) came along and made things complicated for Rogue and Gambit Finally, Rogue and Magneto proper got into a relationship in X-Men Legacy despite the fact that in the 616, Magneto had already "mentally raped" (her exact words) Rogue by forcing Gambit's memories into her head (so she could see his involvement in the mutant massacre). This one is probably the worst offender for many Rogue fans.
Oh yikes, I wasn't onboard with this pairing anyway (mostly cuz I ship Magneto with -me- Xavier) but if I wanted to see rapemance I'd be watching my actual soap operas still :|
Ok, for someone that is quite distance to follow DC or Marvel and all the multiverse fuckery (to my surprise, the batman and superman tv show from the 90's seems it wasn't even the original earth, or earth 1 i mean), so that relationship is "canon"? Or from the "main universe"? I mean, was the 90's show and this one even from the "main universe"?
Gambit and Rogue are that one couple that often split for a little while but then always come back together, so this is no huge surprise. I *am* surprised they're retconning in the Magneto/Rogue romance from the comics. That's one that tends to be ignored nowadays. I hope Gambit doesn't run off and end up working for Sinister like he did in the comics because, hoo boy. That goes bad for him.
If he hates Magneto, not counting the Rogue thing, for everything he’s done then objectively he HAS to hate Sinister more because Sinister is comparatively way more vile than Magneto

It turns out he ended up being hurt more than he thought, realizing that he genuinely loved Rogue as well starting to see what’s it like to be her when she does it like he sometimes tends to do with another woman. If anything it’s a moment of realization and self actualization that could lead to some interesting character development for Gambut.
He's my favorite too, but his death was epic. I just wish it was for the Morlocks instead of Rogue. His actions have transgressed them before and he feels guilt and self loathing over it- so he'd have a reason to do it, and the impact would hit Rogue even harder if he was willing to go that far for essentially strangers- and she gave him up because she can't touch him.

Indeed. Rogue isn't that old, what the hell does she define as "a long time ago.".

Super disgusting
Why?

This is dumb writing for Rogue to cheat on Gambit for a guy in his 70s cause all she has to do for Gambit to touch her is wear a mutant inhibitor collar. It also doesn't make any sense why Magneto is immune to her powers when past depictions have showed he isn't. In the OG series Rogue loved Gambit and jumped in front of a blast shot at him from Bishop trying to kill Gambit.
They're not dating so it's not cheating. They're in a situationship, were never official in the show
Magneto is handsome, charismatic, is an omega level mutant who can literally wipe the floor with most if not all the members of the X Men and has all the status and power that comes with it.
Also literally IRL, the vast majority of younger women desire older men and pass up on younger guys constantly as they want a "mature man"

Even if she not with Gambit she should have been open about her relationship with magneto and told Gambit she wants magneto, so Gambit isn't the fool waiting for her
isn’t he old enough to be her grandpa?

This series takes two of the worst tropes of the 90's comics: the clone BS, and the young women dating old men trope.
This implies that they had a thing before the X-Men series started, possibly before Xavier met her.
There was also when Joseph (Magneto's clone) came along and made things complicated for Rogue and Gambit
Finally, Rogue and Magneto proper got into a relationship in X-Men Legacy despite the fact that in the 616, Magneto had already "mentally raped" (her exact words) Rogue by forcing Gambit's memories into her head (so she could see his involvement in the mutant massacre). This one is probably the worst offender for many Rogue fans.
Oh yikes, I wasn't onboard with this pairing anyway (mostly cuz I ship Magneto with -me- Xavier) but if I wanted to see rapemance I'd be watching my actual soap operas still :|
