    "So Young" is by far their best song.

    Modern jesus, the best portugal the man song ever. Now they getting real recognition. I love how they go back to that song.

    I just want them to get on stage and open/close with an Anatomy of a Ghost song *so badly* it almost hurts...

    It's so weird man. All their earlier albums has some of the best songs I've ever heard and have such a psychedelic and trippy rock vibe. To think they wanted to buy a melody after all these years of making music seems... strange to me. It would feel strange getting a lot of recognition finally off of the first melody you didn't write...

      @bellal9856 Před rokem +2

      I think those melodies only enhance the throwback in the song to the past.

      Are you one of those pretentious and condescending people who think that you know what Portugal. The Man’s style is better than the band themselves?

    • @CGMiller
      @CGMiller Před 5 měsíci

      @@NutjobChuck buying a song is not their style… cause like… they didn’t make it… therefore… not their style.. get it?

    • @NutjobChuck
      @NutjobChuck Před 5 měsíci

      @@CGMillerIf you didn’t notice, they made it their own, yes? And almost no song, no-thing in general, starts from scratch. They took inspiration, added their own bass line and everything, it hardly sounds like Mr. Postman. And it’s one of their best songs. Is it one of my favorite songs of theirs? No, but it’s getting on my nerves these people who write off the Evil Friends album and Woodstock because, well… for what? They like to gatekeep and they’re mad that their niche band is getting wider recognition?

    I feel Portugal. The Man fills that one trendy indie rock spot for mainstream audience. Once filled by Gotye, once filled Foster The People.
    and then something new gonna come along the way.
    to be clear, i'm a fan of three of them. but in term of sustainabilty in mainstream audience, i'm kinda skeptic about it.
    I hope i'm wrong.

      Yeah, def heading into one-hit wonder territory. It doesn't help that they're not that great live.

      But they always nailed their acoustics performance

      What venue have you seen them at? It doesn't seem like they are great in those big venues but I have seen them in a smaller performance and it was amazing

      @sweed6054 Před 6 lety +5

      MrTechselect you should definitely check out their older stuff, studio albums and live performances. Both were significantly better back when they weren't in their mid-thirties with children. Anything from 2006 -07 to like 2012-13 is golden and worth the listen.

    • @sweed6054
      @sweed6054 Před 6 lety +1

      daffa wilson the fact they don't use a laptop on stage like most groups says a lot. Check out some of their older live shows from the mid 2000s. Much more energy back when they were in their twenties and not signed to a major label.

    it's so Interesting how John created to be as a songwriter and write his owns song's like this one he put his thought's, feeling's, and emotion's to create a song. Come along with Zach is that he imagens things like how should we do this, and how to put lyrics to a song like this one. You see Collaboration is that you have to get to know Justin better and have to get to know Coldplay better why because you have to introduce your self and introduce a song .

    The way they described how they literally
    Paid for a hit song to rewrite and remarked it as another hit literally is the DEFINITION of SELLOUT
