Today marks the first appearance of Evelyn E. Smith on the podcast. Smith was born in New York City in 1922. She wrote more than 50 short stories, almost all of them appeared in pulp magazines in the 1950s. She is probably best known for her Miss Melville Mystery series in the 1980s and early 90s.
Peruse page 68 in the August 1957 publication of Fantastic Universe magazine and you will find The Most Sentimental Man by Evelyn E. Smith…
Next on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast, Sometimes the queerly shaped Venusian trees seemed to talk to him, but their voices were soft. They were loyal people… Happy Ending by Fredric Brown and Mack Reynolds.

Without divulging any details, the protagonist sure overlooked that one vital thing!
This would have made a good double feature with Ray Bradbury's _The Visitor_ from a few weeks ago.
I've imagined some of the pleasures the narrator describes, like driving the wrong way, going naked in the city on warm days, and best of all living in the public library.
Thanks for listening!!
I know I've read some of her before, but this one will send me scurrying over to the fictionmags index to see what I have in my magazines!
@clarkdissneyer8225 another story I enjoyed narrating. We will be narrating more of her stories in the future.
Modern man's view of natural, uncivilized world ... ... The Gentleman is in for a rude awakening in the future and he is going to have to do a lot of adapting to provide for his basic needs - -
I agree. Thanks for listening!!
I have to say I didn't get on with this one too well. The last place I'd want to set up home would be an abandoned city. Rats 🐀 being one of the first problems and within a few years those giant buildings would become very dangerous as the ice cold winters would start to crumble the unheated structures.
I'd rather find my way up Waltons mountain with a few select items from museums,
Like a small steam engine belted up to a few car alternators for electricity. Fuel can be made from distillation of high sugar content vegetation brew, this would run petrol (gas) engines, oil can also be extracted by boiling up vegetation and skimming what comes to the top for diesel engines Then there's wood gasification, extraction of oil from no doubt tons of plastic 😂 left behind.
Only problem I can envisage would be wild dogs🐕, big cats🐆 and bears 🐻 oh and maybe 🐗.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Have I been thinking about this too much?!?
Any questions before they take me away!
✌♥️🙏🖖🇬🇧
