The Best of the Tick

- Here is a montage of some of my favourite Tick quotes. I wanted to focus on scenes where he is alone rather than with Arthur. I will soon create another one that involves conversations with Arthur such as the infamous "SPOOOON!!!!"
Sorry about the red lettering part way through, I couldn't get rid of it. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I just realized something... The Tick is based off of Don Quixote.
Seriously think about it. He's overly dramatic about everything he sees, and Arthur is like Sancho.
i could see him being quixotic, but his giants are real, not windmills.
Wow mind blown!
It makes sense when you think Don Quijote was pretty much the first "superhero" subvertion
Not a dis!
But, yeah. Kinda obvious. Still, in much the same vein as Darkwing Duck, the Quixotic archetype can be played for a number of angles.
I think the real reason the whole "okay, but what if Superman was evil" bores me so much as a concept... is well... The Tick is a much more interesting take on The Superman concept
The new 52 reboot of Superman that nobody asked for didn't help either. If Superman isn't a boyscout, seeing him go evil in other scenarios isn't that much shocking when he's already an arrogant sociopath with a god complex. It's why Superman and Lois gets so much praise, that was the Superman everyone wanted Henry Cavill to be.
screw superman his very overrated now a days

Superman for life, Superman for the end of time, Superman for the next life and after time ends.
@@VunderGuy I beg to differ
@@VunderGuy I don’t see a problem with that as long as he’s written better than he has been in the last decade
I had forgotten how good that show was ahead of its time
Lies again? Draw Superheroes Itchy Backside
"I don't know the meaning of the word 'surrender'! I mean, I _know_ it, I'm not dumb, just, ya know, not in this context."
3:06 "Gravity is a harsh mistress"
I want that on a t-shirt
I remember me and my kids laughing so hard everytime he yelled "SPOON"!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like how the aliens know how to explain things to him.
Oh man, that's the pit!!
He's better at monologuing than fighting.
If he was in Infinity War we wouldn't have needed Endgame because he would have whooped Thanos
"Destiny's powerful hands have made the bed of my future! And it's up to me to lie in it!"
My favorite Tick line "You can't eat the Earth! Thats where I keep all my stuff!"
This cartoon NEVER made any sense to me as a kid but for some reason, I had to watch it. Now I know why as most of Tick's dialogue flew over my child brain (my uncle would always laugh when she saw this cartoon). One of my favorite moments was when Tick wound back his fist at a door, like he was going to punch it open, only to gently knock on the door instead 🤣
how tf is your uncle a she?? mf thats your aunt
The Amazon Prime show definitely did a great job at replicating the cartoon.
You know this depiction of the tick is so hilarious I put them in a category with someone like Batman or wolverine one of the greatest superheroes ever
I had a phase about this cartoon and I even made OCs for it.
These OCs, in particular, are known as The Panda Sisters: Pandy and Pandora, as younglings; they lived with their grandmother after their parents are nowhere to be seen (presumably dead), throughout their childhood; the sisters learned from their grandmother about the zodiac animal spirits and their elemental abilities, but during the sisters' teenhood; their grandmother fell ill and after one final breath, the grandmother passed away, leaving the girls alone, and there Pandora (the oldest sister) must keep a fair eye at her youngest sister Pandy throughout their teenhood.
Then at their adulthood; the girls moved out of their rural home and into the streets of New York (or whatever city The Tick is set in), they got themselves an apartment and mostly kept their rural themes, and everything seemed normal for them until some wannabe-evil-supermind villains roamed the streets, Pandy and Pandora witnessed this from their window and on the news, they thought that what they're looking at is almost like an action-superhero film, which that assumption turned out correct when The Tick and Arthur came into the scene, then after that ridiculous takeover; Pandy was almost daydreaming which lead Pandora to confusion, but shrugs it off as just love-at-first-sight scenarios.
Weeks after that, Pandora was practicing herself at karate and kung-fu while her sister just watches while writing and drawing some sketches, then after training; Pandora finally asks her little sister of what she's doing, and as she asks it, Pandy immediately blushes and shuts her book loudly, stuttering ''Oh! It was nothing! I was just head-over-heels at that moment!''
Pandora, being the supportive sister as she is, told Pandy that it's okay to tell some things that aren't meant to be hidden, so with confidence; Pandy told her sister that she had a massive crush on The Tick and was trying to hide it because she's afraid that she might be laughed at by others, but Pandora encourages Pandy that it's alright and that no one isn't gonna laugh at her.
So overall, these girls are meant to be made-up love interests for our heroes but after my Tick phase has faded and left to dust, there's a misopprotunity to add them to some original works, like in a original work heavily inspired by mature comics but yet, it's great to look back at your old OCs and wonder ''Hey, that would fit perfectly in some original works''.
Dude, i glazed over it, but you need to write this
I read the entire thing. And I can see, dimly, the world you've made. That's really good! You have a knack! Go go go! Make something and let us know, we are happy to help if you need a hand!
*when the tick is being drawn in a comic book*
The Tick: EGAD THERE IS A GIANT MAN BEHIND ME!!!
This dude crunches rooftops underfoot, what's his bill for crimefighting look like?
No wonder he keeps a secret identity. No mailing address that way.
The bill goes to Arthur.
No secret identity, he is simply... The Tick
Lampshaded when he goes on an exchange trip with a superhero from Belgium and finds their government more protective of their architecture; looking beyond, of course, the fact that his constant destruction is already meant to serve as part of the superhero parody to begin with.
The Tick, what if we combined Adam West camp into a Superman who seems to have taken a kryptonite brick to the head.
I'd love to see a Earthworm Jim and the Tick crossover in the near future lol
I've been suggesting Tick vs Earthworm Jim to Death Battle for years.
I plan to go back and watch the show again, but I personally found the comedy in Earthworm Jim to be a bit more... shall we say, mean-spirited then that of The Tick.
I'm reserving judgement until I get the chance to watch the show again, beyond some CZcams clips. Haven't actually watched a full episode since I was a kid.
I'm very familiar with this show, however, and I'm always happy to watch it over again.
I never caught this show much as a kid but the times I did…it was pretty enjoyable
I miss this show. So hilarious.
and this is obviously where the crimson chin came from
I wouldn't be the least bit shocked. I can definitely see all the similarities between them.
Jelly Butterfree and im an idiot for never noticing that.
and in hindsight it's painfully obvious since crimson chin is just the tick but a red costume without anthenas

The Tick is better IMO
Just from 1 minute i can already tell this show is peak
They need to bring this and the live action back pretty peas
Your actually in luck they have the cartoon series on prime video I also love this cartoon it made my childhood I use to have all the trading cards
Best show from my childhood. It made me who I am today.
My too and it still today, Tick was and still one of my heroes today.
Who...Or what? Huh?
Tick is almost as great as a role model as he is at getting konks on the noggin. Freakazoid is cool too, imagine the crossover. Heck you might as well throw in Batman too.
I miss Ed Asners voice.
Anyone else thought he was gonna land between his legs on that flagpole?
I sure did!
I need a cross-over between The Tick and Earthworm Jim.
How can you not love the Big, Blue Bug of Justice? The Wild Blue Yander? The Tall Guy in Blue Underwear!? THE TICK!
"A-ha! I'll bounce off that flagpole and flip to safety!"
*flagpole breaks*

or... Maybe not...

Bill Fagerbakke would've been a great choice to voice The Tick, but this guy did a good job too
The Guy Who Did Voice The Tick Was The Original Voice Michelangelo From Ninja Turtles Townsend Coleman
@@RandomManIncorperatedkanaya homestuck
fr, I wonder what that would've been like
Coleman and Fagerbakke would later work together on Transformers Animated, with them playing Sentinel Prime and Bulkhead, respectively.
In addition to that, Sentinel's design was actually based on the Tick, down to his primarily blue color scheme.
"gravity. she is a harsh mistress..."
if they bring him back he has such a great anf funny character he probably would be as comical as deadpool.
In the comics he pretty much was the Deadpool of his time.
he was pretty much the first "funny" superhero.
He's back
SPOOOOOOON!!
NEAT!
Whone scoop of justice coming right up!
Captain Qwark in a nutshell
OOOOH, Qwark WISHES he was even HALF as heroic as the mighty Tick, he'll leave an itch to his buffoon's hindquarters he can't EVER scratch, and that itch is: Justice!
I like the humming in the elevator scene. A nice pause.
Now I want to rewatch the original fox kids cartoon and Venture Bros after I finish the Amazon Prime show.
Anyone remember this on replayed on Comedy Central back in the day?
He really needs his own film.
Well, soon after your comment, he did xD
ChilliFox yep a shitty one lol
Well he's getting a tv show now lol
He got a live action series...but that sucks
José David Catemac No it doesn't, it's great..
An all time GREAT cartoon. The live versions were great too.

The Tick 'manspreading'
The Tick is my favorite anime.
Gaming With Alan its not an anime lol
@@CaptHotah
It is anime. In Japan when kids watched this they called it anime.
Japanese people shorten English words. They turned animation into anime. So if you go to Japan Tom and Jerry is considered an anime, as is Bugs Bunny etc.
@@Riskbreaker_Riot In English, the term "anime" is an abbreviation for "Japanese animation." While the Japanese may use the term to refer to all animated shows, it has a different meaning for us.
@@AndrewWhite6969
Well over here in the USA anything that's animated is called a cartoon. So doesn't matter if it's USA, Japan, Australia, UK, it's all cartoons.
@@Riskbreaker_Riot Yep! But not every animated show is called an "anime" in English-speaking countries. We use that term specifically for Japanese animated shows, because they have a distinctive style.
This was my childhood hero.
Not batman
Not spiderman
The tick
Good choice. Freakazoid is cool too. Imagine the team they would make. And throw Batman into the mix, make it fun.
I miss this show lol
The Tick was the original himbo and I love it!
awesome!! i used to love this cartoon. something made me think of it and i thought let me see if i could find him on youtube and here he is! thank you!!
Watch the new live action one on Amazon. It's good.
If you concentrate hard enough you can teach the algorithms to serve you. And they like it.
It's like teaching them to read your mind. And maybe they already do.
I haven't seen this since I was really little 😭 Thanks to who ever posted this. 😊 Much Love and again thanks 😊 ❤️
Why has this show aged vastly better than 2010's Cartoon Network shows?
Because it's so good.
What Cartoon Network shows haven't held up for you?
I can't believe this video doesn't have a spoon comment yet, so here it is:

The amount of home roofings he ruined almost makes me thinking that he is a vilan, ewentually.

"You may ask it ONE question..."
"Ok, uh... How ya doin'?"
Still, great video, I love da tick...
On a scale from 1 to 10 in terms of invulnerability, the tick is at least a Nokia or higher. By comparison I would put superman between original Gameboy and eight.
Yeah, the Tick's invulnerability is weird. He's nigh invulnerable because he can't physically be damaged by anything. The rub is that while he can't be damaged, he can still feel pain. He can jump off the tallest building in the world, and scream in pain when he hits the ground, but he'll also suffer no bruises, broken bones, cuts, or anything. Which makes the whole thing not make much sense, since a lot of that "pain" would come from the damage your body would suffer.
That's why he can be knocked unconscious if he's hit in the head hard enough (though it'd have to be really, superhumanly hard) but he also won't suffer any actual damage to his head or brain. The Tick is weird like that.
The hero we need. I pity fools that didnt study the tick in thier formative years.
Man I forgot how awesome this show was when I was a kid, I'm watching the amazon prime series now but I don't really recognize any of the other heroes, where is deflatormouse and american maid?
Tied up in legal red tape.
I'd judge the spelling of Die Fledermaus, but my childhood self misheard it the exact same way.
