I just recently realized that I had the chance to see this. I was on a class trip to NYC in May 2001 but I had no idea that this show existed, or how amazing it was. What a shame. The upside, though, was that I got to see Christopher Sieber as Gaston in "Beauty and the Beast." Of course, being the naive teenager that I was, I was excited because I got to see the dad from "Two of a Kind." I wish I could go back in time and slap some sense into my younger self.

When she says " I've been poor. I've been rich." I think of when her dad disowned her and she was broke

Donna McKechnie (originally in A Chorus Line and some other musicals) ... one of the few that had a career after ACL!!!

The show ran from February - June 2001. It was nominated for all the major TONY Awards (Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score), but it was up against that other musical, so it got screwed. It at least should have won for Best Score. But, at least Ed got his dream. :)

Incidentally, the woman singing at the beginning is the wonderful Randi Graff--the original Fantine in Les Mis.

I actually thought that she only was in Grey's anatomy, it's really weird to see her like that now, but I think they should've let her sing in Grey's Anatomy, because her voice is really amazing.
