This song gives me an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and brings a tear to my eye. When I was around 5 or 6, my dad would work half days on Fridays so he would pick me up from school and take me to get ice cream, go to the mall or go to the park. In the car, he would play his favourite 70s, 80s, and 90s songs that we would both sing a long to including this one which was one of my favourites. Up until today I forgot about this song and haven’t heard it in years but I heard it playing again for the first time today when I stopped at a drugstore and it unlocked one of my very few precious childhood memories. Love you dad ❤

I loved this song from the second I heard it played everywhere around the CNE in 1994.
It is bittersweet to hear this song now that I met, and lost my very own Jane.
She works at a store. I was dazzled by her smile. It wasn't long before we pretty much lived together.
She was divided, but I couldn't decide which side I was on. The side that wanted me, or didn't. The side I wanted to be with, or the one I didn't. Owing to her crippling anxiety over relationships she was always pushing me away. I was a coward when I stayed and put up with the pushing, and a traitor when I let her have her way, and left.
I brought her presents, took her places, endulged her quirky side, she sometimes thought I was patronizing her, when I wanted to show her that I cared.
I often felt like I was 14 again. She made me feel young, and full of vigor and hope. With her unpredictability, I just as often felt confused and unsure of things...again, much like when I was 14 and figuring out relationships.
She thought it would be cooler if we just stayed friends. ...until she wanted more again.
She was damaged by previous relationships with guys who weren't willing to put in the effort. She doesn't think any man is different.
She didn't give me a chance to succeed or mess up.
She is desired by people at her school and work. Guys fall for her, and some get hooked like I did. Trying to prove you are different, I guess puts you in the category of a "lovesick jerk".
It was a heck of a Rollercoaster ride while it lasted. Dating a woman with mental health issues is not a bowl of cherries, that's for sure.

But the name came from the corner of Jane Street and St Clair Avenue West which the song's co-writer TinTin Duffy thought sounded like the a pretty name for a not so nice street corner (that corner is crackhead central).

Christine VonSteeg Byrd Great for him that he had parents with such good taste. I have two confessions, though: 1) I only really like BNL when they're standing still and being serious (as they are here); 2) I'm actually 53!

I always imagined Jane was a closeted gay girl who was putting up with boys because she felt like she had to, but wasn't really into them because she secretly liked girls. But maybe that's because I was a closeted gay girl who was putting up with boys because I felt like I had to, but wasn't really into them because I secretly liked girls and had a crush on Jane. Still do! 🥰

I love the irony of this song. This was written about a girl who worked at a health food store on the Danforth in 1993, but the name was named after the corner of Jane St and St. Clair West in Toronto's west end. The song's co-writer being TinTin Duffy (the original singer of Duran Duran before Simon LeBon) thought this sounded like the most "beautiful street corner in the world" (it's not BTW - I used to drive a bus around that part of town and I would have driven faster if I didn't have kids on board!).

True but they never cared about the “fame” aspect of it. Only the enjoyment of each other’s company, the music, and bonding with their fans.
For every post Steven Page show of theirs I saw live, none of “what used to be” mattered in those moments. In fact, Steve not being up there was always at the back of my mind!

Not likely to ever happen, since Steven is suing Ed & their publisher for illegally witholding Steven's Big Bang Theory royalties to the tune of over $1million (allegedly). If true, it proves that Steven is far better off without certain con artists named Ed in his life...
