I played this game for a long time, up until I started having nightmares about it. Where I was the killer, being infinite looped by survivors.
The scariest thing in DbD isn't the killers or their designs, it's the state of the game.

Mine is usually getting stun by a pallet and getting teabaged as I chase em then I hear all the gens are done.

Always strange to see DBD mentioned outside the community. For a six year old game with a sizeable streaming presence nobody I've ever mentioned it to knows wtf I'm talking about.
I started playing Overwatch when it released (May 2016) and DBD released less than a month later. Never, ever heard anything about DBD’s existence until the Trickster was released (end of March 2021). Was very surprised at how the DBD community is such a hidden community, yet also somehow so popular?

That's the internet community. R-rated content doesn't get around as much and creates a slight bubble.

@@KURRDA I think it's because it's just a good game to play in between the big releases of AAA games. Most people I know only play it in spurts or when a killer they like gets released, so only a few months a year. But after 6 years they have like 2500 hours so they'll never truly leave it completely.
What a fantastic video to wake up to. Also, the other players are, for a fact, more dangerous than the actual killer…
The real killer is the friends we made along the way

Was on a hook. Just about to enter Stage 2. Killer is nowhere near me. I have Kindred, so everyone should see the Killer if he is close. Fellow survivor approaches me while crouching. Killer is still nowhere near. I'm about to enter Stage 2. Guy still crouches and takes his sweet ass time. I enter Stage 2. Guy pulls me off the hook one second later. I want to smash his skull.
"Do YOU want to feel exactly like you're in an abusive relationship without actually being in an abusive relationship? Do YOU want to think 'Please, no more!' after every match?"
Everytime i start the game it takes me at lest a minute to convince myself of "yeah this is gonna me be fun this time for sure and i wont hate humanity after this this time"

I mean there's a reason hide and go seek has survived for decades (centuries?), it's a very simple to understand and play game that's extremely addictive. Putting it into a video game form, giving it a horror dressing for that sweet sweet Pewdiepie/markiplier screaming youtube/twitch money and then letting people go nuts is obviously a winning combination.
Perfectly summarized why this game became so popular
As a survivor, I get the adrenaline rush of running from danger or hiding from it (nothing like going into a locker in Midwhich and a few seconds later, Billy runs by).
As a killer, I get the thrill of the hunt.
I just want to spend more time with Quentin. He has such a wonderful face. Sometimes I dream that he pulls me aside at the campfire and asks me if I want to go fix a gen with him.
I say, "Oh Quentin, but what about the big scary killer? Who will protect me from getting downed, who will rub my back when I'm hurt?"
He cups my face in his strong, firm - yet impossibly loving and gentle - hands and whispers, "Don't worry baby, I'll body block for you whenever you need me to. And I'll always be there for the clicc clicc save. I'll be so toxic we'll have the killer running from us."
That's where I climb onto his lap so I can sit on top of him, and we show each other our intimate, undying passion for one another. Just imagining how his lips would feel on mine as he has his way with my body gets me through the endless trials of the fog.
That's why I like to play dbd.

Fun fact: The intended genre for dbd was Horror, but after a lot of reconsidering Behaviour decided to put it in the bully simulator genre

At least they made sure their knowledge of the game is the most up-to-date.
They wanted to do it five years ago, but every it was about to happen, a FNAF game came out and they had to re-schedule.

ive been playing this game for 4ish years now and was watching some gameplay the other day, i could not think about anything other than the fact so many of us are so obsessed literally just with a virtual game of chase😭i had a whole existential moment about it
yea every now and then i never touch the game then come back to it to grind out the new perks and killers 😭

Played And Streamed DBD for months and was only jump scared when playing the killer. Pallet stuns are loud and jarring AF. The true monsters are the survivors hiding…waiting to stun and blind you as your walking home from a long day at the (human) meat plant. True evil.

I did not realize how much I looked forward to hearing the re-introductions of the horror bad guys. "Pinterest" LOL.
You missed 'Get looped around a pile of junk for 30 seconds, only for Survivors to drop a pallet, then run to the NEXT pile of junk with a pallet while you're breaking the first one'. It's 80% of the Killer experience.
10% is 'Eventually get close enough to hit someone, only for them to press E and restart the above loop.'
And the last 10% is 'Finally down them, only for them to have Decisive Strike, stun you for 5 seconds because it was never fixed after they buffed it for Enduring, then changed Enduring to ignore it, and restart the above loop.'
And 100% of Killer experience is 'If you don't kill anyone; get insulted. If you kill anyone; get threatened and insulted.'
I still don't get what part of DbD makes my monke brain go wacky to keep me playing it with how it always makes me hate ot by the end of a play session
And then there is Nurse... who ignores all of that. Pallets are decorations. E can be wrongly timed and be useless. You hit her with decisive strike? No problem, 2 blinks she got you.
But that’s why I like to play trapper, to stop the pallet thing

I mainly play Killers, and though I hate SWF, I feel terrible when I find out there was some odd-man-out who was used as a sacrificial lamb.
