How to: Replace Toyota side indicators with LEDs (2 options)

I had to replace the side indicator (blinker) bulbs on this Yaris Mk2 (AKA Vitz, Echo) and was not impressed to find they're a sealed unit wherein the bulbs cannot be accessed. Three choices then: break the lens off and replace the incandescent T10 bulbs, replace with retrofit LEDs, or do it the best way with these replacement LED upgrade units.
The units featured are for Yaris, Rav4, and Auris, but other cars will be a similar story.
If you want to retrofit T10 LED bulbs, I recommend the Philips ones shown in the video.

Both of my side markers were destroyed in a hail storm. I was wanting to get some eBay LED ones but I was worried about hyper flashing. Thanks for the helpful video 👍

You can now try to change non-hyperflashing signal indicator bulbs on both the front and the rear now. It does make the car a tad modern as well!

Do you know a way to turn the turning lights into US-style side markers? like, to keep them always on and to let them flash when activating the turn signal

Hah well anything is possible. They would have to have permanent power (or connected to the front side-lights circuit), and the existing indicator power redirected thru a relay that turned them off instead of on. It may not be legal tho depending on where you are. US side lights are farther forward nearer the corner, as distinct to side indicator repeaters.

I have a slightly different unit for the Yaris mk1, looks difficult to get off/re glue, worried (as it cost £12.00!) That I'll break it in trying!!!

I have led bulbs all around including these ones you showed and sometimes when i turn the indicator right it is lagging.
I have also installed led relay
