- Sweden is banning religious schools, as a new bill prevents private religious schools from expanding. But it appears the law has only targeted Islamic institutions. Is this move Islamophobic, or does the government have a right to protect its so-called 'democratic values’?

There is a difference. Sweden is democratic nation with freedom of religion and no state religion (Secular). This is not the case in Saudia, Religion is not separated from the state. Non-Islamic religions are not allowed to be practiced in public BUT are allowed in private. All Christians practice their religion in close compounds and the Saudi Govt. knows that.

When you are in any Arab country you have to follow their rules, regulations and laws whether you are Christian or Hindu. But when a Muslim is in any other country why can’t you follow their laws ? Arab countries are not democracies so why would you expect Muslims in those countries to be democratic. As for these democracies claiming freedom of religion, what it really means is that you can practice religion freely as long as the government approves what is taught, which is similar to Arab Muslim countries. Democracy is frail, easily manipulated, highly corruptible, and weak and not able to be academically challenged by Islaam.

I am extremely glad that swedish people take brilliant steps to maintain their own culture. One immigrates to a new country only when they decide that newly adopted country has better culture than their birth country. They came to a new country to absorb new culture. If one finds that new culture is not suitable and they made a mistake, they are always free to revert to their own culture in their own country of origin. I know of many Bangladesh and Indian families after coming to USA had gone back to their own country. Swedish immigrants were Refugees from other countries and we're accepted by swedish people as a charity and now they want to change swedish culture to their own. Why can't they go back to their wonderful countries of origin. Saudi Arabia does not allow any new church in their country. How these immigrant Muslims should be allowed to have their own mosques in new country. This is never a discrimination. It is the maintenance of civilization. No body wants to go back to the barbaric ages again after being in civilization.

I don't understand how Sweden (and some countries in Europe) expect them to integrate when they allow having their own schools, religion should be taught at the mosques, and tradition and culture taught at home by their parents. I’m Swedish. When I was young we allways had the school graduations in church, even if not everyone was christian. Some schools did not, but most did. Then most schools changed it to have the graduation in the school instead because they wanted to be more inclusive to other religions/ atheists.
Most schools also stopped singing our swedish national anthem in aswell. We used to learn it in music class and sing it on graduation days.

Some schools which are typically located in social democratic districts suggest that the national anthem for example is a discriminatory way of excluding non ethnic Swedes. They might argue that the any part of Swedish culture being enforced on the immigrants are to been seen as discrimination and therefore they might chose to cancel the national anthem or school graduation in churches for example.
Now a lot of other Europeans on the internet is calling the Swedes “stupid” or other insults because we are not keen on defending our values and traditions. However, there is a large disconnect between politicians and the population. Most Swedes are seriously upset on the political establishment for allowing this all to happen.
In the time period 2011-2017 the political elite promoted multiculturalism however without proper immigration and assimilation. Now e few years after the big migration wave, 20% of the population are foreign born people and the lack of stricter requirements for citizenship is playing itself out in our society.
Gang crimes, shootings, rapes have all increased in in the last 10 years due to the lack of proper assimilation and requirements posed by Swedish authorities.
Furthermore, Sweden is one of the most politically correct countries in the world (world value survey, 2023). To suggest that immigration was the main cause of this problem was deemed racist, facist, alt right and so on. Nowdays we have roughly 60 suburban areas in Sweden were parallel societies exist separated from the majority society were the Swedish police does not longer have the state monopoly on violence and crimes are steadily increasing.
I’m not in the least suggesting that people from muslim countries are unable to adapt to western democratic norms and values if told what the rules are and properly integrated into the Swedish society. But the lack of requirements and insensitives to become part of the Swedish society has turned large parts of the immigrant communities to become so segregated that its now making news internationally.
All politicians in the Swedish government are to blame for this (from the left to the right). They wanted to show solidarity with refugees but had no plan on how to integrate them ones they arrived and now the Swedish Democrats (anti-migration party) has doubled there support in the last 4 elections. More and more people are experiencing a higher degree of fear for their own security which was not the case just 10 years ago.
Personally I believe that no political party at the moment has any real solution on how to deal with the problems. And I think that things are going to get worse in the preceding future. It might get better but it will take at least 1-2 generations before the problems caused are back to normal and every politician is promising solutions that are too short-term thought out.
Personally I am thinking of moving to Denmark or Norway to start a family in the future where the risk of one’s family member’s to be victims of crimes are significantly lower and I still get to live in a Scandinavian country with almost the same culture and language.
Ps. If someone doesn’t believe me about the crimes that has increased please feel free to check at the statistics on the governments own agencies and institutes that are responsible for reporting on crime at (brå.se), you can change the language settings to English.
@@danielhakansson1911 that's tragic to hear. Aa a norwegian we are witnessing the same thing here, though I guess not at the level of Denmark or sweden, atleast yet. But we are also witnessing a rise in crimes like gang violence and rape and assault etc. It's horrible to see, and of course the statistics of which group commits these types of violence is not hard to find. With most of it circling around the A gang and the B gang and others like them, and not hard to find who is a majority ethnicity of said gangs. I truly hope and wish that norway will see what is happening in our neighbors countries, sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, britain, and wisen up quickly. I was forced by my parents to go to a Catholic school. Even though I didn't feel very religious, I still had to attend mass and we were asked PRAY before each lesson. Good for Sweden! I am an immirgrant and my parents were refugees. Christian schools have buddist, jewish, muslim, athiest, and transgender students. Muslim schools can do well academically but schools are not just academic but social. YOu heard the muslim guy say it Swedish, German cultures are up for discussion. IT IS NOT!
We immirgrated to a secular country but ended up living in a predominant muslim community. They complained about anything that they felt did not align with their muslim values. Muslim values seem in conflict with secular values. WHY DO YOU WANT TO live in secular countries if you do not want to integrate. Probably because the Muslim religion does not belong as part of the Swedish culture. Swedish people have the right to reject Muslim culture as much as Saudi Arabia bans Christianity from Mecca. I am Iranian and I fully support closure of religious schools in Sweden. Other countries should follow this example, specially when it comes to muslim schools.

Christian and jewish schools should be allowed. There are no issues for society with Jewish and Christian schools. It's the opposite, they are good for society in general. I think it's deeply important for Sweden to protect it's cultural, ethnic, linguistic and national identity with its own codes and values. There is no such thing as Islamophobia (a phobia is an irrational fear). We have laws in Sweden that are fokus on protecting children. From birth to adult age. And one of them is that every child have the right to same education. "Baning religous schools"... I wish, but that's not the fact. There are smaller regulations introduced because some religous schools (mainly islamic) doesn't live by the rules of schools in Sweden and the issues are mainly caused by religious approach.
In my opinion, there should not be religious schools at all in a secular and democratic country as Sweden.
