This husband-and-wife team has crafted not just a dwelling but a narrative of ecological harmony and architectural innovation.
Khondaker Hasibul Kabir, a BUET and UK-educated luminary in the realm of landscape architecture, turned his expertise toward the rural canvas of Jhenaidah, creating spaces that resonate with both the heart and the habitat. His pioneering work "The Platform of Hope" underlines his ethos of integrating community needs with environmental stewardship. His academic journey, a blend of local insight and global perspective, has established him as a vanguard of rural and sustainable architecture.
Suhailey Farzana, a graduate of BRAC University and an alumna of the University of Vermont's SUSI program, is a community architect whose design philosophy is as deeply rooted in local traditions as it is forward-thinking. As a Parween Rahman Fellow, her work has become synonymous with gender equity and grassroots empowerment in the built environment. Her approach is a dance of co-design with the community, fostering self-reliance and nurturing the local ecosystem as illustrated in projects like the Jhenaidah Citywide People's Network.
Their home in Jhenaidah is more than a structure; it is a microcosm of their beliefs-a living, breathing entity that evolves with its surroundings. It is a hub of innovation where the future of architecture is shaped by the hands of those who dwell within and around it. I just love how it just blend into that place . Very inviting and soothing. Also the landscape around that house is very organic. Maybe that’s how every structure should be designed so it can co exit with its natural landscape without ruining it .
