Very true what Dr Cucuzza says about Calvinists never having assurance. Watched a rather painful video hosted by Leighton Flowers showing a clip of John Piper (Desiring God) trying to give reassurance to someone who said he badly wanted to believe in Jesus but couldn't. JP made a complete dogs dinner of it because he simply could not do it. Not due to lack of personal talent to communicate but because his theology forbade it. He said something along the lines of God will give you faith if that is what he will do. So you need to trust in him giving you faith (hence you can't offer faith by belief in God for salvation because that is decisionism and fake and synergism). It was horrible to hear. As it is, this man was probably not ready to become Christian if he flatly didn't believe in the Gospel message, so there was no basis for repenting from being in a Stateof Adam, but as he was asking this question he was on the right lines otherwise he wouldn't be there. He obvious wants to believe, he just need to pray, which God will hear. But John Piper gave him no encouragement, he only made him feel helpless - as if the matter was entirely out of his hands and the caller's prayers would fall on deaf ears unless God had already decided to save him before the foundation of the world. He just needed to wait and see if that was true. Now he will live each and every day, perhaps the rest of his life worried that God won't give him faith and so he will burn in hell.
Calvinism is cruel and sick. Evil, I think.

Refreshing to hear clear presentations of correct church doctrine! Rightly dividing salvation verses from discipleship verses in scripture is critical to understanding the Gospel. Thanks for mentioning all those famous pastors. One doesn't have to listen them for very long to hear a confusing message/sermon/Gospel.

    Great message pastor - thanks!
My old pastor (A.R.S.) used to say "Turn or Burn, Try or Fry, Forsake or Bake!" Which sins do you have to quit and how long do you have to keep from doing them?
In 1988, John MacArthur published The Gospel According to Jesus, which espouses Lordship Salvation. It became a best-seller.
I've been reading a book by Bob Wilkin: A Gospel of Doubt, The Legacy of John MacArthur's The Gospel According to Jesus.

I sat under many that had the turn or burn doctrine. I had one Pastor that would tell us we must make a 180 degree turn from sin or we were destined for hell.
I was in a bad way but I asked God to show me the truth. He did. He brought me into a correct view and understanding of salvation.

God bless you and your church. I spent over a decade nearly going mentally ill because of Calvinist madness that made life seem like a nightmare. I can not BELIEVE the insanity Christians tolerate in their preachers, television or books in recent times. Christians like you have eliminated religious nonsense and made the good news, good news again. Sadly most of the church in the Seattle area where I am are cults or Calvinist. This can not go on much longer, the end is near -- at least any sober person would hope so.

I deffinately want to thank you Pastor for being open and honest about pointing out the teachers putting out these false doctrines and gospels. JACK Hibbs is a huge one for me, he used to be better but in recent years he's turned toward lordship salvation and works based salvation so heavily. The crazy part is he words things so delicately that most don't see it as works based and think you are crazy. Unless you have a good workable knowledge of the Bible and salvation, you will miss the muddy messages he gives.
I would recommend pastor Richard Seymour, his church is called Clarity ministries and has a few books. The fishing for men book is phoenominal. Once you get done with that book, the gospel is so clear and beautiful that it makes all these other fakes become apparent.

For my whole adult life as a "christian" I was confused..thought there were two doctrines taught in the bible..faith alone or faith PLUSworks.Turns out it was because I was using wrong translations..NIV..ESV. Back to KJV and now its so clear..by grace thru faith in CHRIST ALONE. Thank you Pastor Cucuzza...I can now rest in the so great salvation Christ has purchased with his own blood !!❤

I’ve never heard this applied this way but it makes the most sense and most solidly supports the doctrine of faith plus nothing. Is my Baptist preacher going to think I’m a heretic for believing this? It’s fresh truth for me.

The LS, and even Calvinism, creates mental illness in the followers of these doctrines called Scrupulosity. I was a suffer for many years.
It is also called the doubting disease.

One thing I’ll ask those that say they’re perfect is? Are you shallow judging a person based on their outward appearance instead of a persons personality? How’s that less sinful crushing somebody’s self-esteem cause they don’t look pleasing to the eyes? When the Bible tells us too love one another help one another show the love of Christ toward others. Bible says if we break one commandment than we broken them all the Bible also says not too cause anyone too stumble or fall rejection can make a person fall if they’re not careful.

I HAVE A BROKEN ARM, SO PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED BY THE CAPS LOCK.
READ ROMANS 3, 4, 5, AND 6 IN THE KJV. WE'RE PERFECT IN THE EYES OF GOD ONCE WE HAVE BELIEVED CHRIST PAID FOR EVERY SIN WE EVER HAVE OR WILL COMMIT WITH HIS FINISHED WORK ON CALVARY BY FAITH ONLY IN CHRIST ONLY. THEN WE ARE SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT FOREVER AND WE RECEIVE CHRIST PERFECT IMPUTED OR TRANSFERRED RIGHTEOUSNESS. GOD SEES HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON WHEN HE LOOKS AT US.

Okay I believe that the work is all of god. Now what do you think about what Jesus said in John 15:4 abide in me and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, no more can you except you abide in me. Is there any part there that I must do ? How does a Christian grow in his faith ? He has to read the word , something I must do? Yes not for salvation but for growth.

There is none so blind than those who won't see
It not stating you can't see it states, you won't see a choice
Calvanist don't believe in choices,God does and it is clearly, stated in His word
Calvanist need too change their thinking, that's repentance

Pastor, please explain to me the crowns given in heaven...Aren't the standards to receive them considered works? We are walking a fine line between following the leading of the Holy Spirit and works. What I am finding in the churches today is that we shouldn't strive for perfection in our daily walk but live a take it as it comes. I think we can all agree that works cannot get you into heaven however true followers of Christ make every effort to imitate the Path that Jesus expresses in his word. The intentions and motives of a person's heart are expressed in many different ways. God knows our motives. Once saved always saved...That also implies God will change us internally to be more like him. I think twisting the words of other Pastors is indicative of Churches today. Many act like this new language is an epiphany that their religion is the perfect religion.
Matthew 5:48 - Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Colossians 3:23-24 - And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; (Read More...)
2 Peter 1:5-8 - And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge...
1 John 2:1-29 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (Read More...)
Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Titus 2:14 - Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
1 John 2:6 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

We believe that salvation is by simply trusting in Jesus Christ and that once you have it you can't lose it. We also believe that once you are saved you should grow in the Lord and do good works. However, good works are not a requirement for gaining or keeping salvation. We will, however, be rewarded in heaven for the good works we did as believers. If you'd like to know more about the topic sees messages 9 and 10 in this series "Seven Motivations of the Christian Life".
