My testimony about this song (Iceland version) - Part 1: I’m still in love this band no matter what has happened. I was lost for 10 years. During this season, I didn’t want to hear anything about God, nor spirituality, or whatsoever. I just wanted to live my life. I avoided all type of spiritual people and spiritual talk. Well, who needs God? My life was great. Career, family - all was in order. Until one day, I got sick - for one whole year (if not more). Then my life turned upside down. I felt so bad, life was not anymore on my side, I hit the rock bottom, almost had no more passion about life. Going to hospital, seeing the doctor, and taking medicine were part of my daily life. I was scared and so tired about it. But God is so merciful. He was so patient to wait for me to come back to Him. During that one year being sick, I was then introduced to their music. Hawk Nelson has played such a huge role during that season when I came back to Him. I can still remember those days on my sick bed in hospital - when I listened to their music (many times with tears). It is so amazing how God can use music to soften and turn someone’s heart back to Him. “Coz I’m falling, will You catch me, God I need You, to be my rescue. I am broken, will You fix me, God I need You, to be my rescue, be my parachute.” “I know I need You to save me ‘cause no one beside You could save me now, could save me now ...” When I had no more strengths, almost lost hope, then this song appeared and reminded me to surrender and ask Him for help. This song had become my prayer too. I needed to humble myself before God, ask Him for forgiveness and come back to Him. Now I can understand the story of the prodigal son myself.
Part 2: As time went by, finally I got healed from my illness. Thanks be to God, to the doctors and also to my family that had taken care of me. Every time I see this video now, it reminds me - how life is so fragile, and how glad I am and thankful to have that ‘rough season’ in my life. It turned out, the worst season in my life - could actually be the best season! In fact, I learned the most the concept about life, death, value, friendship, and what important in life during that ‘rough season’! Foremost, I have the experience to know and feel Him more. Those ‘hidden hands’ that created heaven and earth, those ‘hidden hands’ that created me, touched my heart and gave me life once again. For those who are in the desert of life and feel tired, know that you are not alone. He is there even if maybe you don’t see Him. Rest your worry in Him. If you’ve been away from Him - maybe it’s time to come back now? How long have you been away for, 3 years, 5 years, 20 years? In my case, Father had been patiently waiting for me even after 10 years of being away from Him and I had even never imagined to come back to Him! I have a client of mine who left God for 40 years and then he came back to Him, yes - after 40 years! Yes, there is nothing impossible for God. What is too difficult for Him? I believe human’s heart is the hardest material on earth instead of diamond. But He is God of heaven and earth. Allow Him to touch your heart. Give your both ears to listen. This is (very) important. Don’t be too busy running around to look for solution. Sometimes all you have to do is just sitting, give your ears and heart to listen, and know that He is God. He is in control. I believe God won’t hide His face for those who humble enough whole heartedly seeking for Him. Never lose hope.
John {Hawk Nelson} I hope you will read this, when I heard ur song Parachute first time, I right away thought you must be going through something hard in your life, that you feel like your losing it... Couple days before you posted on Instagram that you don't believe anymore, I posted your song Parachute on Facebook, with words that I'm struggling to keep my faith because of other Christians, there have been to much emotional hurt that left me really angry at God... My husband keeps reminding me that letting go of God in times when everything seems to go wrong and fall apart, is the most wrong thing we can do cause then we lose one and only true Hope that can sustain us and help us to survive anything. Letting go of the people who hurt us would be better thing to do... I'm still holding on with all I can to God, even though I don't understanding everything what happens in life and why He allows horrible things to happen, but anyway at the end our life is not about this short life on earth. I don't know what all happened in your life to cause you to stop believing in God, but I know it's gonna be hard for you now to come back to God, cause of all the shame that satan would trow at you and some other people who pretend to be Christians and call you a hypocrite without knowing your full life story. Part 3 (Final): Back to this song Parachute. Now you know why this song is very special to me. When I saw the video for the first time, I was so curious where it was made. After doing some research, I found out that it was made in Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland. It looks a pretty cool place to visit. I asked God to give me chance to visit this place someday when I got healed. You know what? After I got healed, God really fulfilled that wish. I went to the exact same place where this video was made! I travelled thousands of miles just to be there! Of course this happened before Corona. 😀 When I was there, I felt like being in Jerusalem. For me, that place is place of hope. A place that reminds me that God is faithful. A place that reminds me to never lose hope even when life gets rough. I can still remember the view of that black sand beach, the strong wind, the fresh sea air, the rough wave, everything ... I even sat on the same basalt columns where the members of the band sat (look at the final part of the video). Now that I found back my faith, I think this is the best thing that happened to me these last years. I won’t trade it back. Sure I’m still on my journey. That’s why I need Him every time in my life. But yeah, Jesus gives me joy and peace that I had been asking for - He is the one true love that I was looking for.
Its insane because this song is litterally just before he left christianity. You can hear how desperate he is to convince himself that its okay he is founding out all of his doubts are valid.... super huge foreshadowing to his life event of leaving christianity. This song is almost iconic and so vulnerable. So many people want God to be made in their image. If He doesn't make sense to them or they don't like His Ways, they prefer to deny Him. It's self-idolatry. The Bible said there would be a great falling away in the Last Days. I truly believe we are living in the Last Days. Also, we need to stop coddling everyone. Jesus said most people are going to hell: Matthew 7:13: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." Only a few are going to Heaven according to Jesus: "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." So many people today try to make the Christian walk out to be easier than it is. Just say a sinners prayer and then live your life as you wish. Be your own God. You can't serve two masters. "Work out your salvation through fear and trembling, deny yourself, pick up your cross, follow Jesus and do the Father's will." We also have to be born again. Jesus constantly put conditions on salvation. People always skip over these types of verses: But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. Perhaps this guy will come to Jesus with a broken and contrite heart. We have to be born again. That's non-negotiable. Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." Don’t blame homosexuality for atheism. There are many atheists that indeed aren’t homosexual. The Church has failed in both gay outreach and also explaining the faith well. I looked at his concerns he cited for not believing anymore like God’s “genocide” in Israel, it all stems for a lack of understanding of the Church. And part of that fault is on each, Christianity needs to focus a lot more on apologetics that we do now, the time is coming where we desperately need it.

I respect atheists who have read the Bible and decided they don't believe way more than atheists who don't do any research and decide they don't believe. Not only that but he didn't choose to be born the son of a Pastor.

Don’t blame homosexuality for atheism. There are many atheists that indeed aren’t homosexual. The Church has failed in both gay outreach and also explaining the faith well. I looked at his concerns he cited for not believing anymore like God’s “genocide” in Israel, it all stems for a lack of understanding of the Church. And part of that fault is on each, Christianity needs to focus a lot more on apologetics that we do now, the time is coming where we desperately need it.
@@johna4387 This Is why the Bible says to beware of false teachers in the last days because things like this can happen. It's the most dangerous thing! There are more churches that do not preach the Gospel then those who do unfortunately...it's all about feelings, that's how these churches run nowadays
