Dr. David Dao, 69, the doctor who was dragged off a United Airlines flight Sunday, was filmed moments before the altercation, apparently on the phone with the airline after he was bumped to make room for an employee. He continues to be the center of worldwide attention as the new video shows him making it clear he could not give up his seat. United's CEO Oscar Munoz is promising the scene will never be repeated. #InsideEdition

I don't get it. Even if it's overbooked, why should the latecomer get the seat instead of Dr. Dao?
KL Rider Exactly
In this example it wasn't a "latecomer" it was a employee of United that United wanted to be on this flight presumably to be able to work the next day from a different airport... but I don't know really I'm just guessing. I'd like to know how they narrowed it down to Dr Dao who had to be the one to leave.
The true question is : Why the flight is overbook?
@@MaximilienBailly3 i guess the airline wants to fill the seats by using this method of letting people book more than the available seats, cause there is no guarantee who booked the ticket will get on the plane. (Sorry for my bad english)

Airlines always overbook because they know there will be no shows and they want the seats filled. That being said, rarely do airlines have to kick passengers off because of overbooking.
The way United handled it was just wrong. To my understanding, the flight was overbooked and everyone showed, then to top it off they allowed stand by passengers to also board despite being no room, so they offered a hotel room and a rebooking to passengers whom volunteered to give up their seats. When no one volunteered, they picked 6 random passengers to get off. Obviously, the doctor in the video was one of the 6, but he didn’t want to get off, so they dragged him. I hope this explains the situation better.
Side note: if I am wrong, someone please correct me!

Shirley wong, it’s the other way around. Some junior doctors think they know more than qualified nurses with actual experience just because they have “Dr” in their name. But there is no nurse that thinks they’re doctors. If we wanted to be doctors then we would have applied for it. Stop downgrading nurses Shirley.
The full video of this incident is more revealing. The doctor was actually on the phone with his lawyer and tells the police at one point that his lawyer told him NOT to get off the plane. The video also shows the doctor's face being slammed violently into an armrest on the other side of the aisle (you can hear the crunch of his nose as it breaks), and passengers start yelling at the police. The doctor then gets back on the plane at the end and is clinging to the divider curtain repeating "just kill me, just kill me" over and over. The video also stated that he suffered a concussion when the police brutally slammed him face first into the armrest. Oh, and the best part? They wanted to remove him so that two NON-PAYING PILOTS could get a free ride to the next airport. Good job, United.

As ridiculous, evil, and unlawful as flight overbooking actually is, why wouldn't those airlines stick to the least painful solution for everyone in such cases, which is just to deny seats to those who hadn't made to their seats yet? Why pull out passengers who were already in their seats? They literally took what was already wicked, and made it 100 times worse.
This!!!! So I do know that the reason for over booked flights is because 1)greed because they know not everyone shows up for their flight but also the plane isn’t always assigned at the pint of booking. But the rational thing to do would be deny those you didn’t get to the seat yet and either get them on the next flight or refund them!

@ShootBigBucks Gaming Actually no, it isn't against the law. The law you're speaking of is conducted BEFORE boarding, where compensation is given to the passenger because of an overbooked flight.
And even then, it wasn't even an overbooked flight. They wanted to transport some employees after the flight was already booked AND boarded, making this a weird case.

This doctor might save your life some day yet you dragg him out the way
So if they asked a poor person it would be different? He being a doctor felt entitled, that seems to be the American way now. He shoukd have got off when asked, most people would have just accepted it and took another flight. He was told, he held up the whole plane, he got what he asked for.
Anthony1-17 Truth Seeker being a doctor, he has worked hard to get to where he is, so he has more to lose. he must have had something very important and could not leave the flight, the airline should have just asked someone else
It doesn't matter if you're a doctor, an engineer, a simple tourist or a jobless person. If you paid for the flight NO ONE can ask you to leave. The airline overbooked the flight, that's their mistake. The airline's employee can go on the next flight or stay at the airport simple as that.

because he's thinking about the officer confrontation. The passenger 100% has fault, but that truth isn't good for business.
quenquen411 yep very true
+quenquen411 How is the passenger at fault? Why did he specifically have to leave?
He specifically had to leave along with 3 other passengers because of some screw up from the airline. I'm not saying the airline is an innocent part. I'm just saying the passengers interaction with the officers is his own fault. I don't know how you would like me to think about the situation.
nakyer, meh.... PR control, possibly because of the dragging. He was probably out after accidentally hitting the armrest. The man who drug him didn't see him hit his face either to by honest, so he probably just thought he was finishing getting him out of there, lol. And I think it was an aviation officer. It was just a freak accident to be honest. They were just trying to get him off the plane. Nobody knew he would bust his head why fighting officers to stay on. They warned him they would have to forcibly remove him and he literally dared them to do it, with words and actions. He was threatened with jail as to get him to comply without force. He listened to nothing and this is what happens.
They didn't just magically "start in on him" they were called in by the airline staff. If your bosses call you in to do your "job" you're probably going to do it. They were not fully briefed on the situation either.
The fact is, him hitting his head was a pure accident.

fjidf dfjd The people were randomly picked using a computer, if im not mistaken that is how he and three others were chosen
thats BS, so they out of 70 passengers the computer picked 3 asians to be amongst the 4 to leave the plan? thats not random, the airline is racist for sure.

They took him off just to replace him with another person. Just plain stupid

We all know that United's apology was not sincere but forced because of citizen's cellphone recording of the facts. A win for us regular folks.
That long pause when she asked him that, really says it all.
No amount of money will ever give the passenger back the dignity he lost that day
Me: *coughs*
Airplane flight attendant: Sir you’re causing a disruption and you’re going to have to step off the plane
@I'M A NOT-SEE smh. It's a joke sheesh
Me: Excuse me? But wha-
FA: Sir, we have a zero tolerance strict policy here! If you don't comply with our rules, we will put your child into foster care and kill your pet!
Sad but so funny
The guy stayed his ground to save someone else's life the next day. He's a doctor for gods sake, he was only thinking about the patient he would have visited the next day...
Thy YardleTart doctors only think about their paychecks. ask any medical holder
You don't force a SEATED Passenger to leave.
It should never happen. Ever.
What even is the purpose of him getting off? It's stupid.
And he was majorly hurt, and dragged, DRAGGED down the aisle...WhAt?
It was David Gao who traded pills for sex. The man in the flight is David Dao. He is innocent.
So technically United Airlines hurt two people!
I can’t believe they did that to a paying customer that did absolutely nothing wrong, United ought to be ashamed of themselves. He was very brave to stand up for his seat and call United in the end.
2009: United breaks guitars.
2017: And people, too.
I will never fly United.
Paula me too
Paula I will
Jacob smith
Have a nice time.
Paula I always use allegiant
united just made this doctor hella rich.
IMDSickcunt he's retiring also
He deserves it. Does way more for society than your average Joe.
United just game him PTSD and this embrassment witnessed by the whole world that is going to stay with him the rest of his life too.
@1:29 It will never happen again?...gimme a break. You mean to say the airline will never overbook a flight again? Hah right
The ceo chocked so hard when making his statement he had to catch himself and rethink about what he was going to say which truly shows that genuinely or not, he had to chose the right words rather than believe them.
He's only apologising because their stock have gone down $770 million and that's just so far. Still worth a cool 21.5 billion but getting a huge chunk of $770 million takin off the value would sting alot
wtf is up with people dragging off people
its like feminists say we live in a rape culture... they tell you to get off you say no they beat you unconscious and drag you with them 😐
Ben Moreno we don't live in a rape culture
The planet, its flora and fauna might just disagree with you there.
*”No one should be treated that way, period”*
Omg!! I'm sickened!!! I will never fly them.. im a nurse and they should be in jail for touching an innocent person...
United Airlines: Have a safe fight...I mean flight!
Imnot John TRUEE
Lmaoo glad you think this is funny but a man got viciously attacked and now doesn’t even have teeth
My family never book flights on United anymore. They delayed us for like 9 hours.
Vivan Tran ask your friend never book UA. what did do him is do your friends.
They delayed me for 5 hours without compensation and it wasn't due to weather but because their maintenance crew forgot to check up the plane and we had to wait for the next available maintenance crew since the earlier one left for some reason.
they chooses vietnamese and Asian to delayed what a shame..
I'm pretty sure you just can't afford it lmao
nguoi dep
man this ant right every person should be treated the same way they shoud be treated very well
That's the same CEO that sent out letters to his employees and congratulating them for going "above and beyond" to have this "belligerent and uncooperative" passenger removed from the plane. HE COMMENDEND THE STAFF FOR THIS SPECIFIC INCIDENT. This is the face of A SNAKE. How is he still CEO?
Boycott United Airlines, period.
If it makes flying cheaper I don't care.
Until the day they drag you off the plane.
Vee Ardy. Until you tell a cop to drag you off a plane.
and delta

If anyone ever laid their hands on my father like that, I’ll probably end up in prison
it’s like having a full hotel and the staff pulling out a random person from their room
How is that a way to treat a 69 year old doctor
69
What if. That doctor WAS a Mad Scientist
"Let them try to use force,I will make a lawsuit on United Airlines" lmao badass
Mirza Iswan lol he did it too
Derrick Well he better have because that was brutal

And he just that and was awarded millions ! Haha he tried to worn them .
The airline manager should have gone to prison for this.
Completely heart wrenching 😭😭

hi
hello
His scream hurts me so much, the blood on his face- I’m hurt. Why do you guys do this to us.
I love it how he changes his mind, there was an incident that happens that a Unites wanted to kick off a family of four because they resold their tickets and when the family wouldn't get off she threatened to have the kids taken away, and put them in foster care. It's incredible how they can take peoples seat away when they paid it. My family isn't taking this Airline anymore, and my high school had a trip planned, and they were going to that this airline. But after this video went viral, my high school canceled the trip saying they would never allow the student to be in a place that does these types of actions.
