- Bike Touring The Katy Trail
Mile 163 to 28, This is part two.
I'd like to toss out the entire video but I'm having issues getting my videos to render, so I'll be uploading in sections.
Day 3 through Day 5, the end of the ride
Day 3, mile 163 to 100. Camped at Hermon City park
Day 4, Mile 100 to 38. Grabbed a hotel in St Charles
Day 5, Mile 38 to 26 and then back to 38. I made it back to the hotel prior to checkout and grabbed a shower prior to driving back home.
The Katy Trail State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Missouri that contains the Katy Trail, the country's longest continuous recreational rail trail. It runs 240 miles, largely along the northern bank of the Missouri River, in the right-of-way of the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad.

Thanks for sharing your ride and trail information. I like the summation of the last leg, "yep".
@@TheResisterTX thanks for watching! I’m fairly new to biking. You see all the stuff online and the idea of finishing the trail builds up…then ya get there and there and it’s just turn around and head back lol
Still pretty cool lol
Great series. You really did your homework and knew most of the spots along the way. It’s a nice trail to just get out and ride. Wish there were more accommodations too. Would definitely like to hear more about your bike setup and supplies. Thanks for sharing!
I’ll be working on some stuff to show my set up soon!
When i ride my trails, and dont see very many people out, I get a little disinterested. I like to see humans when i ride. The rail trails can be boring at times. Keep the videos coming Bane.
Maybe that’s some of the issue. Corn field after endless cornfield gets a little monotonous lol
I have watched several of your bike tours, and I will definitely recommend this to a friend who is riding the Katy Trail in September.
Awesome! I really appreciate it!
That’s a very good video. Thanks Bane🚴♂️😊
@@bryanleee5946 thanks, I really appreciate it!
Enjoyed your video.
@@johncornbread thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it! Hope you subscribed, I’m just getting started!
I love the videos
Thank you!
I rode the KATY June 2024. After 105 mile first day, we stoped at Cooper’s landing. What a joke. Thanks for telling the truth about Cooper’s. It is a day biker’s beer stop. Not for through bikers. Enjoyed your video.
@@PapaBuffalo-716 a lot of people seem to put out the pretty picture and avoid the rough side of things, I try to be pretty up front.
It’s a nice place to stop and sit by the river, but $30 without food and showers is insane. I stayed there in 2022… won’t be back for that price.
@@orangevw36 definitely what I thought too
You are correct… the towns along the route are missing out on some great tourist dollars. I was very disappointed in the lack of food and water, restaurants, and places to stay. Then, there are really awesome towns that go above and beyond for the cyclists.
I have yet to ride the entire trail. I have ridden from Kansas City to St Charles and back to Sedalia… 500 miles. Been one other time for a short 4 day trip. This year. A buddy and I are parking at KC, taking the train to St Louis, ridding to St Charles to the trail and then back to KC.
@@orangevw36 yea, with it showing up on so many top ten lists I thought it would be more stuff
Man, this is some quality content!! Seriously I love your channel.
Thanks! I’m glad people enjoy it! I’ll keep tossing it out as I go
Great camera angles Bane, and you are doing a fantastic job on these latest videos. Always look forward to your adventures 👍🏼
Thanks! I try to put out quality content lol
@@TheBane1979I may be doing the GAP/C&O again in Sept. You’ll really enjoy it.
@@kmccarr if nothing comes up I’ll be biking it the last week of August and beginning of September
Great Vid - FYi cause of you, I road the Greenbrier from Caldwell to Marlington (SIC) and back three weeks ago . Love to see a fellow hammocker fill us in on the best trees... Thanks!
That’s awesome! The Greenbrier has plenty of places to hang, I’m finding that isn’t always the case! I’m working on finding a way to set up on the ground in places where I can’t hang. Still working on it
@@TheBane1979 I'm looking at Tensa Trekking trees, I just haven't taken the time to figure out how they work with the Tarp. They have a Solo stand and others...pricey and ALSO pricey - there's YoboGear
@@garyprice7379 I’m gonna work on setting my tarp up like a tarp tent for when I can’t hang
Nice video, man. Glad they had the tree cut up for you :)
Yea, it was nice to see them out clearing it out
Enjoy your videos Bane. Best wishes to you ✌️
Thanks! I appreciate every one taking the time to comment, it means a lot!
We did the Katy Trail in 2022, we were going from east to west on our way from NC to SD. So we got off in Boone and continued on the Lewis & Clark trail. Anyway enjoying your video brings back good memories, it was my wife and I.
@@theoilingchief3114 South Dakota is on my short list of places to go bike. If it wasn’t for working I’d want to go tour coast to coast! Must be a blast getting to bike those sort of miles and seeing every thing, especially with good company
@@TheBane1979 Yea that was my second kinda cross country. Was going to do a North Carolina to Phoenix AZ this year but fell and messed up some ribs. So that went on hold. But we are retired so that helps ;). But at 71 am slowing down a bit.
@@theoilingchief3114 I know there’s plenty of people in their 70s that leave me sitting in the dust! Get healed up and keep at it!
When I camped at Cooper's Landing there was a food truck there, and someone had a pizza delivered from somewhere. But it still sucked to pay $32 for a tent space and no showers. Great video again, keep making more
Yea, I guess they have new owners and the new people have basically turned it into a music venue
@@TheBane1979 In the morning everyone there was told to GTFO because the entire place had been reserved for a wedding that day. I won't be stopping there on this year's trip, and I recommend planning your stops to avoid overnighting here :/
Quality content for sure !! I've heard alot of the amenities are closing or just doing weekends . Catering to weekenders !There is a couple places along the trail you can call and they will fix you meals and bring it to you. ( $$$$) im glad ya road my home state and yes im 60 and own a E bike LOL Glad your not a hater 😂 planning on doing the trail in sections outlet to outlet . Keep it up great videos!!!
I have no idea what’s wrong with people. A bike is a bike! If they’re not damaging the trail then there really isn’t any issue. I’m glad you’re able to use one and still get out and ride! You can bet, when I’m no longer able to do it unassisted I’ll definitely look towards an electric bike!
My best friend and I road from Lee's Summit to Alton, IL.
We frequent the Rock Island Spur.
@@Outrjs if they finish the loop, or when they do, I’ll likely come back and hit that section too
@@TheBane1979 Yes. Greenwood is really missing out. A trail that goes from St. Louis to Kansas City!?!
A great tourist attraction!
The loop would bring that great trail, full circle.
I’m doing it in fall
@@bryanleee5946 the fall is probably nice for any trail! Have fun, let me know what ya think!
(Subscribe if you haven’t lol)
Dude…you suck! 10:04 😆 I’m kidding! You totally do not suck. I really enjoyed this 2-part series. Great info and some really nice visuals. Thanks for the “quality content.” 🚲
lol, thanks dude! I plan on hitting the GAP & C&O at the end of August!
@@TheBane1979You'll love the GAP/C&O trail. The C & O can be rough in places but overall a great ride.
