Recently, my dad owned a Ferrari 512TR (best version of the Testarossa). He sold it back in 2013. I never got used to the incredible ‘flat 12’ noise that it made; even to this day. However, the Miami Vice night scene where Sonny’s Testarossa is being chased by the 2 American muscle cars, still sends chills down my spine. The music is perfect, the canvas clothes he wears is perfect, the Miami city streets look breathtaking. Wow! What a dream.
The only reason I had fun Friday nights as a teenager when I didn't even have a car!!!!! Awesome job and awesome show my 11 year old loves it now watching it with me now.
I loved the music, could not believe it was Andy Taylor from Duran Duran was the artist behind it. The car, the action, the music and dialogue pure Miami Vice.
I like how the Testarossa is evidently an Automatic, judging from the slight flash of reverse lights when Don Johnson get back in after clearing the boxes out of his way.
Yep, they used specially modified 1981 DeTomaso Pantera GT5 as an stunt car. It fitted perfectly, middle engine, low stance and easy to create kit car that looks enough of Ferrari Testarossa.
@smitman55678 ...and what comes to the automatic transmission, the reverse light flash you see then the car accelerates from the alley is from one of their stunt cars (they used De Tomaso Panteras and some Pontiac Fieros as an constructed stunt cars), not from the real Testarossa. Testarossas were never built with automatic transmissions. There are many shots from the original cars clutch pedal and the shift stick even in this video. :D
@@anttemo41 Not with enzo ferrari tho, hence why they destroyed it and got replaced by a REAL ferrari, the testarossa, since enzo ferrari thinks its an insult to his company.
@@Turbo.RF4 I didn't give a shit how Enzo felt. His ass was halfway in a casket back then. Plus, that Daytona made that show look sexy. Yeah, the Testarossa was real and it wasn't a fake, but it didn't have the appeal like the Daytona did. Ferrari did that to save face
2 real Testarossas were used in Miami Vice while a 3rd stunt car was made from a Ford Pantera so cameras could be mounted. Even though the "Daytona" in Miami Vice was fake it still looked cool. The Testarossa was a sweet car, but I prefer it in either red or yellow.
Anyone notice at 8:36 the Countach has different taillights to 9:05 then changes back to normal at 9:19 ? Or am I just paying too much attention to detail ?
Too bad everything's so overpriced today. You could buy Jaguars (XK-E series) and Datsuns 240z for about $3,000 each. This was considered expensive, but c'mon! Financed for 36 months with interest it came out to about $85 a month per vehicle. Today you'd have to be mob connected to own a sports car.
In the scene with the boxes its a Testarossa, but just in the next shot its the De Tomaso Pantera, recognizable by the black rear bumper and different (i would say ugly) taillights.
@5eurocups2005 how can you say he's a great driver if he can't get away from anyone? Crockett is a character, he doesn't know he has to keep the plot going. The writers, of course, do.
Unfortunately, the black guy is not Wesley Snipes but actor Michael Wright who has also starred in the original V miniseries and TV show. The episode in question is about a Vietnam vet & assassin carving up prostitutes. He almost gets Gina which is when Crockett gives chase. I may be wrong about which Season it is from but I think it is part of Season 3.
7:52 the rear bumper is seen by the camera and then this frame 7:58 the same bumper disappears only to catch a glimpse of the exhaust pipe. not sure what happened there.
All chase and stunt scenes were done with a Pantera Based replica. a HEAVILY modified 1972 De Tomasa Pantera. Two "hero: cars were actual Ferraris donated BY Ferrari. There was an article about it YEARS ago in Popular Mechanics. From Wikidedia:
@Artaud1957 That sure is awesome chase. It was Trudys first shootout in force too. It was included in the other part, but NBC Universal took it down... :(
I mean two muscle cars chasing an exotic, a game of chicken? Driving under a semi? These guys were doing it all in Miami long before Brian and Rome came on the scene!😁😁
@ViceCommando Don't feel bad, man. I got hit with one too when I tried to do a tribute to a t.v. show called Martial Law. And the worst part is that series isn't being shown on syndication anymore and it's not even on DVD yet. These chases were boss and I loved em' all, especially that last one.
Slantnose Porsche Cabriolet, FTW. It looks like a Gemballa kit on it. Do you have the chase when Crockett and Tubbs chase a green AMG Hammer Mercedes Benz? In the background was a song by U2. Please upload it, if you can. lol
@robbycan His car is twice as fast and you can clearly see from most of his chases that he goes at high speeds and drives beautifully but i guess that down to the show that the cars always catch up not Crockett "the character"
@robbycan He's a great driver, in this chase and many others its part of the idea to keep the guy who after you still insight that adds excitement and intensity, if he gets away from them straight away and he clearly would there wouldn't be a chase at all

That was always my favourite chase scene in vice. The show was really in its prime around then
The sound of that engine makes my day so beautiful
The chase featuring the Billy Idol song is the best. I have not forgotten that blending of the music and visuals for over 30 years.
The cars the music the action what more could u ask for ?

That was the kit car, for stunts if you look at it right you can tell it's not quite as wide or low, plus the wheels are different.
@@twatstabber I was being sarcastic
The inside door panels are not correct either

11 years later, any update?
please upload it to bitchute and give us the link!
Miami vice hard fan👍👍
i love the testarossa but would like that hemi cuda
In this vid its evident that the chosen music always fits best to the plot!
Huh, just noticed they used two different Countaches for the last one. One has the rectangular tail-lights.
Dog of Wisdom it’s a stunt car.
@@brendonisrael6255 Nope. One is a euro downdraft QV..The other is a 2 valve injected car with DOT bumpers
wow what a spot
Actually it’s an easy tell the two countach used the US spec has side markers the Euro car has none.

Agreed! Loved that scene.
I know that daytona is not genuine, but I wanted daytona, is lovely and I like the character of the car.

anyone notice that one of the vehicles chasing don Johnson was a barracuda/cuda
When the Rain Comes Down - Andy Taylor
It is Billy Idol's "Don't Need A Gun".
Classic total Classic
its a Pontiac Feiro with the rear bumper off as it would scrape in the alleyway scene, it probably came off
A Testarossa plus Phil Collins? Doesn’t get better in my book.
And a 911 slope
The barracuda chase scene
Thumbs up if you paused at 9:52 and noticed that they used that exact frame in the GTA Vice City logo.
Man sick observation! 🤟
I like the car chases better when they have the "daytona", more thrashing around and it's a convertible!
The Daytona is sexier, its black, and its fast, which makes it even better. I could care less its a kit car. That made me want one

Agree, also they didn't speed up the chases with Daytona that much. Some sped up footage of Testarossa looks ridiculous.

@Desertpuma True. The driver is Wright indeed. And the episode was "Duty and Honor".
More Miami Vice videos please! 2019......
Yes!
during the 5 seasons of MIAMI VICE det. RICARDO TUBBS had 2 maybe 3 car chases...
@redmr2na It was built off of a pantera (the stunt car testarossa), I'm sure they could have put in a Ford auto trans in it.
@CLA82529 That is the stunt car they used in many episodes. Original Testarossa was too expensive to break. :D
AWSOME!!!!!!! LOVE THE CARS!!!!!
Testarossa and Daytona were the most incredible cars ever around that time.

You're right. Never noticed that before.
you know i really dont care if its a real testarossa or not..it looks good to me!

pretty sure a 911 driven by a competent driver could dust the testarossa.
