The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel czcams.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
This was great! Nice throwback to the early days on the channel. Just keep makin all the stuff you like n we will watch, you’re a good angler so it’s a rad!! Much respect 👊🏼🌊
It’s funny I was watching Fisherman’s life when one of your videos came up. Then after you I found Nick and Taku. Now I’m following and watching all Bay Area CZcamsrs lol
Thx for getting back to the surf. Love all your videos, but I'll never have the opportunity to kayak fish so the surf and rock fish videos are great! I always learn from your videos. Thank you. BTW, use the waders...I'll still watch! 🙂
That was fun. If ya want waders get them, they come in handy for a lot of things. Mine are from my duck hunting days. Not bad but a bit warm on those nice days. Think Salmon fishing the rivers and streams when the water is snow melt!!
Definitely get some waders for this time of year. Much warmer. Even so, we fished last weekend at Moss Landing in shorts and sandals. Sunny blue skies!
Just passed by this video clicked on it and am hooked. I see alot of videos of people pulling fish left and right but all those videos are from Florida and Texas but rarely do I see videos from my area of California. Now where I live the water isn't as lively as San fran as lb has a huge environmentally unfriendly port. I will be watching and sharing your videos 💪🏾 Stay good bro
Watching this on my TV and your camera is looking crisp. The detail in the sand and everything is super sharp. Bummed you aren't scooping sand crabs hahahaha
Good to see you out on the surf , your original point of dropping us episodes for CZcams , and just remember surf fishing will never get old or boring or complacent never at all. Thanks from Monterey California area 🌊🤝🏻.... Oh and @ 4:03 , may I suggest wader shorts 🤷♂️.....
please do more surf fishing videos. I started out on the surf and although I love your kayak videos, I really want to see some surf fishing. Great Video
great stuff, neat stripes on the last striper, if you go down form the front of the dorsal fin and behind the pectoral fin it's as if the stripe making machine slipped off line, haha
Bro. That's my day. Great video. I'm fishing for halibut here in California but when you know what you got, you know what you got. I walk down there with a Lucky Craft too. Flukes are great for Halibut. Great video brother. Thx for sharing. I enjoyed that too. Awesome
I love your surf fishing videos. It is the only kind of fishing I do, and I always learn something from your videos. I wish I was as good at finding holes as you are. The beaches around me just seem to be all sandbars, no holes! And, don't worry - I would NOT unsubscribe if you used waders!
Just found you. Great stuff. Fish MORE than you use to. Fun videos. Love that Lucky Craft. My favorite pole has a drop shot Fluke and my other has Lucky Craft. I'm targeting halibut these days. My wife and I love em. Great video brother. Thx. Subscribing
Great catch video! I know you look for structure like troughs and points, but do you pay attention to the surf, before you make your cast? For example, do you wait-out the receding surf and cast as a wave comes in, so there's more water in the troughs? and do you cast behind the breaking wave or in front of it, before it breaks?
I’ve Watched your show for a minute now. Lisa and I have to kayaks now. I fish the bay and ocean in m boat. Next year I will try getting some salt on my kayak. Your Videos Have me Hooked. Thanks Kid.
Good job with the stripers. I use to fish for stripers in the surf late 70's thru the early 90's but never knew they were caught all year round in the surf. Usually, I would hang up my gear by October or follow them in the bay as they migrate from their summer feeding from the ocean. Pretty crazy. Are you way down south pass Halfmoon bay? I only go to Montara back in the day. LOL
The Kayak is very cool, but it’s rad to get your tips for hitting the surf too! To be honest I dig all of your videos, and you have a very nice delivery. Your gear/rig/set up videos like your first Perch and Striper set ups helped me greatly, some of your gear isn’t available anymore and it would be cool to see you compared/contrast with newer/available stuff.
Wading booties sure save a toll on your feet and its easier than being weighed down with waders if you want to hike the beach. Also acts as a nice guard to avoid stings from bat rays
If I could make a recommendation, Kokatat has the Whirlpool bibs that are awesome. I use mine every time when I fish the surf. Personally, I think you should get the Hydrus 3.0 version without the socks because the water here just doesn't get cold enough. At least not up here in Humboldt. But there are options with Goretex socks too! If you've got any questions about them, feel free to reach out.
What Rod and Reel combo did you go with. I have a Daiwa BG5000 that looks just like yours. Now I need to get a rod for surf casting and fishing and looking for advice.
My son and I were fishing at the same time. We got there a about 12:30 and went to the right also but saw a big hole near the point where I started catching keeper reds right off the bat and so we never moved further down. We saw the other fishermen down near you but two of them came to crowd me when I started catching. Watched you walk by, cussed you out😂, and then continued to catch. Definitely was a good day! He was the long hair patio looking guy in shorts, I was wearing rolled down waders with the distinguished grey beard. I'm still trying for the Striper
Great video! I'm glad you're still making some surf fishing content. Instead of waders, you could try some wetsuit pants under your shorts. Keeps your legs warm and keeps you more mobile than waders.
I wear just bottom wet suit pants.. with some black water shorts over.. I don’t think people understand how cold are water is lol.. only down side I can’t search for sand crabs with my toes hahah
for the life of me i can't cast one of those lures far enough to be useful. too much surface area for the weight. obviously i haven't learned something yet--hopefully i'll get it one day.
Great fish you caught.....I really enjoyed this surf fishing video. So......I'm curious why do you think your viewers not want you to wear waders? I fish the same waters you do and that water is C-O-L-D!!!! I grew up surf fishing around Santa Cruz.....man has surf fishing changed.....I think back.....in the 60's we were casting over the top of all the really good fish.
The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel czcams.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. This is where I enjoy watching you fish the most. Been watching since you started on the surf. Keep ‘em coming
This was great! Nice throwback to the early days on the channel. Just keep makin all the stuff you like n we will watch, you’re a good angler so it’s a rad!! Much respect 👊🏼🌊
Once again great catches. Great job and helpful tips. Thanks Adam 🙏
My pleasure!
Excellent video! My heart was PUMPING at 7:29 when that striper started peeling line! Sending this to my son right now!
Great video with excellent description of what to look for in terms of holes/channels between waves and deeper water but not necessarily further out.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Started watching way way back. Good to see you back on our sandy beaches again! All year round Stripe!
Nice to see how you got your start on your fishing videos Adam! Keep making them and I'll keep watching, tight lines till the next one!
It’s funny I was watching Fisherman’s life when one of your videos came up. Then after you I found Nick and Taku. Now I’m following and watching all Bay Area CZcamsrs lol
Taku is from so cal local Ventura boy yeeeww
@@Jay-gk7ss Taku is from San Francisco I believe, I think he even mentions it in a few of his pass videos he's from the Bay Area...

Thx for getting back to the surf. Love all your videos, but I'll never have the opportunity to kayak fish so the surf and rock fish videos are great! I always learn from your videos. Thank you. BTW, use the waders...I'll still watch! 🙂
Nice catch as usual Adam! My favorite line of yours lately is, "I got a later start then what I wanted" or something like that 😂
Love the surf fishing, from way back. Thanks, Adam.

Loved the whole thing! Thank You!
Definitely get some waders for this time of year. Much warmer. Even so, we fished last weekend at Moss Landing in shorts and sandals. Sunny blue skies!
Especially when that wind comes up!
Way to go! Seen you bag that nice striper. I snapped your pic. Of that first striper.
That’s awesome!! Great edit. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again!

Thanks from Monterey California area 🌊🤝🏻....
Oh and @ 4:03 , may I suggest wader shorts 🤷♂️.....
Wader shorts sounds like the perfect solution. Hypothermia is real AND is dangerous.
Surfer booties are also a great addition:)
What are wader shorts? lol
Love the vids!
Heading to Pismo and you’re videos are a huge help.
please do more surf fishing videos. I started out on the surf and although I love your kayak videos, I really want to see some surf fishing. Great Video
Yes I do love Adam’s surf videos too
Bro congrats on your fishing adventure tanks for posting your videos I’ll like them all have a great evening out there congrats
Great to see you’re back on the surf, still prefer watching surf fishing video than kayak or boat 😂
More to come!
same i love surf fishing its my favorite type of fishing
Awesome job bro!!!! Catching those 2 stripers. I remember you Catching that 25lbs striper.
Congrats Adam!
Great Catch!!
It's cool to go on the beach too! I love surf fishing.

A hard YES for waders! I fished Washingtons surf in neoprenes…Now shorts in Mexico 😉

A limit of Pajaro hybrid stripers! tough year to score stripers and here a limit! well done
Beautiful gold stripes on those Cali Perch. Nice day out without the skunk.

New to your channel. Awesome watching you guys fishing the jerkbaits for perch. Have you caught red tail on them? I've been wanting to try it.

October days in the surf!
Yep, I remember many of them.
I enjoy watching your fishing videos are you fishing in Pacific Ocean or Atlantic Ocean
Awesomeness

I appreciate that! Thank you for the suggestion, I will try to incorporate that into a future surf vid!
I love the variety of species you go after.
Me too! I am so lucky to have such a variety of target species here in the Bay Area!
Nice job!

I’ll be in Manzanita Or, over Thanksgiving and will give the surf a go there.
Nice!
Goddamn I love fishing. Great video bro
Great to see you back on the surf! I don't remember you mentioning it - what rod, reel, and line did you use for this session?
I'll show it in the next one!
I’m one of your original subscribers, still have the shirt you used to get things started. I miss your surf fishing vids :)

Nice Perch
I love the surf content, anyone could go try that. And i grew up steelhead fishing. But the ocean kayaking will still be my favorite content 😁
I appreciate the support!
You ever fish the San Simeon area?
My son and I were fishing at the same time. We got there a about 12:30 and went to the right also but saw a big hole near the point where I started catching keeper reds right off the bat and so we never moved further down. Awesome! Glad you caught some fish too! Hope to see you out there again sometime!
🔥🔥🔥
Love the surf fishing vids, but man, you are a lunatic for fishing that cold surf in shorts. 😂
You should try the calisa sardinglow or the nectar pink
nice!
get the waders, Adam
yes...they look ridiculous and are hard to walk long distances in. but you save so much energy by staying warm
Hey, nice catch, are you Fishing in SF area by the Zoo or somewhere else….

Great video! I'm glad you're still making some surf fishing content. Instead of waders, you could try some wetsuit pants under your shorts. Keeps your legs warm and keeps you more mobile than waders.
Thanks for the tips! I will check those out.
I wear just bottom wet suit pants.. with some black water shorts over.. I don’t think people understand how cold are water is lol.. only down side I can’t search for sand crabs with my toes hahah
Are you using two different colors of braid on your reel?
ca is F..... cold !!!!
Was this in Half Moon Bay.???
I go to San Gregorio
Get the waders & aBelt for them keep the water out
"that's definitely not a perch" 😄
Where is this place at Adam? From Stockton area wanting to get on some good perch .I've heard they are good eating. Help a guy out
Where are you fishing at. I live in Santa Cruz and trying to learn fishing
Nice Stripers
I saw you on the HMB south jetty at night in the rain once. Rugged. I think Ish made a video about it.
I can't wait to catch my first surf striper in SF
🎊👆🎉Congratulations you have been selected among our fishing rod set giveaways winners, telegram us to Claim your price.
A striper limit on your first trip back! The surf is telling you something!
And a nice redtail 🔥
Gripper and needle nose pliers to unhook not worth the risk. Those T handle dehookers work really well and they're cheap.
What rod are you using with the Lucky Craft?
What rod you’re using just curious and thank you in advanced.
0:12 damn making feel old...
Are you more toward Pacifica, HMB or Santa Cruz
for the life of me i can't cast one of those lures far enough to be useful. too much surface area for the weight. obviously i haven't learned something yet--hopefully i'll get it one day.
What is the length of your LC lure?
Great fish you caught.....I really enjoyed this surf fishing video. So......I'm curious why do you think your viewers not want you to wear waders? I fish the same waters you do and that water is C-O-L-D!!!! I grew up surf fishing around Santa Cruz.....man has surf fishing changed.....I think back.....in the 60's we were casting over the top of all the really good fish.
