- It's no secret if you guys have followed me, that I am divorced, and went through some tough times, but over the least few years I have come into my own through family, youtube and friends, and today marks a conquering of those previous feats by building an RX 580 gaming pc with an i7 for $225 USD~ with parts I picked up on the road.
Also part of that involves me just staying positive and moving forward, regardless of what has happened, so after being Jnr. a PC, I thought sure I will whip my ex something up as well.

Korea is a fun one. I did a couple of build for friends there. There is a killer electronics district in Yongsong that I got a majority of the parts from. I had found a 1080 Ti for about 250 usd at the time of the RTX launch. The real hidden gems are in the little side shops in the area that take some wandering to find. Also keep an eye on Craigslist there sometimes you can find good deals there. Snagged an old cooler master for 4 bucks.
Side note, a lot of the parts seem to come from pc cafĂ©âs, be care full of odd parts due to proprietary capabilities.

"B" codes are usually memory related on X79. B2 is "iMC init", which would suggest to me that there's an issue with the memory controller interacting with the board, or there's a RAM issue.
You're in Japan, it should be easy to get an "External Clip" style ROM flash interface. You can then use another computer to flash the BIOS on the MSI X79.

Maybe the bios is write-protected cause of a certain jumper configuration on one of the headers?
YES! My 1156 Asus board has some kind of a bios protection system like that, really awesome but it was frustrating when i was trying to get modded bios to work.
Either way check your motherboard, mine was next to a removable DIP-8 chip which i'd assume is replaceable, considering it's socketed and not soldered.
I know how to build PCs and speak Japanese, but can you teach me how I can find a Japanese wife?
There is something about bringing old pc back to life. It may not even be most cost effective way to get a working machine but definitely a fun one.

i've had a couple of those h67 motherboards from msi. for the life of me i had a hard time updating the bios. i couldn't get it to update. it wouldn't accept amd cards but it would accept any nvidia card no problems.

Hey Brian for the x79 boards when you want to update the bios via application it usually works on windows 7. I had the same issue and I only got it to work by updating the bios using the application on windows 7.
