Worth mentioning that early successes like reaching elite four on attempt 10 then taking until 33 to get there again was because the rom hack was actively being made harder as he played it.

Not to downplay PChal, but you can see that he has two script writers in the beginning credits. He uses script writers for a while now, which is a very good idea, so he can focus on the delivery and on his own content

Wow. I'm barely out of the intro and already loving this. The Hollow Knight score slowly building over the escalating madness was a great touch
Ive always liked the Koffing line. Its pretty damn bulky and even as a kid fighting all of those rockets, I was always impressed with how often a underleveled Koffing would survive a hit and Weezings were always scary not just for exploding. My favorite Koffing moment though was taking a max power Retaliate from Slaking in Norman's gym which should be a 210 power move coming off a 160 base attack pokemon.
Koffing is also an extremely good Little Cup mon due to its high Defense and good coverage
Weezing is ranked UUBL so actually it's one of the strongest mons in this hack. I was shocked the creator let Koffing evolve
Production value is top tier goddamn. Hats off to the editors and scriptwriters!
I remember tuning in for these streams and man this seems like a crazy challenge.
Garbage Green was traumatic for me to watch in real time. I was genuinely thinking there was no end.
Damn, the intro to this is top notch. Really feels like an epic redemption quest type thing, like he truly released something unholy onto the world, and now he must redeem himself by slaying it.
This reminds me beautifully of Karen's quote in Pokémon Gold and Silver. "Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites."
And try and win he did. What a journey.

As a modder, unfortunately, it's harder to code a hack fo leaf green, as the code locations are somewhat different from fire red, the more commonly used game. Just changing encounters and trainers though is quite easy.

Pupitar really isn't that great outside of stab QuakeSlide. Average bulk (for a shitmon), and base 84 attack, also a mid-late game evo too.
The modder wasn't trying to make the game completely unplayable, just really, stupidly unfair.

@@iameverywhere9431 The rare candies are just so Jan doesn't have to grind out levels every run. It's insanely boring for the audience to watch and for him to do.
@@iameverywhere9431 watching a streamer grind 50+ levels (or in kaizo: 70+ levels) is so boring, plus rare candies can be a good way to avoid overleveling in an HC nuzlocke (where you cannot use a mon that is overleveled until the next badge is acquired)
I love that Jan instead of feeling satisfaction of what he did, he feels the freedom to not touch that game ever again
Garbage Green was getting a lot of flak when Jan was playing it because many viewers at the time saw the game as extremely punishing for things you had no control over. The hack basically serves as his own torture chamber and a lot of people, myself included, were frustrated that he kept making it harder when he was still clearly struggling.
Good for him and good for content, but Garbage Green felt like a game with only one solution most of the time he was playing it which is sorta counter-intuitive to the Nuzlocke experience.

Great intro and great video! Nice to see two of my favs, Tropius and Qwilfish, do some work against the Elite 4, in this type of challenge especially.
The production value is through the roof on this one. I think I have not seen a thumbnail this appealing and editing/scripting/music that fitting in a while. Those aspects made me comment. As a graphic design nut I am just incredibly impressed and hope you will keep this up. It's amazing content

I feel like this was Jan best format yet. Telling us the story of the winning run gives a cohesive narrative while referencing the challenges and successes he faced in other runs at that points adds context to the decisions and backstory to his mind set. It's the complete story of his winning run and the story of his multiple attempts in a perfectly balanced and comprehendable narrative.

Not only was the storytelling EXCELLENTLY done, but the music choices were ON POINT throughout this video, really hit emotional beats well, this whole video was amazing!
This was probably the best video yet. The Thumbnail was appealing, the intro was really nice and well made, the total supercut was well paced and the storytelling has gotten a lot better. It is really incredible to see how Jan absorbes, whatever he has seen worth in from other creators, like a sponge and then go on to make that in his own style.
Hope he gets to evolve his content even more.

Your videos genuinely inspired me to start nuzlocking games myself, I'm going slowly with various restrictions but it's so fun to always have a unique team and story for every playthrough
That opening was Glorious. Seriously dude has come a long way from 50k subs and treating CZcams as a backlog of his twitch. He’s affected the whole Pokémon community and even made me better at Pokémon

The story in the opening was amazing, and the fake outs of Larvitar and Dustin were hilarious, honestly one of the best nuzlocke vids I’ve ever seen! Also, love the use of the Hollow Knight and Furi Soundtracks, both sound so action packed and dramatic!

I like seeing you play this game because instead of building one perfect team to get past a bs strategy you have to build teams to take on whole gauntlets. It makes for a lot of variation between runs and stops you from needing to restart 10 min into the run every time.
