    after you sink the board the secret is to push with foot or knee forward not downward. this will help flatten the board and gain forward moment to push through the wave in a efficient way.

    true to push earlier and push your knee down on your board (hard) followed by your foot whilst pushing down and forward with your entire body.

    I'm always getting pounded in the rougher winter surf when I use my soft top board, can you really duck dive with a soft-top or am I just not doing it right? PS: My board is so bouyant, I can sit on it and it doesn't even go two inches underwater, also, I'm not very heavy...

    so to clarify, the knee push is to get the board under the water, and the foot push is to get YOU under the water fast right?

    but that's alright. It's normal that a wave hits you a little bit in the back, if you're underwater, the wave hitting your feet or your back actually helps you get up quicker. but if you're getting ''washed up'' by the wave, that's because you're not diving the nose very well...it's always the nose that matters ;)

    Me too Ive an 8ft fiberglass longboard and the damm thing wont sink for a duck dive, of course Im only 140Ibs so that could be the problem but I just end up looking like Im trying to do a push-up on the board - the thing just floats and I get slammed. No problem with a shorter board - but Im 6ft tall so I need a 7-8ft board so?

    the video is good shut up hatchman.

  • @DanielHatchman
    @DanielHatchman Před 11 lety +1

    Not really man. It's all about getting gravity to push you under... And seeing as your board is buoyant in water, you basically have to get as much of your body out of the water as possible to sink the front of the board. The kick in this case is to flatten the board out, but if you look at the video, the kick doesn't do anything of significance.

    @LeadPipeNinja buy a real board!

  • @DanielHatchman
    @DanielHatchman Před 11 lety

    This is a pretty bad video... I recommend thinking it as pushing your board under water, then going underwater with the board. To do this though you sink the front end of the board by getting your body as far away from it as possible. This involves poking your bottom towards the sky and extending one leg upwards. Then flatten your board, and pull yourself under water. It is important to flatten the board first or you will pop back up in reverse.
