È raro, come in questo caso, non poter scegliere tra la sublimità della musica di Bellini, la celestialità dell'interpretazione canora e la perfezione dell' accompagnamento di Vincenzo Scalera. Un assoluto godimento dei sensi. Sumi Jo oltre a possedere tecnica e intonazione meravigliose riesce pienamente a calarsi nello spirito del grande catanese, in particolare nell'aura di pateticità che pervade tutta l'aria. I suoi filati sono prodigiosi, il vibrato stretto e gentile, l'emissione delicata ma precisa come una lama del migliore acciaio giapponese e anche la dizione è di qualità adeguata al suo canto. Eccellente, senza riserve. Anzi, struggente!

The pianist is Vincenzo Scalera for those wondering. He is truly amazing!
This performance is so superb that it is beyond every superlative. Every aspect of a perfect technique is there. The whole body is involved in the production of the most glorious sound. Written on 2 /2 / 2017. l have visited this very many times in the past two years since my first post and been reduced to tears on many occasions. There is a very great beauty in Sumi Jo's voice. The genius of Bellini is breathtaking. Written on 31/05/2018. Sumi Jo takes me into a magical world and also reveals her soul in this aria.
Sumi Jo is one of my go-to singers when I want to hear a flawless rendition of... anything, really. Her command over her voice is absolutely stunning and so is her sensibility; every nuance is already in her voice, she doesn't need to make it a spectacle. And she's one of very few people who can bring out the genius of Bellini.
What a good comment! The way that Sumi Jo uses her voice in a different manner in her performances over the years is a fascination. It is very sure to me that she is constantly working on technique and I admire that immensely.
I have watched this video probably more than a hundred times so far and will watch a thousand times more.

Such a refined artist. She holds you and you need to know what happens next. A relatively new discovery for me, though I have loved her for years as the falcon on Solti’s Frau Ohne Schatten.

Also, despite his excellent playing, Sumi Jo is the diva - the greatest exponent of beautiful coloratura in our time. I'd rate her as top of the pops excelling in music & beauty and as such no one stands even next to her ....!!!!!
