One of my favorite movies. It took me 10 years to re-watch it after I first saw it because it struck such a nerve that I couldn't handle the emotional turmoil of watching it again.
I just finished watching it. I'm trying to put everything together for my self. I think she just needed him to support her on trying to look for her dreams, for something that made her feel alive. What makes me so sad about this is that I think he would've really supported her if she would have only told him. I agree with him. She was not mentally ok... or at least she never really knew how to express what she needed. It's so sad they loved each other so much, yet they both had some serious issues to solve before. None of them knew how to manage their feelings.
@@AylinVGD I'm pretty sure this was a pretty standard view of life back then. Just so much isolation everywhere, within themselves especially. After world war 2 came the American dream, which like any idea that's supposed to encapsulate everyone, was a farce. Apologies, I'm venting a bit.
Could be. I think it would have made a difference if April had a job too. Frank didn't even liked his job, but he has something to do. Something to make him feel useful in the world, but April had nothing more than being a housewife. Her dreaming on acting and having such a personality, just staying home and taking care of babies must have been so frustrating.
April is just a crazy person. Honestly. How can she ask Jack to quit his job? A job where he’s got such a great future ahead of him. Paris is going no where after all so what’s the rush? So what happens if they get there and life gets dull for him too, imagine having to live with the fact that he had something good going and he ruined it for an unrealistic dream. Plus April is so unstable she might get there to find that Paris really wasn’t the fix she thought it would be and guess who’s still going to have to deal with all her drama then? Well, it’s certainly not her alone. So in the end she kills herself, proving the point of the movie - She a crazy, selfish, narcissist and it was either her or Jack.
Her feelings will make sense when someone like her goes through such a situation. But this was a writing from 1961... Amazing...Richard Yates is great...Had my parents from India read this book.. 😢 It is so relatable for me... My mom did not commit suicide, but she died 6 years ago due to her hypertension and kidney failure... Dad is still with me with depression.. This is when family and friends make an important place in life...
I just finished watch titanic and then,i feel sad because jack die.and then i see this movie and I thought they gonna have happy ending with this one,but I was wrong.april die ,why they don't give them happy ending?,i mean what's wrong with this two people? ?😢 Now I feel sad again two times 😩
I don't understand what you mean. If they hate their lives then that leads to their marriage being very unstable and many arguments going on between the two and they both develop many emotional issues BECAUSE of their relationship problems and take out their feelings on their kids. So I think if parents hate their lives and ignore their feelings and relationship issues they'll end up taking their anger out on others, including their kids without even realizing it because they still believe they are ok because they are ignoring how they feel and don't accept they fact they hate their livs.
@@ericawalker7695 I believe he is talking about transferring your desires to your children. To focus on providing the best life for them. There is no right answer that fits everyone. That is genuinely all some people want. labelling people as selfish for wanting more is small minded though. I'm sure a lot of people would be better off staying away from the suburbs, living an examined life and leaving the raising kids to people like Jeffrey.
I'm guessing there are approximately 100 million people on earth who are truly happy because they are rich famous or powerful. The other 8 BILLION has the life this movie portraits. It's called real life. You are Alive better enjoy it! You won the lottery by being born and healthy.
Stupid ridiculous movie about selfish people determined to be miserable. How many poor or unhealthy people would have traded places with them in a moment?
Remember a teacher playing this in school cause his lazy ass didn’t want to work for the money anyway remember thinking this movie was so trite, such a privileged problem to have & the wife especially...my god she was annoying to me.
maybe because it is a stinking hell-hole like many other big cities?! Sure it has it's beautiful places, Cafès, Arts, Museums, Eiffel-Turm etc. but after all of that there is a very ugly side, lots of crime in the Banlieues, where african migrants are wreaking havoc on the once prosper and beautoful french nation - so migration and a constant influx of other ethnicities has destroyed what once was the spirit of paris. IF you REALLY want to visit awesome cities in Europe, go to Prague, go to Warsaw, visit Riga! Why? You will not find forced multi-culturalism there, you will find beatiful, non graffitti-vandalized cities, people who are proud to be slavic, to be polish, czech or lettish and you will find many buildings in the old city in astoundingly good condition and everything is very clean!

They should make a Titanic 2 where Rose is fishing one day and cant believe her eyes when she comes across Jack as a Merman in the ocean
😂😂😂😂
Mer what
Fun fact there is a titanic 2 movie
sounds great
What in the-
This movie actually reflects on the happy families that lived that live keeping all the real feelings inside and learned to live with it simply

Sounds unhuman to me how can anyone be happy with secrets and living a lie.
Como se llama
at least I can imagine how rose and jack would have been if they were together! tho the characters don't sinc in

I’m watching this movie right now on HBO and I swear that this is a sequel of Titanic part 2 😂
That what their life could have been if they had survived after Titanic
At least Margaret's with them too.
Yeah it's the sequel of titanic not sinking.
😂
My thoughts exactly
Фильм называется "Дорога перемен".
This is an alternate universe where Jack and rose end up together and get married. And then this happens
Lindo filme❤
Fave

La la land is day dreaming compared to the reality depicted by this masterpiece.

Titanic é um lixo e esse não será diferente.
I believe this movie is called “Revolutionary Road”
Filmdeki duyguları o kadar iyi anlıyorum ki gerçekten çok üzücü..
Kadını survivorda ki Evrim sandım yemin ederim
the alternate universe where Jack and Rose ended up together?
A powerful and depressing movie
So this is Titanic 2...

They miss the point, the set up is to raise children in a stable environment. If they make it just about them, of course it's unexciting.
And then your children grow up resenting you for raising them in such a dull and vacuous place.

I agreed when he implied she was not sane
I think American got too much freedom
Why are the burbs white?
Because burbs are nice
Because there were often clauses written forbidding the sale of the house/property to people of color. They still exist in some neighborhoods
Nice name, Rongfei Wu, I looked up the pronunciation, its poetic
Is this the movie we’re the wife killed the kids
That’s shutter island
