    Hello Mick, Can you mention to your viewers on an other money saving tip. Qualcast built their mowers using industry standard metric screws, washers, and fasteners. I know because I have just rebuilt a 35s classic from the ground up. I see these used rusty screws, washers and fasteners for sale on the famous auction website being offered at ridiculously inflated prices. When you can buy the exact same ones brand new at a fraction of the price. You will save £s buying these brand new.

    Normally anybody who needs help with a how to video is very well served on CZcams, but this one is one of your reference video’s. The reason I say that is your no nonsense hints and tips are the best at the best of times, but great quality camera combined with quality of sound any punter can play your video back as many times to build up confidence.The work on the carburettor was incredible it had my heart in my mouth at times but what a result. Cracking little cylinder mower that sounds just awesome, and think you are wrong about it not selling because of it being near end of season. That is a little green gem 💎 that should be snapped up quickly 👍 Tam.

    Just bought a Stihl br600 for a song that wasn't working. Stripped down and cleaned, now works a treat. But what a nightmare. He'd used various screws and bolts from various machines. Some self tappers into plastic were stripped so just used slightly bigger ones. Try one for a challenge!!!! I'm using for myself but looking at prices I can 5x my money easy. Another great vid mate. • @themowerman

      @@themowerman Thanks Mick, yeh, although I can't find any manuals for the Suffolk Punch 14SK, I DID find one for the Kawasaki FJ100 engine. And as you say, the spring goes through the same holes as the fixed bar which, I'll be honest, seemed weird to me. I thought, what's the point of that? The spring can't be doing anything. Mick, I cleaned the carb as per your video. I've still got a bit of hunting. Also, when the throttle is at full ( the hare ), it seems to not run at full speed. If I move the throttle near the carb by hand, it runs much better. Do I need to adjust the throttle cable? Thanks.

    Hi mick I’m just starting up utilising my engineering background but I’m finding it difficult sourcing Mowers etc that I can make anything on. The ones I am getting are mostly from Facebook but the work needed outstrips any potential profit. I hope you can give me a little advice.
    Many thanks 🙏

      Hi Peter.. ta for watching.. Facebook is great for picking up mowers but like you most need a little work.. start with one style of engine like the classic Briggs that way you will always have spares to take off.

    why on earth & when did they start using kawasaki engines, was nothing wrong with the good old suffolk engine used on the older ones at least they didnt suffer any hunt problems, just if carb got dirty they'd hesitate in revving up from idle but they'd still run & a simple clean out sorted them & not keen on the idea of plastic/nylon gears to drive the cartridge, metal gears would be far better for durability

  • @mattyburrows9059
    @mattyburrows9059 Před 3 lety +1

    i pulled the gear pinion out of the rear roller and now i push it.these mowers are stupid and want to wheelie when you engage the rear roller..atco qualcast and allett all do it..after 30 years you would have thought they would have fixed this problem...and when you have the 10 blade cassette it gives about 120 cuts per meter.when the rear roller self propels..if you use the normal casstte with less blades and push it slow. it can give 120000 cuts per meter if you push it slow enough..i also have the metal front roller so its smoother..

    Hi Mick, I have bought a fixer upper Kawasaki engine like the one of this video. The mower start but then stalls. Any idea what this could be? Thinking of cleaning the carb like you did in this vid but just wondering from your experience, could it be anything else? Thanks mate. 👍

    Hi Mick, thank you for your detailed video! I've just service my lawnmower and was wondering if you know at what RPM's the engine should be at idle and full throttle? In the Kawasaki manual it says 1600 low idle and 4000 high idle but they might be different depending on what they are fitted. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Mick, when removing the float pin you removed a very very tiny sprung wire coil which locates on the float pin. You placed this on the tissue but did not comment. I think this just applies the smallest of pressure to the float. Is there any drawing or sketch that shows exactly how to replace this sprung wire coil? I saw this when removing the float and almost lost it and now not certain how to replace it. Is there anything that shows this sprung coil in situ? Thanks so much again.
