My daughter has taken lessons with Rick. Let me tell you…Rick is a genius! We took a lesson with some other guy that some parents suggested when we got back to North Carolina and there are some real tennis bozos out there! Rick is the man!

Nice video and lesson. As a coach, I always find the parent-coach-student relationship complicated. I notice Rick talks as much to the parent (or more) as to the student. I always try to address almost everything to the student but that's just my style... I know there are some tennis parents who are very involved and even coach their kids themselves so it makes sense to keep them informed as well. Edit: I assumed there was a parent back there but could also be trying to address the cameraman for the video.

I like this lesson. It is very instructive for teaching all ages and levels that are looking to improve forehands. The only part I find not so educationally productive is that Rick tells the kid that "it is not his fault" that he is hitting "less effectively" or what wrong...yet when the kid improves, Rick is not going to say "it's not your fault". The kid should not be so emotionally weak that there is a need to tell the kid "it's not your fault"..It is a crippling comment that ultimately rusts this kids character. Still, love the Rickster though! Tell, him the real deal and teach him to keep his head up and "make it happen" that will serve him...

Feel for that kid. No need to show his problem in so much detail. Show him a proper way and stop directing what he does wrong.
