- The Mentalist S04E09 "The Redshirt" Jane gets Anna to say that she still is in love with Doc which helps reunite the two once Doc rushes in to kiss her.
Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney), Kimball Cho (Tim Kang), Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti), The head of CBI -- Luther Wainwright (Michael Rady), Doc Dugan's Ex-Wife -- Anna Dugan (Ashley Williams), Doc Dugan (Craig Bierko), Steve Penn (John Eric Bentley), Alex Sodko (Christopher Gartin)
Coast is clear. Come on.
Where are we heading?
To solve the case.
Didn't we just do that?
Come on, man.
I'm getting so tired of this.
I just found out my
relationship is a sham
and all my friends
think I'm a punk.
Now you got somebody else who
wants to dump on Doc Dugan, huh?
Truth hurts, I know.
It's biologically-based,
actually.
Our brains process sound
faster than they do light,
but light moves faster
than sound, see?
So our brains are
constantly shifting reality
so the world syncs up.
What does that have
to do with anything?
This. Only when someone
is standing 30 yards away
do we see and hear the
world exactly as it is.
That's when your brain,
sound, and light
- are all in perfect harmony.
- So?
The rest of the time, we're
living in a world of lies.
Lies are what make the
world make sense.
Ergo, the truth hurts.
No, no, no, not Anna.
No, no. Nah-nah. No way.
- Have a seat.
- Not again.
I can't.
I know, but... sit.
Hi. My name is Patrick Jane.
I saw your interview
- with agent Lisbon. Interesting stuff.
- Is there a problem?
Yes, there is.
The problem is you
were telling a lie.
Is this about my alibi?
'Cause I can prove
No, nothing to do
with your alibi.
You said you hated
your ex-husband,
but clearly you're still
very much in love with him.
Hey. Here's the file on the
mob bomber, Louie Boom.
Lisbon says give it a read
before we bring him in.
Thanks.
Alex, would you come
with me, please?
We need to go over something
in your statement.
Oh, yeah, sure.
You don't even know me.
Don't have to. I could see
through half an inch of glass.
You're deeply in love with
your dead ex-husband.
What business is it of yours?
Just tell me the truth.
Just say the truth.
Fine. You're right.
I loved him.
Somewhere deep down in him was
the good man I used to know.
It got lost when
he retired, but...
he would have found
his way back.
I know he would have.
And now I'll never
see him again,
and I'll never get to tell him.
Okay.
Well, that should do it.
Hey.
- Leave her alone.
- Okay.
- Trevor?
- Annie.
What... what are you...
- They said--I thought...
- A trick.
To catch the killer.
I guess I just blew it.
What?
I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry about everything.
The guys from Vespers
are downstairs.
- Did he go for it?
- Yep.
Did he go for what?
Sir.
Doc Dugan is still alive?
Yes... sir.
It was his assistant,
Jake Stewart, that died.
And you chose to hide
this fact from me.
From everyone, for the
sake of the investigation.
A trick.
I wouldn't call it a trick.
Did this work?
It's still in progress.
Okay, well, um...
Let's hope it turns
out positively, huh?
Yes, sir.
Do you think he would mind
if I got an autograph?
Just a...
Yeah. I'll just...
you know, give them a... second.
Good idea, sir. - Zábava
It's little moments like this that make Jane so damnably lovable. Those two were both _miserable_ but he was willing to potentially jeopardize the case (the more people know a secret, the harder it is to keep) to make them both happy again.
He's the perfect wingman. Can't stand people that call him a sociopath or psychopath.
This move by Jane is actually what solved the case, because the killer knew the secret from the start.
"Clearly, that's not the case"
*Waits 20 seconds while Cho and Van Pelt do their thing*
"You don't even know ne!"
Noticed that obvious pause too! Ah, acting.
I have finally transcribed what he said.... he was talking so fast it took forever for me to grasp it but when I did, I decided to memorize it in case anyone ever asks me why the truth hurts. I don't think it's true and if you study it it makes no sense but it's still entertaining! and impressive sounding. What he said:
_The truth hurts, I know. It's biologically based, actually. Our brains process sound faster than they do light, but light moves faster than sound so our brains are constantly shifting realities so the world syncs up. It's just a little bit silly.

So this is where Victoria went after she left Ted.
Wth 😅 she looks younger now
Yes o..
It was such a damn good show that I still get great enjoyment from watching such things as this little 4 minute clip.
One of the few shows I can rewatch, I have this weird memory that makes most shows unenjoyable because I've "seen" it already. If I wait enough time I can rewatch until I get to a point where I remember to much of the show to enjoy
@@juliosantana3536 I regard it in a way that is similar to music and other type of entertainment. Some is worth watching more than once but some . . . well, I walked out of a movie I had already paid for and found something better to do.
Hey it's Victoria
FireBolt 25 Thank you. it was bothering me that I wasn't able to figure out who it was. Himym
Ayyy a fellow himym fan
first thing I thought haha
No U lol. I was gonna say that. She was wonderful.
it's also the moron from Scary movie :D
"take a seat"
"I can't"
"I know just... take a seat"
*takes a fckinh seat*
@navigate48 Well, Lisbon's guilty of seducing a man-child.
I absolutely love the director's reaction, so chill !
i like how his rebuttal is :please, I can see through a half inch of glass"
I'm guessing it's opaque and wavy glass
I was thinking hard where I saw her then I remember she's Victoria in HIMYM lol
???why does it have to be... LOL??? had it been a cute word what actually that fantastic lovely actress has deserved I would not have been so negatively surprised
Victoria aka clearly the best girl in HIMYM
@@Senny_V who was Victoria?
Google?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh never even realised
Trevor: "Leave her alone."
Jane: "Kay."
One of the greatest series.. The Mentalist... i think i watched it at least 2-3 times over the years...
Not one of,THE GREATES SERIE EVER ❤❤❤
You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers
2:48 Jane really knows how to strike a winning blow for his team; not just for justice but for love as well, you could see she was telling 100% the truth about how much she loved him and was hoping for him to come back to her one day by her sigh of relief at seeing him alive and how she was hugging him for dear life like she was never going to let him go, and you could also tell by him bear hugging her that he had finally realized the error of his ways and was ready to go back to the one person who never stopped and completely loved him with all his imperfections, such a beautiful, priceless moment! 💯🔥😁😉😘👍🏻
what he meant I think is that when he is too close she is to angry to tell him the truth but when he is too far he will never know the truth. That's why he placed him in that room. It is true that people process sound a bit quicker that we do light but still it's a metaphore.
You can hear his australian accent come through a little in some of these lines 💞
I liked CBI mentalist than FBI one
Everyone likes CBI Jane than the FBI one
Yolostabber99 i don’t
@@yunus-0 commit game end
Well... yeah! The ending of season 6 should have been the end of the series. But they decided to give it one more season to wrap it up all with Lisbon and kill some extra characters.
@@alejandroyava Indeed! I said that years ago. So glad someone agrees.
2:07 his eyes crack me up lmao 😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂
I was just watching an ad before what I came here for and thought it was a clip from the Mentalist.
Fake death....hum...interesting ! At any rate, I loved that show !
Simon Baker was brillant
That guy at the end saying let's hope it turns out positively is that kid that parents owned a business and he walked in and thought he could run the place cause it had his daddy's name on it is the vibe I get from him
You should watch the series, because you're spot on with that guy's personality.
I would like Jane to meet Dr house
How would that work? Two of my favorite television characters
The problem is everybody thinks to know everthing. Nobody tells everything, no one writes the truth everywhere everytime.People discover their feelings over time.
The guy looks like a young Bruce Campbell...
I legitimately thought that was Campbell for the first few seconds
Anyone else getting recommend The Mentalist clips all off a sudden? I have never seen the show nor searched for it.
you should watch it, it’s soooo good!!
I watched the first episode when it aired, then followed it religiously for six seasons. I wasn't the biggest fan of the new direction after the main conflict was resolved, and to this day I've never seen the final season. But it was my favorite show for many years, and I would definitely recommend it!
FUCK!!!! NOW I AM GOING TO BEING WATCH THE WHOLE SERIES THANKS TO YOU......
Why do all the interiors doors open like saloon doors!? Lol
I cant take this guy seriously after scary movie 4
The best line from that movie is when his neighbor gets hit in the face with a baseball and she says "I've taken balls to the face before"
I'll always remember him from The Thirteenth Floor. Underrated 90s sci-fi movie.
So Victoria didn't go to Germany, aha!
HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHA
These moments remind me that wainwrite was do young and enthusiastic. He died in a very horrific way
Almost like it was written that way.
His voice his smile his personality his AAAA just everything iss greatt
Ashley Williams is in Psych too, pretty cool considering they reference this show
"Hey wait."
Luther Wainwright is so cool. On the outside he’s a stickler for the rules, but he’s also kind of child like the same way Jane is-thus, his willingness to go along with Jane’s tricks and not blowing up when he finds out about them afterward like this case. But overall, he is a mama’s boy as Jane says when he gets himself fired.
*"This call has been disconnected"*
You mistake his good looks and confidence for coolness. It's actually arrogance, overconfidence, and a lack of skills. In a short few eps we've already seen him introduce himself to the team like a try-hard, deceived by the team to catch a guy planning to murder via a mass shooting, and here being unprofessional for a childhood idol, presumably. Later he'll play psychologist, a field he was totally unqualified for, to diagnose Jane as a sociopath. Anyone who knows basic psychology would recognize that as patently false. All this shows Wainwright to have been promoted well beyond his station.
@@siuuuu5234 💀💀💀💀
He was actually the most lenient out of all the Chiefs after the first lady I don't remember names
Yup wainright and hightower. These two were good with being the boss but still not being a trouble. I was shocked to see him dead out of thw blue in the Lorelei episode. Another death that hurt me was Larooche. Both of them didn't get the required post-death screen time, I believe.
@@keshavjindal7395 Wainwright was incompetent. It's scary people think he was a good boss.
I did a binge watch on this several years ago. Did Patrick ever change his clothes????
Lol never, I guess he has 2 or 3 set of clothes, th reason to me is that after he lost his family he only took the strict necessary
Only in Mexico where he had the wraps at his waist😂😂😂😂😂
@@angieo.5745 he looks dapper !! His persona is such that you can’t help loving him ❤️
The bad guy from "The long kiss goodnight" (Craig Bierko) 15 years older (and heavier 🙂 ) but that "uneven/raised eyebrow" facial expression = couldn't be anyone else if you have seen both shows.........
Shit! I knew I'd seen that actor somewhere but I couldn't put my finger quite on it and then you went in All in with the long kiss good night, that is it, That's him. Thank you kind internet stranger.
Let it be. Anyway it is my problem right. You are not going to carry it on your shoulders. I will handle it on my own.
the red head is so beautiful
Oh yeah Van Pelt has a pretty good spot in my spank bank

@ThePark 627 Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
zain i always see u in the mentalist comment sections
Funny how stuff like this only happens on tv
Which episode it is ? I want to watch this
The Mentalist S04E09 "The Redshirt" says the description, hope it's accurate.
Super
Anna's the downsizer from "Margin Call."
Is the black haired actress the same actress who plays in the show "The New Girl" and in the movie "Yes Man"
They messed this show up in the end. No way that Red John should have been some random sheriff from episode 2
The creator of this series never actually had a Red John planned. It was always gonna dissapoint. Red John had gone from being a serial killer to a dude who had his own disciples willing to die for him and had connections everywhere. Too much of a boogie man
@@stevesmith1383 Walter Mashburn would have made the most sense. He matched the description, he had the money and means, it would give a reason to why Red John left Lisbon alive, Jane barely suspected him (which would match up with how Red John got away with it for so long), he was introduced in the show several times and he had the "likeable" personality to pull it off. It just made sense overall. And yet, Bruno Heller tried to go with the "shock" factor and failed. The Sheriff had absolutely no connection to anyone, didn't have the means or money, didn't have the personal appearance or personality. Disappointing, really.
@@GummyDinosaursify Tbh I hoped that the whole team would find out that Jane was Red John all along or something cheesy like that.
A theory I had before the reveal was the Red John ran a kind of cult and put people into the justice system to wield power across the state, CBI, police, sheriff's, city councils etc. He leaned to run a cult from Brett Stiles and still had ties with his organisation from when he was a member.
Entry to the lower ranks of the cult was easy, just getting caught up in general corruption and blackmailed to ensure loyalty in exchange for some decent perks, helping other members and looking the other way when told to, entry to the upper echalons was killing a family and leaving the Red John mark at the site and they'd have some scrap of evidence from each crime that they'd keep to ensure loyalty beyond reproach after that.
If you ever looked like ratting out the high ups they'd threaten to frame you for something like forty family murders instantly, Bradley Whitfords character then could have killed Jane's family but the Sheriff was the real Red John all along.
Made much more sense than what happened.
@@EnUsUserScreennamewould HV made more sense than it being the sheriff 😅
He’s from scary movie 3, oh shit
Hearing and seeing make us mostly living a lie, uh!
Anyone remembers Ashley Williams from Good Morning Miami?
I loved that show so much. Too bad it didn't even get to finish its second season.
Anyway, she still looks beautiful in this episode.

What kind of bra is Lisbon wearing? are they two separate ones or linked? I can't focus clearly......
I don't think she is wearing a bra.
dinesh yadav The hell is wrong with you?
Lisbon is actually just a pile of bras that Jane has been manipulating you into thinking was an actual person through judicious use of puppetry, ventriloquism, and Feng Shui.

Nothing wrong with liking smaller celebrities...
Tina Turner. WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT. Some people get together for the wrong reasons. An alcoholic is in love with alcohol cause of something that is deeply disturbing that he needs to understand. A reason the Catholic Church will annul a marriage is because the alcoholic was not mature enough emotionally to enter into a contract of marriage.
That being said. All people concerned need to do the right thing. Correct injustices. Level the playing field.
The BeeGees were right. We're living in a world made of fools. Breaking us down when they all should let us be. We beling to you and me.
The best relationships happen where both are allowed to grow into the person they were meant to be. If one party grows at the expense of the other, thats controlling.

Anyone else think this just all sounds like a bunch of nonsense? Shows like Sherlock or House where you have a super astute main character making observations are a bit of a stretch, but this I can't take seriously at all.
ilovebrandnewcarpets I think you are just too stupid to understand it
Actually, he's right the delay between the perception of sounds and images is so small for human terms it's irrelevant, the first one moving at over 1,200 km/h and the second one at 300,000,000 km/sec, our brains are fast but not that fast, and even at a 100 meters (50 feet) the difference would still be irrelevant.
Guys he was just talking stuff to keep the man from asking questions and refusing to come ! He throws ambiguous stuff like that to make the man think what the hell he is talking about trying to figure out what's he saying until Jane drag him to the place ! Jane makes it look like scientific facts and the way he says it makes it look linteresting actual facts which makes the other one wants to understand and follow what he's saying! It doesn't matter if it's actual facts or made up rubbish that's how to drag people without having them questioning and arguing about the idea you want to pull out ! Seriously that what you learn from this show and it's really helpful in real life especially when dealing with people who usually disagree with you or doesn't see stuff like you do because showing is better than explaining , believe me sometimes if you explain even if it sound right they will always come up with an argument not to 😒 and it really works ! just want it to share this ✌
