      lol. Yeah. Terrific. Just remember unless it’s a kid that will be a 1st round pick or super high academic scores and grades 99.9% of kids playing in college will still pay to play in college. I ask
what’s the use? lol. To play ball in college? The hard work and time and money spent and cost doesn’t equate to the true value.

    I pulled my son out of 14u to get fast stronger and he did. Now we moved to be with a quality travel team but every day their interviewing him but we're interviewing them too. I learned when my girls were in travel volleyball that most clubs are scams and not in it for your kid but for the money. I get that it's a business but my kid isn't an employee. Anyway, so far it's working out great for my son. You have to be an advocate for your kid and not just fall for the hype.

    When your kid is 13 and 6’3 with a cannon arm, you can be selective cause everyone will want you to play no matter what. Very FEW kids can do this.

    Wow! We literally just made this decision. (I understand the 3 heads comment)
    It would be amazing to somehow connect and ask some questions. My son is a catcher and they also used him as a pitcher. We decided to concentrate on training and guest play instead of only travel ball.

    Coaches should not be taking advantage of kids. The idea of having a young player pitching and then catching in the same day is ridiculous. That said I also don’t agree with a player (especially this young) dictating terms to a coach. It’s a shame it had to come to this. A coach should be concerned about their players and players should be dedicated to their teams.

    • @coachbeede
      @coachbeede  Pƙed 25 dny +1

      At some point , athletes do have to have the ability to have a discussion with coaches when it comes to pitching thresholds. If you caught Friday night and then asked to pitch Saturday morning, chances are your legs are not going to work well as a pitcher . There has to be - youth travel ball - the ability to discuss

    How can youth baseball police itself from nepotism. I see that its destroying the game? Coaches cannot seperate from being a parent from a coach. Coaches kid never gets benched with chronic errors. I have seen it since 8u to 14u.

    • @coachbeede

      @coachbeede I was speaking to the other guy. I think a lot of people like to complain about "daddy ball" but they themselves won't sacrifice the time, other hobbies, overtime pay etc to coach their kids.

    Mmm... asking as a dad for an 8-9yo playing baseball... why should it be avoided for a kiddo to Pitch and play Catcher?

    • @coachbeede
      @coachbeede  Pƙed 4 měsĂci +2

      Very tough on the legs / lower half , to go from catching to pitching . Also , every pitch a pitcher throws to a catcher , the catcher throws back to pitcher , as well as throws to bases - warm ups included .

    • @BrandonDoesStuff1
      @BrandonDoesStuff1 Pƙed 4 měsĂci +1

      @@coachbeede Thank you. I appreciate your response and the videos! My 8-9yo kiddo likes pitching and wants to get better at batting. On our Rec team, probably like most teams at this age, the better players do both positions. I would hate catching for the same reason you mentioned about the legs... though I saw an opportunity for my kiddo 'to see/experience' more pitches if he also caught and it might benefit his batting. My kiddo just recently volunteered to catch more... we'll see how he likes it and we will back-out accordingly.

      @BrandonDoesStuff1 At the younger ages , as long as it’s monitored, should not be a problem. As kids get older , really need to watch it during tournaments. Very welcome 🙏

    Dialing it back is great but she retains the transactional aspect of youth baseball which honestly makes it seem even more miserable. Why bother going to go play if you gotta tell coaches what you will and wont do? Just put him in little league and move on. Good players that work hard will be great no matter what travel team they are on.

      @@coachbeede I agree, and who is the ultimate arbiter of this
..mother. But does mother know what’s best? Here’s the problem as I see it, from a coaches lense
..little Johnny is excessively throwing curve balls but his best pitch is the fastball. I call fastball but he shakes it off to throw the curve. Little Johnny hurts his arm and guess who’s gonna be blamed? Because he threw too many pitches? Or because he relied on his curveball because daddy (or momma) told him how good it was, and how proud it made them. Or how many “swords” he got that night or how he got that guy looking frozen by the curveball. I, like yourself, have many years playing and coaching this game
.i know when a pitcher is fatigued and when he’s had enough. I usually have a purty quick hook with regards to pitchers anyway. But what the hell does catching have to do with it? I never pitch a guy that catches first, if we have a double dip he may start game one but he will probably be behind the plate in game two. Now that depends on his pitch count and his demeanor, but the kids I’ve coached and been to the big league level of play want to be on the field and compete. And usually that gives us the best opportunity to win and that’s my job as the manager, to manage the lineup both offensively and defensively. I have very limited coaching now as the parents became too obsessive. It’s the reason A LOT of coaches are calling it a career now. I had a lady the other day, we were playing in 6A state championship semi final game, said her son (an outstanding player) already had committed to UGA and had an agent, he was a sophomore. So imagine being the coach and having to navigate the mom, the coach at UGA and the Agent

where does it end? I have to get permission for him to play certain positions? I don’t think so
..I’ve seen thousands come and go. Some were can’t miss
..but they did. Some were never really on the radar, but they made it. Let the kid have fun, (after all it is a game) if you have a bad coach, it’s usually identifiable. But don’t live your life vicariously through your child, it’s unhealthy for you and them. Your child is probably not gonna make millions playing this game, but a victory is playing Rec ball, travel ball, HS ball, College Ball

it keeps you occupied, teaches you valuable life lessons, and is fun as hell. Good luck dealing with them
..I know they have the best in mind for their youngun, but so do I. Like I said, respectfully, find another team. Best of luck 👍
