      it's certainly more convenient than the key, especially when you're running for your life trying to get into the tardis to escape whatever is chasing you. Although in that regard it takes a little away from the tension of needing to make a break for the tardis and all pile up at the door while the doctor fumbles for the key.

      @Croftice1 Před 3 lety

      @Bagged Beans Doesn't mean he was right there all four times. You know, that's an event, that was recorded and later shown on television. So it's not the best example. And even if the Doctor visited the same event multiple times, I bet it would be different regenerations, as 9th and 10th said, they haven't seen the universe with these eyes yet (well 10th said that, 9th was talking specifically about the planet Barcelona). So seeing the Moon Landing might be 9th, 10th and maybe 11th twice, because he liked it more, or something.
      Also 10th brought Martha back to New Earth (15th New York) later, the same place he took Rose, so that thing about not visiting the same places isn't really a rule at all (this is just a side note in general, not correcting you or anything)

    • @EtoileLion
      @EtoileLion Před 2 lety +4

      @@tornadotaylor8956 (Stupendously late, but yaknow... trips to the moon and such.) The idea was at one point part of lore - "Father's Day", the Doctor states that he can only go back to the same point twice without causing a temporal paradox that would summon the Reapers. He reiterated that during "Last of the Time Lords", when disabling Jack's vortex manipulator ("You could go anywhere in time. Twice. Second time to apologise"). It's cited as why the Doctor can't fix his mistakes; although the stance has been softened somewhat by later events; but presumably, creating a paradox by returning to his (or his companion's) own direct time points would summon the Reapers again.

      Seasons 2-7(2) are my favorites. Tennant and Smith are my favorite doctors. I feel they are humorous mostly, but can fit into any other role or mood perfectly. While Capaldi could do the same, the writing let him down. The way I see it, Tennant’s era had the best plots, but the worst companions between Tennant and Smith. Smith’s plots were decent, but the companions were really enjoyable. Capaldi was just ruined by terrible writing.

      English Giraffe (NOTE: THIS IS MY OPINION!!) Series 9 was godly. Series 10 however was..eh..all though The Doctor falls/World enough and time was good. The Christmas special could have been WAYYY better. I disliked the fact that the Original Doctor turned out to be a Sexist. In real life William Hartnell was a racist and a sexist. I feel that Capaldi should've regenerated in The Doctor falls. And The Christmas Special could've been a series Eleven Prequel. In Conclusion Series Ten was a bit to Modern. And barely showed the relationship with Bill and Capaldi like him and Clara had.

    watching this makes me so sad. :'( i never saw it when it aired. i stumbled upon it and marathoned it, mere weeks before matt announced he was leaving. i was sad. i felt that i finally had a character that i could look forward to watching on a regular basis. i had added his characteristics to other characters (in fanfic) to make them cooler lol but with him, he's already everything lol with the major success overseas, decent job security and pay, playing the role of a lifetime as a hyper, clever, charismatic, dangerous space wizard. i mean fuck that right, thats certainly run it's course, there are bigger and better things like hollywood. people get bored and ungrateful. ive watched the few others things he's been in and it reminds me again just how underwhelming watching actors filmographies can really be.

    I’ve noticed that the colour scheme and design of this TARDIS interior was a bit similar to the RTD interior (even some parts of it was from the RTD interior).
    Like the whole of series 5, I think Moffat and his team are trying to show that no matter what Doctor it is or who runs it, it’s still the same show at heart and you can just as enjoy it as the previous one.

    Just a note for anyone who wants to get into the show but doesn't want a huge amount of catch up but also doesn't want to be caught out of the know with details about the Doctor's history, start with this episode and go from there. Yes, the Eccelston and Tennant years were brilliant, but most people don't want to add half a decade worth of catch up to their list if they can avoid it. That being said, do not skip to Season 10 and start then like Moffat said. He intended it to be a good jumping on point so that there could be a renewed checkpoint, but it's just trying to cram the Doctor's history down your throat in a cheeky and annoying way that holds your hand like you were a full grown adult being taught by their dad how to ride a bike for the first time. This is much better. This is the premiere of Season 5, which is when Moffat became full showrunner for better or worse, but I almost couldn't think of a better place for a newbie to come in. It puts in things early on that you'll better understand if you've been watching a while, but it subtly, slowly and satisfyingly catches you up as the Season goes on. It really doesn't leave you in any more dust than a show that has a premiere with the character running straight into action with lots of foreshadowy stuff that you'll find out more about later. I have been watching Doctor Who constantly for around 12 years and every person who I've recommended this starting point to has thanked me later. Now, without further ado, good luck and enjoy the show!

      @julieeverett7442 Před 2 lety +1

      sorry dear SEASON 10 is Jon Pertwees (3rds) era, and he leaves any thing the modern era has in the dust SEASON 5 is 2nds era, and the magic of 2nd and Jamie. You mean SERIES! And before you go on it doesnt matter, actually it does. Because there is a 26 year 7 doctor run BEFORE dr who came back in 2005, and if you count them as one long story SERIES 5 is actually SEASON 31!!! But yes, the 11th hour IS a good jump off point for someone who has never seen it before

    • @virt1one
      @virt1one Před 2 lety +4

      they have positioned the camera WAY back for a proper "long shot', plus it IS a much bigger set than the broom closets some others were. It's also split-level with open catwalks, which really helps improve the apparent size. Gives it just that much more "depth''
      I was just remembering back to earlier designs, the set really only accounted for about 1/3 of the control room. This one accounts for what appear to be closer to 1/2 or 2/3 of it. In a way I'd like to see them be able to run around it with a steady-cam and have it be a full 360 degree set, but that's very impractical in most situations. Even with a split-set, you have to have A LOT of lighting. Does anyone have a shot of what the entire set looks like, or even a picture from the doctor's perspective? I've love to see it!
