Christian metal gets overlooked, but the opening riff to Perfect Night for a Hanging by Tourniquet is one of the meanest riffs I've ever heard
I still remember hearing that for the first time as a sheltered home schooled kid in a Lifeway store.
It was the heaviest thing I'd ever heard and I've loved metal ever since.

For me the ones that make me do the stank face instinctively when i hear them are the opening riff to disengage by suicide silence and underground in america by Pantera

Oh hell yeah, that Nile riff is awesome! "Cast Down The Heretic" is another mean one. Another mean grunge riff is "4th of July" by Soundgarden, really makes great use of inverted power chords. Also, that's definitely Decaptated's meanest riff, but that main riff in "Last Supper" is also meaner than Nik Nocturnal's comment section 😂

I've been on a 90's metalcore kick lately and the closing riff to Botch's "Our Friends in the Great White North" absolutely crushes.
Procreation of the Wicked is on my list...I remember hearing sound samples of Sepultura's version online back in the late 90s and my jaw hitting the floor...like, what the heck is this riff?!? Like, damn.....many years went by before revisiting it and that got me way into Celtic Frost and Triptykon.

isolation by alter bridge has a solid mean asf riff. also love the ending riff to medicine by expire definite stank face energy and the main riff to high road by mastodon!
The middle riff in A Massacre in the North by Abominable Putridity is my fav riff of all time
the riff from the 2nd half of Zodiac by Melvins is subjectively one of my very favorites

This is a fairly underground pick, but the riff that starts Celestial Dictatorship by the British death metal band Abyssal is SO GOOD. Also, the opening riff on the title track to Leprous' Coal is crazy heavy.
Dude, I love Abyssal so god damn much. Antikataestesis is one of my favorite Death Metal albums of all time.

Meshuggah’s Immutable is chock full of fucking dirty as fuck riffs. The Phantoms breakdown is one of the heaviest things I’ve ever heard. Main riff in Ligature Marks and breakdown in Armies of the Preposterous are way up there as well.

It's really interesting that if you don't know the song, you're listening to the riff without the song. Therefore you're listening to the riff out of context. It makes it sound not that good.
But um sure if I listen to the whole song, they'll be freaking bangers.
bloodbath has some nasty riffs like in eat me, so does fear factory in their album "demanufacture"
