    Obama was there to encourage, just like a preacher at Pulpit....He is just offering a message of hope, it is up to the people to take on board that message and run with it!

  • @claudettecrawfordbrown5199

    Thank you President Obama. I am 61 years old and the last time I saw young people in Jamaica this engaged was in the 70's when I was at this stage of development,when Michael Manley was able to capture my attention as a youngster. I became committed to Jamaica then because of Michael Manley's then ability to engage young people. These youngsters need this guidance and guidance today, as they are what my 20+ son described as a" fatherless" generation. Meaning.....Few leaders care enough to talk to them like this on a regular basis. Please leaders, (community society and educators),.Lets use this opportunity to change the way we communicate with our Jamaican youth.

      Claudette Crawford Brown The man inspire in such a way that virtually none of the current Jamaican PM's can....If people don't like it...Too bad..

    He seems like the president of Jamaica!!!

  • @delroyconstantine-simms2265

    What makes me smile is this....If an African Leader came to Jamaica, no one would take any notice whatsoever....Jamaica is free but so colonial for historical reasons.

    President Kennedy spoke in German when he visited Germany in the 1960s. He said, "I am a Berliner." The crowd went crazy and that phrase is played over and over. It's a very famous part of his speech. Why are so many people upset that President Obama spoke in patois. As a good speaker you should speak in the language that the people can understand. You should speak on the level of the people. Plus it broke the tension and got everyone laughing. It will certainly be remembered.

      @delroyconstantine-simms2265 Před 9 lety +4

      soulshadoww55 The people complaining about him speaking in patois are some of the very same people that copy US slang,style of dress and trust me, are the same people that would not say no to a GREEN CARD!

      @delroyconstantine-simms2265 Před 9 lety +4

      soulshadoww55 You have a snobbish element in Jamaica who do not like their own accents, and also shun anything that is expressed in Jamaican patois. They are called Massers colonial children....

    The Rasta asked him about the HEMP industry, not about legalizing ganja...Obama did not listen to the question!

    • @ziggykruger
      @ziggykruger Před 9 lety +2

      Lash BZ the rasta shouldn't need to ask a question like this, a question on that matter should be directed to his own government. unless he is a us citizen then he should ask that in the us. probably thats the reason he didn't answer the question and awkwardly avoided it.he isnt the "rastas" president nor any other jamaican in that room.

    • @delroyconstantine-simms2265
      @delroyconstantine-simms2265 Před 9 lety +2

      Lash BZ Given the opportunity to ask a question to POTUS....All the dread could focus on was the legalisation of Weed! Hemp....Whatever! TYPICAL FOOLISHNESS!

    • @delroyconstantine-simms2265
      @delroyconstantine-simms2265 Před 9 lety +1

      Delroy Constantine-Simms Obamas is the President of the USA not Jamaica....Foolish question and the best way for the dread NEVER to get a Visa to the USA.....Short sighted in the highest order.

    • @delroyconstantine-simms2265
      @delroyconstantine-simms2265 Před 9 lety

      ***** Obama did answer the question! Most importantly, if an when weed is legalized, how is that going to lead to the development of Rastafari! ?

    • @ziggykruger
      @ziggykruger Před 9 lety

      Thats not the question he asked, however that is a good question, but not a question the rasta must pose to any government its a question they must ask them self and find the answer to. many Jamaicans sit down waiting for someone to do something for them, somethings you have to do for self. get back to do for self, then bring solutions to the government and have them implement what ever that needs be, being it is just and within the constitution. it is the government that work for the people. not the other way around.

    Yes China is investing but their cut of the country is so massive you guys will not be able to piss without permission. Just wait. Nobody does anything just because they love Jamaica its location with benefits. We as black folk must learn to see beyond the obvious. Beautiful streets in 30 years ain't nothing when you are not allowed to even walk down that street. Remember those words

      sharon terrell Barack is not the Prime Minster of Jamaica. More importantly, what is Jamaica doing to help itself. That is the question. Jamaica as a whole love ask for handout. If you want things done, ask your Prime- Minister in stead of Barack....As if he has an obligation to help Jamaica....He does not!
