    Hi everyone ! Owner here , just to give you a quick update on the car and the news is that it is all fine ! Car runs a lot smoother and better economy , was doing 45mpg before now up to 53 mpg . Second time I have used orileys and It's a 250 mile round trip for me to get down there but worth it as I know it will be diagnosed properly first time . Thanks Jimmy !

    Dpfs have been law since what 2009 /2010 yet were in the year 2023 and some garages still can't tackle them I find the whole thing bizzare well done on fixing this car tho you must be a busy man...

    I had of these, run from 90k to 170k miles in 2.5 years, thrashed it day in and day out, the more mileage it did the better it got, serviced every 12k miles cambelt and auxiliary belt at 125k, only issue i had was a split dpf pressure pipe, length off silicone hose and £3 fix and ten minute job. Serviceable items, set of trailing arm bushes at 150k miles and front discs and pads at same time. Was even on original exhaust clutch and flywheel when I sold it.

      I've got one, bought on 110k now on 120k, had it a year and it's absolute crap. Had new dpf, vaporiser, 2 of the same boost pipes, keeps splitting, paid hundreds on diagnostics and 3 garages including Ford main dealer and all say nothing wrong with it yet it still chucks out loads of smoke all the time. It's just luck of the draw, you got lucky

      @davidwbuck we have got two in our family (the 2.0 diesel), never had an issue with either of them, all have been serviced on time, and never miss a beat. If you watch Allan Howatt on here, he runs a fleet of them as taxis, some are approaching or probably exceeded 400k miles now, and he rarely has issues with the mk4, If he does, it's usually the fuel vaporizer. My 2016 mondeo mk5 2.0 tdci 180bhp, which is a euro 6 engine, that's not given any serious grief either, throttle body at 140k and clutch master cylinder at 126k, that is now on 160k. Variable servicing means I'm doing oil changes at between 8k to 12k miles, depending on how it's driven.

      @davidwbuck I've got one day to day it's been a great car I had vaporiser issue I get occasional smoking, they don't like supermarket fuel. Next time I have issues I'm gutting the dpf and have it remapped

    Changed a few of those hoses due to being perished. You can buy them as a pair quite cheap from ford. Maybe worth keeping a set on the van Jimmy

    those dpf pressure sensor hoses perish quite badly. I replaced mine with fuel hose and never had a problem with them after that. My Mondeo had 240,000 miles when I sold it

  • @Stoney3K

    That vaporizer appears to be a very common 2.0 TDCi issue. I've done a succesful clean on my blocked V50 (with the 1.5TDCi engine) using basic spray can-based cleaner, but now I'm wondering if a faulty EGR valve would prevent a regen. Not a really big deal, since I can easily access the pressure hoses from under the bonnet, but I'd rather have it back in working order.

    Is occasional smoke okay for these mondeos jimmy. Mine smokes occasionally but not all the time. Its had a vaporiser and dpf clean last year.other than that it runs fine

    Can we say that a more latest DPF is more reliable than those like the one in this Mondeo? Also, will there be a stage when a filter is of no hope for repair anymore and will have to be replaced?

    • @lint8391
      @lint8391 Před 9 měsíci +3

      Euro 4's and 5's seem to be more reliable than Euro 6's - as a sweeping general statement. Due to the added complication required to meet the Euro 6 standards.

    • @ORileysAutos
      @ORileysAutos Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yes. You obviously keep everything working. DPF only get blocked because of driving with other faults present or consistent short journeys

    • @alanc1406
      @alanc1406 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Never understood why people buy a diesel then do pottering mileage. Get a petrol.
    Cheaper to buy and the running costs will be much the same

    Looking at the MOT history of this low mileage car it looks a bit of a nail. It must live near the sea 🤔

    • @chucky2316
      @chucky2316 Před 3 měsíci

      That is road salt. Its nothing to do with living by the sea worst cars are Scottish and North East England cars.loads and loads of old cars running around in devon and Cornwall

      I’ve had my offside boost hose spilt on my 08’ 2.2tdi Titanium X Mondeo.
      And it still goes like a train.
      It had consistent other issues I cannot get to the bottom of though
