I am 56 years old and I remember seeing this in the theater with my father and brother! Gene Wilder will always be Willy Wonka to me! I can’t believe those kids were teenagers then-they looked a lot younger! I bought the dvd which had commentary from all the kids -including Denise Nickerson who was still alive-and they just were so delighted to be doing it together! It was such a delight to listen to! It was supposed to be that they each disappear when their character meets their fate, but when Violet turned into a blueberry Denise said “Oh do I really have to leave?” The others said “No you don’t have to leave.” So the final four all ended up staying till the end! The only one who had left was Augustus since he didn’t speak much English.
I love Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, I did see the Johnny Depp version and look forward To Timothee Chalamet's version!
Gene wilder was an absolute legend. RIP Sir ❤️🙏
So pleased to see Verucca is still alive! Sad so many are dead. Great movie.
That was a great movie. I was only 8 years old in 1971, the year it came out. I think that Julie Dawn Cole looks fantastic 😊. The whole cast was great. Peter Ostrum Will played Charlie did capture everyone's heart. Rip to All the cast who has passed away.
In 1971 I was 3. This movie was my second favorite movie. I didn't like the one with Johnny Depp, it was stupid.
my father was 2
@Snake99 do you own the 4K Blu-ray version of it?
I was minus 9
I was somewhere in my father's sack waiting for 1980.
2021: Peter Ostrum is now 64, the same age as Jack Albertson was in the film. Today there are only 3 surviving uncredited adult characters in the film left: Shin Hamano (age 93) who played The Japanese Candy Store Owner (who was seen in the start of the hunt for golden tickets and he had no dialogue) and 2 Oompa Loompas: Rusty Goffe (age 73) and Albert Wilkinson (age 83).
David, it seems to me, in my mind's eye, Jack Albertson will always be older than 64 and Charlie will be forever young.
@ David Farmer:
I went to school with Peter Ostrum during the early 1970s. He you truly is a very very nice person. Of course he was very popular too.
@@catman8965 I just suddenly remembered something. Someone who went to my secondary school said to me that a friend of his dad's played an extra in Charlie Bucket's class.
@@davidfarmer2193
Small world isn't it? 😊
@@catman8965 Even smaller, my grandad taught an Oompa Loompa played by Rusty Goffe at school a very very long time ago. :)
1971 I was born. Did not realize the movie is 50 years old. Still watch and enjoy to this day.
I wuz heartbroken when Denise Nickerson died. She's beautiful.
Julie and Peter look great for 64. I can't believe they're the sage age Jack Albertson was in the film.
Thank you Gene for this wonderful movie you did. Rip. Gene wilder
Roy Kinnear did not die of a heart attack. He died after a fall from a horse while filming the Three Musketeers in Spain.
Actually that is the accident that brought on the fatal heart attack the following day in a Madrid hospital.
The original was fantastic compared to the remake with Johnny Depp tho it was okay, U can't beat Gene Wilder spookily singing that chant on that boat, it was as scary as but great, he'll always be WW.
I love Depp as an actor, but Wilder could not be outdone as Wonka. At least Depp tried taking the character on in a different way. Creepy in its own way.
The Depp version isn’t a remake of the Wilder version both are adaptations of the book.
Depp played the part perfectly. Wonka has always been a dark and twisted character the Wilder version is beloved but completely inaccurate to how the character should be and Roald Dahl despised it. Dahl's wife was a crucial part in the creation of the Depp version and made sure it captured how the character should be. The story also reflected the nature of the book much more as well.
Overall the 2005 version is far superior and people only prefer the older one due to nostalgia.
The Johnny depp remake was terrible, I hated the Oompa Loompa singing, and I could barely tell which character was which, and I just hated it overall
@@CookKidOfficialIts more accurate and I do like it tho this one is more enjoyable
DAMN so
8 died
And only 4 are still alive
R.I.P. to all of the cast who died, y’all made my childhood very special.
Agree, 3 are alive Violet (Denise Nickerson) passed away in 2019.
What shocks me is how many died early rather than lived into their 80s or 90s
Even after all these year's, I still have the 'HOTS' for Julie Dawn Cole.
Gorgeous woman, and fancied her in the film too, ok though i was a kid myself at the time😂
This video is heart breaking 😭
Yes
YES😿😿🥲🥲😭😭😭😭😭
Just like Bendy chapter 4
R.I.P boris 2017-2018 died from his human friend Henry (because Henry was forced to kill him)
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Times a bitch
When they enter the heart of the factory, where the chocolate river is, no one had been allowed to see that set. Their very first view of it was filmed and their reactions in the movie are genuine.
Charley was indeed the goodest boy ever.
I was 5 when this came out, never would have I would be watching this in 2022
My ring tone is Wonka telling/yelling at grandpa Joe that the walls have to be sterilized and that you lose "good day sir"! And my notification tone is the Umpa lumpa flute. 😁
Wonderful movie.
I really look forward to seeing these. Thanks for sharing
❤ I was Blessed to watch Mr.Gene Wilder and his youthful Golden Ticket actors and oopa loopas on stage while performing at an Bob Hope Show 1973. Cotton Bowl Stadium Fort Worth Texas I'm now 59.
November was a bad month for cast members to pass away.
RIP
Rip to all of these actors&everyone😢🎅🎁🇺🇸
WILLY Wonka, I feel, was one of the FIVE GREATEST movie's EVER MADE.
Ok, HOW does the woman who played Varuca Salt still look that good at 64?? She’s still hot for crying out loud!
I was also 14 in 1971. I loved that movie and still do.
I was born in 1971
@@theplushsquadz935 your so rude why did you say that
You should be a shame of your self😠
RIP all who died
I really enjoy watching, your videos
Subscribed, of course
Keep up the good work
Charlie and the Chocolate factory 2005 same as Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory 1971.
Still a great movie today....... I have the 4k Blu Ray disc with the digital copy on my account.
Rip Denise nickerson
Rip roy kinnear
I still remember how humble the movie was.
I watched this in 2013 and still falling in love with Julie dawn cole
I wish they would have done a movie version of Charlie and the Great Glass elevator
Great movie I was born in 1986 I was not even thought of yeat but when I first seen this movie I like the movie a lot.
i learned that Gene Wilder took the acting part of Willy on the bases thats he could do his pretend trip over move when he first exits the factory to the masses waiting, he said that him being able to do that would levae the audiance and kids in two minds on if hes a truth teller or a tricksta .....loved this movie
Most pf the cast awy May rest in peace it is a great movie
It kinda makes me sad that most of the cast of one of my favorite movies are dead
Peter O., (Charlie) was an excellent actor in my opinion. I'm so glad he was chosen for this historic movie. His facial expressions were on point into believing his character.
I seen Willy Wonka when I was a kid
Thanks so much for all the their updates, Saved us a lot of time. Video is great👍👍
Sad that the majority are gone now.
Although the film was released in 1971, it was actually filmed between August and November 1970, so those boys during the film were a year younger than they mention in this video.
Is sad how most of them died... R.I.P
Rip gene Wilder
RIP Denise Nickerson
I didn't even knew that Denise Nickerson died until today.
Gene Wilder is not dead: he's become a Meme.
@Corn pop Yup, keep on doing the good one!
EXCELLENT FILM A++++++++
RIP Leonard stone
Peter Ostrum, a.k.a. ... 'Charlie Bucket,' TODAY, is a licensed Veterinarian in upstate New York.
As most of us know, Denise Nickerson after the movie, also played as Alison of The Short Circus on "The Electric Company".
They have almost all Died, that’s how they changed.
julie dawn cole...wow
i had the hots for her back then and still do.
shows you what a clean living life does to you..she's still delicous
good movie in the late 80's
So Charlie is as old as his grandpa now
And sending 5 more tickets.
Charlie kinda looks like grandpa joe
The best of Scandinavian "insider" Hollywood information
I liked Willy wanka and the Chocolate factory but I love Charlie and the Chocolate factory with Johnny Depp
This movie is still good to see today. I feel like eating chocolate.
PRETTY COOL THAT THE KID WHO PLAYED CHARLIE GREW UP TO BE A VET
@Jonathan Funnell That's true and that's great that Peter Ostrum became a veterinarian. He did mention that he had fun starring on the movie as Charlie Bucket but, he didn't have any interest in acting. He also mentioned the only reason he auditioned for the role as Charlie Bucket was because, in his Freshmen year of High School he starred as Charlie Bucket in "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" and that he had business to discuss with Gene Wilder and traveled to that state to talk with Gene. I don't know what business he had to discuss with Gene but, I can only guess that he knew Gene and Peter applied for Veterinary School around that neighborhood where the film was where Gene was introducing him to the deans of those schools as a recommendation. Gene must have done these things before and after rehearsals. I then remembered after the film was finished, Peter was invited to star on other films but he said he was refusing and headed back to his home state (probably to think more about being a veterinarian than acting).
He looks good in old age
Rip Jack Albertson
I remember him from the TV sitcom "Chico And The Man" with the late Freddy Prinze. (1954-1978)
I never knew that Jack Albertson was in the "Willy Wonka" movie because I didn't see it when it first came out in the theaters. I saw it many years later on TV.
Charlie/Peter will be 65 this year :D
The original was fantastic the remake with Johnny Depp it was fantastic boat, it was as scary as but great he always WW
You sound like Larry King with a accent 😊
😢❤😊😢❤😮 that was an emotional rollercoaster ride no way ❤loved that film
Thx 4 sharing
Gene wilder and I have same birthday
I was nursery school so I saw the movie when older but it scared me as a kid
Thanks for this update. Subscribed after searching for more info on this memorable movie classic. Sad to hear that several passed years ago.👍🏾💙
2:14 she was a great actor
A little but of their show episode, or what they have been doing all these years, would have been nice.
Nice video enjoy life it's short
That’s amazing how they’ve all changed you know I never realize the movie came out in 1971 when I was a kid and I watched it and I realized Charlie bucket was 14 in that
I think the ages are a little off. Ostrum (and Cole as well) just turned 13 towards the end of filming in the fall of 1970. They were the oldest of the kids, and would have been 14 by the end of 1971.
Thank you. Very great 🎥 😊🍫🍬🍭🍪🧁🥸. Photo comparisons nice.
Roy Kinnear died after an accident while working on another film.
38 in 1971 looks like 52 today
Gene Wilder has always been such a gentleman even in the Movie and that’s why he was also the best Willy Wonka ever, same with Peter Ostrum as Charlie and about Julie Dawn Cole not only she was the cutest one but i preferred her much more than the rest of the others, especially when she was acting naughty because she always wanted everything while being upset, such a great actress. 😂❤️
I saw the movie years ago, and frankly, I found Julie Dawn Cole's character, Veruca Salt, the most annoying of them all, the way she was such a spoiled little brat whose rich father gave her everything she wanted, just because she demanded it, always whining "Daddy, I WANT that! I want it NOW!" (At one point, she even sang a song called "I Want It Now!")
OH BROTHER!
If I acted or talked like that when I was a kid, my parents would yell at me and tell me to shut up!
@@michaelpalmieri7335 That’s why i loved her soo much, because she was constantly being annoying but yeah honestly no one should act like her at all. 😂
@@michaelpalmieri7335 yeah, but she's a hottie now !! Even at 64.
Peter don't leave us 🙏🏽
This movie came to the now, non-existant Eastfield Mall in Springfield, MA, in 1973. I look forward to the newest version!
Such a fantastic kids movie, still the best to this day. Great actors.👍😃❤️
The first movie i remember seeing .
Woowww, Veruca looks great ! She looks half as old as the others her own age, Good for her ! If thats in fact her photo of her in 2021, she looks like no older than 35 🤗. I love seeing people at their best and happy looking ! Great smile, very photogenic !
I was born in 1971
carro di carnevale 2017san mauro pascoli!!!!!!💖😘🌼👏
Rip diana sowle
I wasn't cast in this movie and I was convinced at the time they made a terrible mistake but I've gotten over it in the past 50 years.
What’d they do?
Damn! Mike (Paris) scored himself a hottie!!!
In 71 I was 12.
father time is a cruel sob
I remember crushin on Charlie before I even knew what crushin was or meant.
He's now a livestock veterinarian. Pretty cool.
I was in nursery school when it came out
How they changed: They became living impaired.
Charlie is still looking sweet.👍
He's a livestock veterinarian, too. Sweet!
It’s sad that Leonard stone died a day before he turned 88😢
WHY ARE MOST OF THESE DYING LOL
The entire cast almost
Because it was 1971 and most actors were like in there 30s or 40s and most of the kid actors are still alive though
I can honestly say, I’ve never actually watched this,
So many gone RIP
What did the Violet Beauregard actress die from? I’ve never heard of that.
Pneumonia. Basically a really bad inflammation of the lungs.
@@MsNinian1 Yes, I am aware what pneumonia is, I am a surgeon. However, the narrator’s pronunciation of it is absolutely appalling.
This is no offense, but you kinda sound like Dr Zoidburgh from Futurama.
