Now, I'm not British, but as Americans we share a very common problem... out of touch wealthy people in government. And by wealthy, I mean extremely. I'm not going to demonize someone for being a millionaire in politics, not your basic millionaire. But if you cross that 1/4 of a billion mark, you shouldn't be allowed to serve in government, elected or appointed (obviously this wouldn't apply to a a monarch, although I think a triarchy would be better). But over here we what I would say is a bigger problem... the wealthy and the corporations buying their way into politics through donations, and through hiring politicians as "consultants".
That was the British Prime Minister asking a homeless man, sleeping rough, & living on the streets if he is interested in working in the financial industry. He's a Billionaire, so has no concept of this poor mans situation.
The video that confused you a bit was the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, talking to somebody working at a burger place about finance jobs moving outside London. When Rishi Sunak asked the guy what he was doing for Christmas he said he hoped to get a place at St Mungos (a charity that provides beds for the homeless), so he didn't have to sleep on the streets.
This just demonstrates just how out of touch our Prime Minister is with what is really going on in this country - he has no idea at all.
The PM was "helping out" in a food bank and the guy was homeless.

Did he really think the guy he was talking to was the slightest bit interested in where in hell finance companies were moving to, when he was so obviously struggling in life? One look at his face could tell you that.🤯😞
@Laughs and Jokes and Toca world and Roblox Possibly at some point in the future he might be interested in a discussion like that. But in his present circumstances I'm sure he'd appreciate being told where he could go to, to stay for more than one night - a place with a guaranteed bed for him for every night - rather than have to sleep rough on the streets like he does. A conversation where he could be assured there was a place he could stay at where he would be warm & safe. Where he'd have access to a bed, food and hot water for a shower. Then he could start to rebuild his life and think of the future where, all going right, he could work at a financial institution.
That's the sort of conversation I would want, anyway, if I was in that person's shoes. A conversation where I could be given a guarantee that there was somewhere I could go to that could offer me long term support to enable me to turn my life around. Something USEFUL.
Makes me so angry. Its disgusting.
You have to marvel at our privately educated prime minister, who asks a homeless man what he's doing at the weekend, while in a shelter for the homeless.

A dog meat pie is literally a pie that contains meat from a tin that contains food for your dog, you add a little vegetables so they don’t get suspicious and top it with pastry before baking. I would just like to say though I have not done this.

I think it's probably a euphemism for something else to be honest, leaving a meat pie is slang for the smell left behind after someone has done a really smelly poo, work the rest out.

if he didnt notice then no harm no foul, tinned pet food is safe for human consumption anyway, it just tends to have a bit more jelly in it

Rishi Sunak, the current UK Prime Minister, volunteers at a homeless kitchen at Christmas and asks a homeless man if he has plans to find work in the finance sector. The homeless man replies that he "just wants to get through Christmas first..."
Sunak is so far out of touch with the poor and ordinary people that he has never had to experience the financial issues ordinary people face, as he has never struggled for anything a day in his life...

I took ‘dog meat’ to mean meat for the dog, the kind that comes in cans…usually made of horse or other meat with cereal to bulk it out, not meat that is made of actual dog. It doesn't help that in England you cannot vote until you're 18, but in Scotland I think it's 16 and 17 depending on what elections it is. However, when we're 16 we can move out, get married (with parental consent - which seems a bit odd), have kids, etc. It's all just really weird the age system. Saying that, America is even weirder with the drinking and buying guns age restrictions.

The bit that gets me is when she tells him that it should be decided together, in other words by her alone, I bet she never asks him his opinion when she wants to do something around the house.
That grated on me, why is she talking to him like he's a child? and in front of their child? You're meant to be in a partnership and back each other up, not drag each other down in front of others. It's why a lot of children only have respect for one parent instead of both or none at all. No respect for the abusive parent and no respect for the parent who doesn't respect themselves. She was quite aggressive with her tone.
I know both my husband and I have impulsively bought silly things over the years, no need to be ratty about it.

Lol @ the woman who couldn't pounce things. We had a few secretaries that handled the front desk from time to time. We had some independent sandwich vans come round to sell us lunch every day & the announcement always went the same. "Hello, the sandwich van is here. Well... Well, the chap being served some food at a Christmas 'soup kitchen' by our hapless prime minister, Rishi Sunak, was homeless. The chap was incredibly patient with the PM who, you could say on the PM's behalf, recognised that the chap was extremely intelligent and the PM probably couldn't understand why the chap was needing free food. The chap was very dignified and didn't go into that and just explained he wanted to get through Christmas...

I hear ya. I'm from the UK aswell (England) and have a hobby of making bespoke handmade cards : my friend from the US ordered some cards 2 weeks before Christmas, he still hasn't received them. It's the first time it's happened. Usually it arrives there within 1-2 weeks at the most. I use royal mail aswell. Xx

Dog meat pie isnt as bad as it sounds really, we have the pedigree factory and lab around here and they literally have a human taste tester for it, there is a lot of regulation in the uk that states the food used is passed off as fit for human consumption. basically, if you give your dog steak out of a dog food tin, you as a human could eat it knowing really, its just steak chunks
