- My Kimber Black Ice Finished was really dinged up and chipped after 1000 round break in, and every day carry. Kimber Took it back and kept her for 2 weeks and returned her Brand New!!! awesome customer service and excellent job! I am 10000% Satisfied with the results. Now after I shoot her another 500 rnds...I wonder how it will hold up?? stay tuned..
My new and unfired Kimber Micro 9 Rapide Black Ice had the same slide issue. I called Kimber, sent the photos, and they asked to have it returned for correction. The Kimber brand stands behind its products.
The spring plug is funny, but may not sit well with a jury of your peers if you would ever need to use your weapon. In any case, it's beautiful. I recently bought a Rapide Scorpius in 9mm. It shoots so smooth, it is my new favorite. I'm glad to hear that Kimber fixed your "idiot scratch" from the slide release. Be more careful. Take care.
Thanks for the info. I have the same Black Ice and love it - even my husband enjoys shooting it. Will be doing an inspection of mine and if there are noticeable scratches and dings, will be contacting Kimber. However, I don't know about going two days much less two weeks without it!
Believe me I understand 100% lol. But the turn around was fast and the CS was great. They answered all my questions. You will be pleased I'm sure.

Love the raptor . Colin noir did a review on this in the sun set version with the gold barrel and he loved it also . You think they would say it’s a custom shop , but it’s just the rapide black ice
I have a master carry ultra and yes for the money spent you would expect a better finish .

I would be scared with laws changing that you never get her back . It’s nice that they mail it back to your door . No reason to have to go pick her up at your FFL
Peace Man, I just purchased the exact same 1911 and after putting 300 rounds through it have experienced the nicking issue too. Have you had a chance to fire any rounds through your Black Ice since receiving it back from Kimber and how has the finished your gun?
Since I've gotten it back I have put around 300 more rounds through it. And no issues in Cosmetics or performance. So far so good.

Did they charge you to fix the scratches ? Or shipping ? I had a dummy scratch as well on my Colt and I was charged $120 for 1 hour labor and $70.00 plus shipping fee and tax.
NO They Didn't Charge Me. as far as I remember it was still under warranty.
Did you have to ship the pistol thru your FFL?
I didn't. Kimber sent me labels to take to UPS in its original case unloaded.

I admit that yes maybe I shouldn't have had this issue especially for the money. But I even dropped it and created a nice ding inthe front of the barrel and the still repaired it. I haven't had ANY mechanical issues whatsoever. So no company is perfect but from what I have experienced with Kimber was outstanding. And this alone will make me come back for my second Kimber.
