      On the 2007 Impala, it is a wing nut that you turn. A flash light looking down from the passenger side can help to reveal where you need to reach. It is hard to find at first. Good Luck.

    A helpful piece of advice. If the petcock valve is not easily turntable by hand, you can use a 7/8" deep socket with a 3/8" ratchet to get it loose. That was the only way I was able to get the petcock valve loose on my 2009 Chevy Impala with a 3.5L engine.

    Heads up for all you DIY’ers there’s a line at the bottom of the overflow tank. Fill it up to that line or just a bit above!!! I seen this video to see where the line was and I filled it up to where it’s at in this video and my coolant was pouring out!! I thought I had a hole in my tank but there’s a small vent in the back of the tank that pours out when the tank is full!!

    • @upinarms79
      @upinarms79 Před 5 lety +1

      Sounds like something to do with a temperature sensor. They usually fail slowly and that's one of the things that happens when they start to go out. I could also be a thermostat that's sticking and then popping open. If it's been a while since you've had a new thermostat, I'd start with that since they're cheap.

      It should be located on the passenger side, but it may be a little hidden behind a plastic cover or the air dam. If you can't find it on the passenger side, try checking the drivers side, some models had the petcock on the drivers side. If you can't find a petcock or drain anywhere on the radiator, you can drain the coolant by removing the lower rad hose (but warning, this can be messy)!
