@@zx3215 да. Но это каким то образом зависит от погодных условий и еще чего то.. На посадке с 6 км расстояния их может быть вообще не слышно, но на взлете ревут дай боже. Впрочем, как и на эшелоне - их звук не спутаешь с другими винтовыми. Ну а Ту-160 это отдельная песня!))

Dears, there's something missing in the world: a supersonic low altitude flyby with a russian plane.
The Tu95 that dropped Tsar Bomba was painted with white ablative coating. Some areas of the plane had been ablated to the point that a ballpoint pen could punch through the metal skin.

@@Gav_na_tebya It means that it is incredibly wasteful to spend the money to modernize a plane that will only be usable for 10 years. It’s the sort of thing you do when you have no other choice. In any functional economy it would be considered a stopgap; a failure of planning. It would only be done to tide the Air Force over until a replacement is operational. The US did something similar with b-52, if you squint, but they understood cost/ benefit analysis which is why the b-52 modernization includes a 30+ year service life extension.

@@shmeckle666, For the voice translation it was a real human, it is an automatic machine translation to subtitles now. As a Russian, who speak English quite well, it has a lot of mistakes, especially with the military jargon words or abbreviations in Russian.

Да не летает Ту-95МС 70 лет! Самый старый - 1978 г, самый новый - то ли 92, то ли 93 - где 70 лет-то? Те модификации, которым 70 лет, распилены давно, все МС строились заново. А вот самому новому B-52 - и правда за 60.

Calling bullshit that the tu95 can carry more then the b52b look it up while typing the b52 can carry 70,000IB and the tu95 is 44,090IB. Comparing b52 and tu95 on fuel consumption is dumb, one has jet engine's one has turboprops. Calling bullshit at 28:03+.Why will 2 b52's and a tanker land in Russia,makes no sense. At 28:50 the b52 flown for 45 hours and 19 minuets. At 29:13 B52 beat its again b52 flown 24,325 tu95 17,398.393(if you want to round it up 17,400). B52 only did 3 refueling's,done in 1949.
You lie. Two types of jet engines exist - turboprop and turbofan. Turboprop is also jet engine with some differences in construction with Turbofans but it also have nozzles, compressors, etc. . It's more economical but can't be very fast. 8 turbofan engines consume much much more than 4 turboprop engines. B-52 burns entire train of fuel in one flight. So, why Tu-95 should care if it can accomplish all types of missions. Yes, it has less payload, but who cares? B-52 was often used for carpet bombing of cities of Vietnam and Iraq that didnt' have anti aircraft defense. Tu-95 does not carry any bombs at all. It's more like flying nuclear strategic submarine and carries the same number of strategic missiles as most submarines do.
And you lie about 45 hours. Give me links please, When and where it happened. One flight of B-52 is extremely expensive. that's why Tu-95 patrols everywhere around the plannet. while B-52 just stays in bases and rust.
Last B-52 that USA uses was built in 1962 and never built since then. Russia uses only latest modification - MS., that was built in 80s and 90s. So, Russian strategic bomber is 30 years younger than USA's
Tu-95 mission today is to carry long range guided missiles-including hypersonic missiles. It doesn't carry gravity bombs anymore, so gross weapon load is immaterial. It has been very effective carrying these missiles in the Ukraine conflict. As for the 'jet engines vs turboprop', that's kind of a meaningless comparison.Turboprops are simply jet engines with the intake vanes on the outside of the engine cowling-everything else including compression section, combustion chamber and turbine section is exactly the same as a conventional jet engine. So why use turboprops instead of classical jet engines-they are more economical on fuel for one reason. Douglas Aircraft considered going from fanjets to propjets on it's DC-9 series airliner, for fuel economy reasons. Yes, the Tu-95 cruises at roughly 80 MPH slower than the B-52, but that really doesn't impact it's mission so it's meaningless. The one valid criticism of the Tu-95 is that it has been very loud in operation (so is the B-52, but at a higher sound frequency!), but Russia is upgrading their fleet with new improved engines and new props, intended to reduce noise and vibration significantly. It really has been and remains a viable bomber for the mission it is fulfilling, I expect them to continue to be updated for another 15-20 years.
