Is the angle on your double flares 45 degrees? If so, how does that work with the AN fittings as I understand that they are 37 degrees? I'm asking because I'm about to make my first set of brake lines for my Factory Five Mark IV. I have the Eastwood double flare tool and the single flare accessory. I was planning on doing single flares to hook up to the -3 AN fittings I'm planning on using. But after watching what you're doing, I'm wondering if there is a way to go with a double flare with AN fittings for my application.
A double flare is for 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 1/2 only and the cone makes a 45 degree flare. When you make a single flare with the 45 degree tool, the sleeve of the AN fitting pushes it up against the male part of the fitting and makes a seal. I used the same tool for both double flare and the AN fittings. They all sealed perfectly. Don't buy a cheap flaring tool, they will make it more difficult. All of the tee fittings I used are AN fittings and the connectors to the caliper hoses are double flare.
Sick machine, it's going to sound and go hard I think. What are your opinions on heat shielding for brake lines? At the moment I'm looking at having to run a turbo dump pipe past a brake line and it's sticking about an inch into the available space.(going to have to neck a 4" down to 3" to clear manifolds as it is). Would you recommend light persuasion with a rubber mallet or just re-make the brake line to free up the clearance?
Thx for your videos...very helpful! I have a 2003 Street Beast 427 Cobra, with a 351 Windsor...and love it. Twice in the past 6 months, I have driven in a local parade. After drive 6-7mph for 60 minutes or more, the steering on the car becomes extraordinarily stiff. Once the car cools down, the steering returns to normal. Any idea why this might be happening?
The flare kit is part number 051-345-900 (at least the instructions inside have that number). A cheap one like from Harbor Freight will not work so well on steel.
Hi Pete I love your work my name is James Wood I have been in the business for about 25years. Getting ready to try and start my own shop working out details with the building owner if that goes ok then I'm going for it any advice would be greatly appreciated
great channel great machine, not the most attractive fans or are they for replica/factory. You will loose alot of cooling without any shroud on the fan and be careful with the blades close as the air flow coming through when the car moving will flex the blades back into your radiator
Very instructive
Thank you my friend
Great job Sir Happy New Year
Happy new year Jonathan

1St!!!!! Hahaha been waiting on your new video for a hot minute

A brake line is easier to make that a dump pipe. Move the brake line to make sure it doesn't get too hot.
Pete's Garage Easy, I'll see if the local mob will flare it for me after I've made one up

It may have to do with the steering linkage path and parts
Hey Pete I love the vids like always, was curious what's the flare kit from rigid was that? Seems like an awesome setup. Thanks Pete

What is the source (brand) of your dual fans. I hope to set up a similar cooling system
I bought those on Ebay. Just search Shelby Cobra kit car cooling fan kit

You're powder coating the chassis right?
I will blast and epoxy coat

They are replicas of what was originally used. I know it is inefficient, but I'm trying to maintain the original look.
nice work
I'm not to fond of making those double flairs on brake line, but I make them anyway.
I have never had a problem
