Cant wait to see what happens with the stadium exciting
We need 80,000 if we really want to challenge the gangster 6 big style on and off the field. So redevelop or revamp wor Cathedral will both cost nearly as much as build a brand new one plus a ball ache and 2 seasons of major NUFC disruption and probably only increase to 65,000? Heartbreaking but build a Geordie Wembley of the REAL north and let’s fill it with brutal noise! In PIF we trust…
I think we had people moaning that we werent going anywhere under ashley and now people are moaning about moving stadium. People need to realise that to grow as a club we need to change to increase revenue and to be honest people talking about history i dont get it our history isnt anything to shout about, we can create history but only if we expand.
the Arena is closer to the Central Station than what St James is. You are next to the Redheugh bridge and on Scotswood Road that brings traffic in from the bye pass and Scotswood Bridge. Metro's at the central station and space for as many cars as you need all around and under the new stadium. plenty of bars down there and plenty of buses to take you home afterwards, whats not to like about the the old Lead works land.
My only proviso would be when they come to knock down St James Park they build the countries largest home for Chronic drunks and down and outs and build it all the way along where the East Stand is now. Then let those Arsehole that have whinged on about frigging Light have all of the stuff they have craved for and of course some new neighbours to lighting up their sad frigging lives .
Ah, there's one more thing I want for a new stadium, I want a big blue star at the top that lights up at night...that shows everybody it's our stadium !
It’s not going to the Arena area or the brownfield land I know from the builders who have stated to build there it’s a no go for a new SJP
Perhaps it will perhaps it wont but for over a decade not one house has been built nor has any planning permission been granted. The Arena owned by Americans will be demolished in the the next couple of years both tranches of land free plus the Heliport which is almost defuct thanks to "Drones" tells me its still not off the table as yet.@@MagpieGeordie
The point about a new stadium is that you get one that works 24/7 rather than just match days
Like Tottenham stadium
I don't know if you watch Eddie Hopes channel Tyneside Life but he seems to think we could encroach onto Leazes Park 20 - 30 metres but not like the pictures being put up on social media showing the Stadium starting where the entrance to the Park up the straps where the away Buses park. I'd be all for them demolishing it and rebuilding further into Leaves Park if possible. I just don't know where we'd play for 2 seasons if that was the case.
They could build temporary stands at Gateshead stadium easy I work on the the Edinburgh royal tattoo putting up the the stadium every year for the tattoo 10.000 seats it’s purpose built and goes up and down every year takes us about three month to put it up it cost around four million to build originally put foundations in etc and build the stands it’s easy done
Let's move st,James Park has had its days
Eddies often wrong on what he says. He refuses to listen to anyone but himself.
@@Justlookin958Yep hes full of it
@@user-hs9tb8wf2lNo need . Just build a new stadium on Castle Leazes use St James Park till its ready then move in
Happy to see Joelinton progress. Unless SJP can get close to 70000 we need to move. A Wembley of the north would be amazing.
What happens if we can expand it to 67000?
@@RuudKuntzstay at SJP
Should build a brand new mega stadium in Leazes park, no brainer. The club can then convert SJP land and Gallowgate land to park, and slide the council a few Bitcoins! Everyone's a winner... and build the stadium so massive that it's still the cathedral on the hill, and call the stadium St James in the Park!
Change is inevitable! Can you imagine a brand new 80,000 stadium with retractable roof designed like some of those magnificent American stadiums ? One of the toughest decisions to leave the old stadium at St James park heartbreaking but essential and will be Wembley of the North ?
Rebuild on leazes park. When its said this can never happen then it must be pushed to the max to get this done. The objections are because of the grade 1 listed "structures" in the park, bandstand, steps etc. These can easily be moved compared to the grade 1 listed buildings behind east stand. For me this is the most logical route to take and a battle that needs to be won against the conservationists
It is possible to demolish grade 1 listed buildings. The Saudis own Leazes Terrace. I wouldn't be surprised if half of it is demolished to make room for a complete expansion. A full capacity would be around 75000 unless we increased the height of the stands
It’s a difficult one, yes if it could be moved to Leazes park with a possible 70,000 stadium ok. That still keeps us with the cathedral on the hill. If it can’t be done then maybe by the Utilita arena with training pitches and possibly small ground for other under 21s etc.
We should move St James’s and build an ultra modern stadium with an 80000 capacity.
Developing ST James’s is just not practical sadly
Sick of closed minded people banging on about keeping st james!….. it’s stifling the potential of the club, to hell with nostalgia and build the best stadium in the UK from scratch.
The tweak of incorporating St James’s within the park is the best solution all round. Yes, k ok down and rebuild but better for all concerned. Makes so much sense and keeps us where we are to all extents and purposes. Yes, disruptive while it happens but that’s the same with other possibilities and solutions but ultimately provides perfection. How beautiful it would be!
make it longer, but impossible to make it wider, Grade 1 buildings will never be moved !
The arena is a 5 minute walk from St James so don't see the problem could be a good opportunity for new pubs and restaurants around the scotch Rd area
Yep, better & nearer transport facilities, a rail line going straight past would stop these, sometimes, violent marches some European fans ask to do which shuts down, not only our city (cutting off shops, pubs, restaurants before the matches from early afternoon & deprives them of revenue & us of enjoyment) but as far away as Four Lane Ends , ask the taxi firms how many of their cabs were stuck in a log jam during the 2 marches that DID happen, ask the folk who were stuck at work in Blyth, North Shields and far beyond who were due to go to the matches but couldn't get home to change because all roads were blocked to , firstly, public transport & then private vehicles !
Rob the people who own the leazers park are having huge issues funding it. They went to the government for funds and they said no. I think it will happen that way with leazers park.
It’s like signing a new player with Big Joe signing a new longer deals, which he deserves. Can’t wait to see him back and now looking forward to a big finish to the season. HWTL
It's a reward for sticking with NUFC... he prob would have wanted away in his No 9 role, but now he's one of the best in the EPL and caught a lot of manager's eyes, but he loves the Toon and shows so much passion when he scores... Great that he's ready to sign!
As someone who gave up his season ticket twice(Bobby's sacking/Ashleys' cockney mafia) I'd love to get it back, and a brand new 80,000 seater stadium is the only way that will happen...... but .... I'm struggling with that bcoz every ounce of my being is telling me - We must stay at SJP, it's special and cements a link with the past and the history of how the Stanley cricket club of Byker became Newcastle united.
I think we should let the numbers decide. So, the next city, county, tyneside wide council elections, we elect anybody running on a platform of knocking down those grade 1 listed facades and granting nufc the space to expand sjp to the capacity REQUIRED by the citizens of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the surrounding areas.
I'm née philistine but honestly grade 1 Georgian buildings mean nothing compared to the ability to get my son and grandson a fucking season ticket sitting next to each other watching the lads at sjp. There's plenty more grade 1 listed buildings in our wonderful city to enjoy, a hell of lot, but there's only one SJP, and we're all only here for a finite amount of time.
Put it to the numbers and see how many listed building fans there are versus nufc fans. The public gets what the public wants, right?
LISTEN I AM BLACK AND WHITE THROUGH AND THROGH BUT ST JAMES SPECIAL WE HAVE NOT WON ANYTHING WORTH ANYTHING SINCE 1955 NEW STADIUM YES BUT NO REGRETS
I don't understand why, when the town Moor in its entirety covers an area of around 1000 acres, and yes, I know it's "owned" by the freemen of the city, but surely for the good of the entire region economically they could lease over to NUFC more than enough space to build a magnificent 80,000 seater state of the art world class stadium. Even Wembly Stadium only covers 11 acres.
We have to move if we want to compete at the top, but it has to be on the arena site or castle leazes. The developers who bought the arena site could double their money without picking up a shovel if they sold it to nufc
New stadium plans sound like a positive endeavor for NUFC long-term. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds over time.
Nudge the ground over into part of Leazes Park still allowing games to be played during the building process. Once complete return part of the old ground into new Leazes park extension where people can feel safe to use even closing the park at night. The Arena site a nightmare after concerts to drive away from or to be picked up from so how could that be changed to be otherwise ?
The defense and attack was top notch on saturday🖤🤍
...agreed - now WE just need 'a bit mor consistency' in our defensive line-play. ~c'monnnnnn!!!
Next home game Rob do a video of all the named bricks of fans who have passed away but never forgotten, all history ❤
A mega state of the art NUFC stadium would be amazing with the new owners in charge i’m pretty sure they will build one of the best stadium in the world I have no doubt about. The city centre can be developed with new businesses and apartments which will provide more jobs for the locals of Newcastle. With a new mega stadium a new atmosphere will be creating if not it will be better than what it is right now. Newcastle united are looking at Liverpool, Man City and Spurs new stadium and training facilities and want the same with NUFC and you can’t blame them for having that ambition for the club and fans, the difference is with the financial power that they have they will be able to create a stadium and training facility that would even make Real Madrid envious. Think about this the last owner would never think of building a new stadium 🏟
Why only 80’000 seater, why not a 100’000 seater stadium, under PIF and the KSA they have the money power to create something massive. YOU HAVE TO MOVE WITH THE TIMES.
Oh what a few weeks of injuries we didn’t know coming… including Williocks season being over 😢 3:09
Rob 👍
Aye the dream scenario is a Bigger St James' park where it stands for all the fortress arguments, being able to get tickets and just seeing the cathedral up on the hill looming over the city. Love it , but I'm beginning to see the benefits for a new stadium on a site near by.i get it but my choice if I had one would be stay up on that hill 🫡
think has to be new stadium, for future of the club
Totally agree
100% needs to be at the arena!
Build your northern Wembley move .
The new stadium near Scotswood rd? Blaydon races, " down Scotswood Rd, to sing the Blaydon Races" sounds appropiate to me.
All well and good, sounds the best idea to stay at St James's but where do you think we're going to play while that's being built?
The arena was purchased by a group including Newcastle city council this has fallen through due to lack of funding also the marshalling yards has made it a problem due to high costs of landscape and that's from a councillor,
We need the old SJP but more then 70000
I see both sides of the discussion for stay and leave. I’ve supported Newcastle all my life I’m in my 60s. Can’t get to a game for love nor money. Yes to stay would be amazing but sometimes sacrifices need to be made to reach your final goal. I hope SJP isn’t one but we need to supporting what’s best for the club
I think most fans are 50- 50 on it Robbo but it has to be a 70000 seater mate
I’m worried if we move to a new stadium it either ends up being great like the Tottenham stadium or horrible like the London stadium
We don't want a bowl. The atmosphere is shite inside them. I'd like a square shaped Stadium with separate stands.
why would they build a football stadium like an athletics stadium ?
It will be one of the saddest days ever when that stadium comes down😢
Football is gone and your club, I fear, is also gone. Your new benefactors don't care about you, your city, your club or your tradition and history. I have had the pleasure of attending several matches at St James' Park (the real one, not Exeter) and it is a triumph, a sight to behold. Not enough for the money men though. They will trash your club for their short-term profit and you need to let them know right now if you can see through to their intentions. We are at a tipping point where we face SJP going, Old Trafford going, White Hart Lane, Highbury and Goodison gone. It's one thing moving from The Dell because houses back on to half of one of your stands and it can't be developed. It's another thing entirely when the theatres of our fathers and granfathers dreams are demolished for no other reason that to line somebody else's pockets. Demonstrate now before your club is effectively gone forever. Their reasons for moving are the most transparent of lies. They serve themselves NOT you and your like.
I’m torn. But sadly I think we need a new stadium & training centre. SJP could be utilised by NU Lasses, who are on the way up to the WSL soon. Think big, the future is bright - it’s black & white! 🖤🤍
Leazes Terrace will be knocked down and we'll expand St James to 75000
Not possible,it has never happened in the UK before.
Listed building.
@@midlandgeordie the Saudis own it. They will be able to sort out an agreement to get half of it or all of it demolished
Joelinton was on £40k a week. 40k! That's nothing for a premier league footballer. No wonder he was unhappy with it.
don't forget he was absolutely shite for the first 2 years of his contract and £40 grand a week seemed huge then so I think that balances out really mate
So maths here working on a average ticket cost of £110 for this season over 19 home EPL games not taking in account Europe games or cup games.
SJP: 52000 Seater = £108,680,000
New Stadium: 80000 Seater = £167,200,000
To get past FFP and fight the big boys for the cups its sadly going to be a new stadium, SJP unless giving the space is really not going to be suitable for Newcastle United. It will be a very sad day to see the team leave SJP but also exciting for the teams future domination.
I understand what you say about location and tradition but to to help facilitate the transition NUFC needs over the next decade it's not enough I don't believe. The Council would never agree to your suggestion of our control of Leazes Park like that, neither would the various groups either. Even Eddie Hope's suggestion of a Leazes Park lite scheme whilst it may be workable is not what we need. I have been around the Etihad Complex and that is the sort of infrastructure that you need to build a footballing empire around...and they did. Fantastic ground, training pitches, places for all levels of your footballers.
Also I do feel it is important to greatly increase the capacity of the stadium - to 75 or 80,000. Why I think this would work in Newcastle is because there is a proven high demand for seats/tickets that is not being met, which would only rise with success. In Darren Eales we have someone who appreciates the importance of a stadium and one of the plus's of a matchday Newcastle crowd is the effect on the opposition; that is why I feel a new stadium would be built to accommodate that.
Lastly we mustn't forget the greater potential for income generation the larger, more versatile stadium would offer. Those advocating remaining, in some form at/ adjacent to the current St. James's where where the largest capacity could never be achieved, in my opinion, but believe so doing for admirable reasons of history and tradition. I just think that it serves as a barrier to entry for a generation of potential Newcastle United supporters in much the same way that the EFL maintains the hierarchical status quo through FFP/PSR whether intentionally or not.
Whether the Govt. would allow the redistribution of the planned housing scheme to be come the new NUFC Complex, in my opinion would be 70:30 against at best, they don't usually operate like 'big business' (eg Strawberry Place) where money talks. But it would be the best option.
NOOOOOO! to moving T. James' Park. Something has to give in the matter of expansion. Moving the stadium outside of the city centre would be catastrophic and lose all that is the history and charm of an iconic football venue.
yep.. have to agree.. goodbye st.james.... hello PIF arena...
ffs.. sometimes the price of progress is too high....
GET REAL THEY HAVE NOT WON ANYTHING WORTH OUT SINCE 1955 HISTTOLICAL MY ARSE
The point you made ‘bout buying a JoeLinton replacement is the main issue. Retention is always better than recruitment.
Next year we'll be playing juventus ....mackems be playing frey bentos 😂
Howay Rob Son...
...Toon Toon Black & White Army Sports-Fans FC 147...
I must be missing something here but to those people who say we need to move stadium to increase revenue and compete with the big boys... what would be the point of increasing revenue when we're not allowed to spend what we've got now thanks to financial fair play bollocks?
The guy is good but im worried about recurring injuries
Didn’t want to move but if it’s near were we are now and much larger I will be in favour of a move look at the money the club can make with more fans getting in and the atmosphere it’s gan to be mint
Can’t move to the arena. Too far from the pub and drunken fans could fall in the Tyne. 😱
GROW UP
@@thomas.robson8212 Bit rude. Maybe grow a sense of humour?
I've said it before, perfect storm of injuries this year, both strikers never fit, and wilock, big Joe and tonali, 3 midfielder s who inject loads of physical energy, having players like that available makes a huge difference to how the team plays, not least the defense
Big Joe must be one of the highest earners he’s a fantastic player and to replace him would cost a fortune and then probably if your paying top dollar top wages come with that he’s worth every penny Robbo
A new stadium will be built. They will want to keep as loseto the city centre as possible as its a unique attribute. But the new owners want to be the best in class in everything they do, and they will want a new 80k seater to beat spurs' new stadium and extending st james' simply won't be good enough for them
I think the leazes park idea is realistic
man city never moved stadium and they are doing perfectly fine
That's definitely not happening with the stadium already that was mentioned but nonsense
A new stadium would be great and I think they should let the women’s team have st James park
Longstaff is far far faaar from great.. but you are a humble guy.
keep st james park for the women team and kids team it be good for them
Great to hear that Joe's staying - he deserved more money considering what other players are supposed to be on. We need to keep all our important players.
100k thats a bargain for joelinton. get him signed
100k a week joelinton would be mad to accept that . he shoukd be on £130-150k a week
Look at the buildings that the Saudis are building, the wall, a 2km tall tower to headquarter pif, and then tell me they are not going to build a super stadium on a new site that will be the greatest in the world,
stay at the current location and find away to expand
Good news that Jo is Sign in new Contract😅😂😊
I just hope if we do have to move from st James park I hope it doesn’t ruin our brilliant atmosphere
😂😂😂😂😂😂
St James certainly a different ground from when my Dad first took me in 1965 and how much has it changed since then! If we want to compete and be a top 4 club with CL every season we have to expand. If that means moving the stadium to Leazes park so be it. This is not the time for sentiment. We need a 70,000 + stadium if we are going to compete with the best simples!
I'm only here because of all this talk of building on leazes park. I was born and raised on leazes crescent ,as was my still living 99 year old mother, and literally five steps from the park. It's heart breaking to listen to and read so many people here saying yeah, it'll be brilliant to tear down an historic city centre park all for watching a bunch of guys kicking a ball around a pitch, all funded by foreign money. What exactly is wrong with the stadium you have? Is 60,000 people not enough? What happens when the bubble bursts? And it will I assure you. What are you left with then? Being a proud Geordie is not just about shouting for nufc. Money no doubt will win the day and no doubt I'll be attacked here for calling this out for what it is if it goes ahead. Vandalism.
WHAT A JOKE
You could not of done a better open show mats thanks
Won't move lad and he's not signed contract yet steady on
Have they came out and said this or is this just another CZcamsr making a video about it because two others have.
Time to move build a new stadium give SJP to the ladies team & Rugby team
Staying at St. James' will badly limit the revenue we can generate - which in turn will mean we won't be able to spend anywhere near what the top EPL clubs can spend due to FFP/PSR.
Leaving St. James' isn't ideal but the reward for moving out of the city centre should be a team that can challenge the likes of Man City etc., at the top of the league and in Europe.
The tougher questions are where exactly the stadium should be built & how to pay for it without falling foul of PSR.
I can't stand the idea of moving stadiums. How quickly people are willing to abandon history and soul to a brand spanking new soulless stadium just to get a few extra thousand through the door scares me
I hope the council force a new stadium onto the club by restricting any expansion applications, the owners have the money and I would rather see it relocated than to encroach on any of the surrounding areas. Theres more to our beautiful city than just the football club and thats coming from a fan of 50yrs.
There's a few issues with leazes park, idk of its the same now but when they were considering mivign strawberry place into the park, plans were put on hold for a bat colony that lived there, it's also listed so there's legal complications to any work being done on it, similar to how strawberry place limits the stadium being improved as is.
Although Dan Ashworth is employed by NUFC, he will be looking players for MUFC
Copying man utd cos you feel left out?
Not mentioned til now???
Always will just be a small club in Sunderland !!!!!😂😂😂
Speculation and clickbait
Doon at the arena for me now ye can't see sjp anymore coz of the buildings around it build the best stadium in the world ye not far from the station and it'll regenerate the area with bars and restaurants etc put a lit up arch on it a nod to the Tyne bridge 👍🖤🤍
