- This aircraft is a Curtiss JN4 Jenny from the non-profit organization "Friends of Jenny" in Bowling Green Kentucky. The interview was with C. Dorian Walker, JN4 Aviator "Friends of Jenny" Chair, Board of Directors. The event was the Tenth WWI Dawn Patrol Rendezvous 2016 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
Please note: Some of the sound during the interview is from a radio controlled aircraft and is not intended to be the sound of the JN4 aircraft in flying scenes.
when my grandmother was a little girl she got taken for a ride in the first airplane that she had ever seen. It was a Jenny !
She's beautiful. You guys are doing an awesome job keeping her flying. I've been to the USAF museum 3 times and didn't see everything there
Sounds beautiful too
Beautiful Plane! Arguably the first practically usable planes ever produced.
Thank you so much for saving this piece of history. Read in a book that the plane was used in 1918 during WWI in France. Amazing facts 65mph only to fly! WOW!
My great grandfather used to drive 65 miles in a Model T to watch these birds fly out of Kinloch field, now Lambert International Airport. He wanted to fly. Great grandmother threatened divorce if he did..!
Damn man, the last line!
My grandfather trained in Champaign Urban and flew these in various locations. I have original photos with squadrons up above the clouds, American and French Generals Field Marshalls and hand drawn route maps with colored pencil.
That’s a cool plane! Love to see one in person.
Your great grand father as you know, flew one of these in the 1920s
Fabulous video! Answered my question from another video about how the ailerons are pulled down, still can't figure out how the are pulled up.
Very awesome
Beautiful!!!
Green Acres had an episode about this plain.
All my life.
Nice little bird!
Anybody else notice the C-130 on the restoration ramp? What's up with that? New display or being used for parts?
That one is used for the 711th Human Performance Wing.
Why all the circuit breakers ?
Thank you for sharing this. Was it originally equipped with the Hispano engine?
no it had the ox-5 v8 designed and made by curtiss
First lady " Jenny " .
Too bad it crashed, but glad you're alright
My name is Jenny!
😃
JN4 with a starter???
Is this original or a replica
It is a pity the annoying two stroke engine noise in the background.
I wonder if you could get a reproduction made and I wonder if the original had seat belts so if you were doing acrobats up there you wouldn't fall out
You cant do aerobatics on this, is just not that powerful
1:00 YUP! Mostly 'murican history ;-)
