You cracked me up when you introduced the "SWISS" bag! :D It is a Swedish armed forces gas mask bag. The pockets are intended to store extra filters, rubber gloves and other counter measures for bacterial, chemical, radiological and nuclear attacks....

The German one is a Luftwaffe bread bag, most likely West German, and FYI the little J Hook buckles were to hang from the belt, similar to civil war style you'd cross shoulder your haversack and then put the waist belt over, the hook would keep it in place and take SOME weight off the shoulder

Have ordered many items from SG. Price is hard to beat. In 35 years I only encountered one problem. A surplus pack arrived and stank to high heaven. I tried to soak and scrub it to no avail. Called SG just to see what they would say. They handled it like champs. Refunded my CC charge and advised me to dispose of the item, which I did. Great customer service.

Oh and the German "Military" surplus isn't anything I saw when I was in the Bundeswehr. It's probably a THW (Technisches Hilfswerk) bag - would fit with the blueish color as well.

Im pretty sure the loops and flaps on the backs of some of those are for securing them to a belt so they don't bounce around, get caught on things, swing around, etc. I bought a kind of messenger bag to use as a haversack, was marketed as a ~$100 messenger bag/shoulder bag, but built to look somewhat military-ish, that has a loop like that, very handy. Found it for $15 on FB Marketplace, from a sweet older lady lol. Yes, I'm literally carrying a purse around the woods :D

They're all good basic field bags, it's just a question of treating the cloth bags to up their 'water resistance' (to keep their 'wet weight' low). Given that you can get decent quality zip-lock bags in all sizes (up to a gallon), serious water-proofing is more of a luxury than a must. I'd only look at the gas mask bags if they can be re-hung so that the entry flap is 'up'...don't need the contents falling out when accessing the bag, otherwise, on the plus side, the bags interiors looked like they had been water-proofed.

I have used a haversak (man bag as my daugther's call it) for years for shows and hikes. Went through a few until i realized that the biggest factor for me was a nice wide sholder strap. The thinner ones of 1" or less seem to really bite after a while. A 1.5" to 2" are nice or an extra wide piece/pad at the shoulder are near perfect.

Sideways bag was probably designed for a gas mask

Looks like they sent you a bunch of garbage. But you done a great review but a little to fast. Keep up the good work!

Difficult to watch, flying through bags and flipping all around. Maybe the table would have been better to display.

Brian.... why did you rush through the review?? If it's worth doing, do it well! This was so disappointing. Should have been tabletop so you could give us a better view of the interiors. Felt like you were jamming the items down our throats. You stood too close to the camera, trying to show us more detail. There were several there I would have liked to see in greater detail, not so rushed. Haversacks are a terrific addition to a backpack and/or bushcraft kit. You didn't do these items justice. Sorry for the rant.... retired teacher here. C--

So, which ones did you want to see closer? I agree this did not turn out as well as I hoped. I should probably have kept it to 5 instead of 10. It is not easy when you are a one horse wagon. A cameraman would help.

Purses for men? And under 20 bucks??
Nah... Just get a backpack. Hold more, disperse the weight better... And most importantly, not walk around with a murse.

Try it. You might like it.

@@SurvivalOnPurpose There's just no reason to try it... Like I said. Get a backpack... Carry more, disperse the weight better... More compartments so all your junk isn't just bouncing around together...
There's no advantage to walking around with a man purse. Thanks tho!
