I had a good chat with the pilot of that lovely machine when it flew into Perth for refuelling a few months ago.
The co-pilot was as interested in my gyro as I was in the heli.
I saw it once at GLA, from my office - it's rather pretty! I also had a shot in an autogyro once - fascinating machines, and I can see why anyone interested in flying would have all sorts of questions :) I love your sign-in name, by the way!
@@DeadReckoner - I have some photos and some video of it taxiing out. He said we could take photos and we could look inside but that we weren't allowed to take photos of the inside. The table between the seats had a stack of newspapers. I guess it's a closely-guarded secret as to which newspapers the Royals read, eh?

Thanks :) Audio takes a lot of effort at times - it's nice to hear that it's been noticed! Sound is one thing that is easily overlooked, but poor quality audio is much more grating than sub-standard visuals.
We have the same issues at Elstree when He's down south.... apart from the RA(T) crossed the ATZ!!

Cool video, two things that bothered me though, 1. Tash, 2. Just butter on the toast! Apart from that a really interesting conversation between the Royal flight and ATC, considering there was dedicated sterile airspace in place why do they need a traffic service and surely all the Rainbow's destinations must have been passed along route beforehand so why did ATC not know where they were going or did the big boss just want to stop off for unscheduled toilet break? We'll never know.

Maybe the traffic service was just added piece of mind, in terms of security. I'm guessing the destination not being revealed (as well as which of the two RA(T)s they were using is another belts-and-braces security measure, though I'm sure there are people watching who know more than I do!
A RA(T) isn’t necessarily sterile, just restricted, also you make get people how haven’t read there NOTAMs properly, hence the request for a traffic service. Luckily the seemed to have stopped using as many RA(T)s for Royal Helicopter flights.
Why has he gone to Sandringham by helicopter? His mother would always take a train or car.
