  • Although the Days of Mischief gonna last 3 weeks but still the cost of the cosmetic is pretty high and still there is travelling spirit. I think there is too much IAP cosmetic.
Anyway just don't push yourself for too much candle grinding and spending money. Get what you want and if you can't get it, just pretend it never existed lol.
As for me (I might only get the 99 candle cape and not any other thing because I am probably not gonna use any of them).
    Thanks for watching my rant.

My feedback is that sky desperately needs more time-based achievements unrelated to cosmetics.
An example would be the ability to plant seeds in your shared space, and over time a tree would grow. Perhaps it takes a year for it to reach it's full size.
I would find it really rewarding to enjoy a massive tree that I watched grow from a sapling.
As it grows, maybe you can unlock new acessories for it like a rope swing or treehouse.
It would also be really touching if I could gift seeds to my friends so they could grow their own trees.
Cosmetics only give a fleeting sense of achievement, and are often prohibitively expensive. We need more ways to actually interact with the world.

I agree with this idea a lot, and I honestly think there should be quests to do (with friends, maybe also add a mode for solo players out there) to help the tree grow, plus, maybe even make the tree able to wilt after long periods of time of not getting taken care of.
And, to add an extra, maybe players can plant trees in the season areas and the season quest give can also help you out with quests after you've completed the season + already claimed hearts.

  • @ritasimoes5112
    @ritasimoes5112 Před 2 lety +238

The thing with Sky for me is that sky is a pretty game. Can we deny that people put a lot of work into making beautiful areas like the new Season of Flight area and deserve to get paid? No
But the thing with this game is that the gameplay is ultimately flawed. Old players have nothing to do, new players can't keep up. Some people are on iPhone and got extra seasons. Some people have money for iap's and others don't.
There is never an equal ground and no one is happy.
I feel like this is a huge waste of work. Because I don't really go to seasonal areas and they are beautiful. They really are but if there is no wax there why would I go?
Also if you create a game about friends and see people are not befriending other people because they are afraid to waste candles that is a problem. Even to the friends I love and hang on a lot with I don't wanna spend 5 candles on them because I'm saving for a travelling spirit. Also sometimes I even log out of the game because talking to people is "wasting my time" when I am supposed to be candle running.

I want to gift my friends hearts and not be scared that I'm gonna miss out of cool cosmetics or when I gift hearts be calculating if I'm able to still afford the travelling spirit. For a game meant to be about friendship and cooperation and giving what you have to help others (in eden and in hearts) its really teaching people that doing so is a risk. If you send that person a heart because they were really nice to you, you might not be able to get that upcoming cosmetic.

I said it once and I will say it again.
Sky, once people can focus/understand events/etc (basically once people aren't moths anymore), feels like a game without a game.
The game is basically all about just collecting those waxy candles and events honestly don't feel like events, they feel like an extra candle waster I need to be prepared for at all times.
If TGC would make ACTUAL events, with minigames, special quests, special currency you get from those minigames and the quests to buy event cosmetics (y'know event stuff literally ANY other game does), would make the game feel less like a chore and add at least SOMETHING that makes the game feel more like a game.

I think one more thing you "missed" in this is that it takes TIME to grind. A lot of time. Time is money, I guess, so in the end it /was/ mentioned, but you get me.
I always get shut down by folks defending TGC saying that oh if I'm so dissatisfied with the game being "chill" then I can just quit. I like the world Sky has. I want lore, fun times, to play with people and such. The beach ball spell was hella fun and it was just a ball we could kick around. I had a whole group of randoms at home join in with my friend and me to just kick it around, it shows how the simplest of activities could get us more involved and excited to socialize rather than just pumping out costly stuff.
TGC took a marketing turn and is constantly prioritizing the profit values over player satisfaction. The amount of bugs pushed out with updates despite beta testing showing the problems with them already is a good example of it. They push it out because they just don't want to delay their IAPs even by an hour.
Have to realize though that a lot of the people defending the company either have no insight to marketing and/or simply never had to count their penny to get by. It infuriates me, I started just not talking to people in game for months now because they are either oblivious, or just can't accept that someone might have a different opinion than them. The game that was supposed to be about socializing became the opposite to me.

The seasons are hard limited to 5 candles a day, even though we paid a lump sum to access it, in any other game, you can grind out battle pass systems for as long as you want but here that's not the case. We all know why they do it and they do it because suckers like myself feel like they're going to miss out (and that was the case when I bought season of little prince when there was only a week left, so I had to spend crap loads on season candles because if I didn't, I wouldn't even get to earn a cosmetic)
Initially while writing this, I was going to say 'it feels like' TGC is preying on vulnerable people that are susceptible to impulsively spending large amounts of money, but they just are. Generally I believe that it's ok for game companies to run monetisation like this, but it's especially egregious here. Sky is purely a social game no if's or buts, and with their steep prices for single items, limited availability, and low candle output, it all just runs counter-intuitive to what I feel like Sky's entire message is; acceptance of other people.
You CAN miss out on TS and Seasons, but if you do you're going to miss out on a lot of social interactions that you could have if you had grinded (spending 4-6 hours running through the entire game every single day, hoping all your friends are online every day to light your friendship light, ect ect ect ect every single day.) It's exhausting.
Thank you for hearing me vent if you've made it this far.

im surprised it took this long for a video criticizing TGC and their IAP practices called out. Maybe there has been a few in the past that I missed, but yeah. Lots of people give the game a pass because it's a social multiplayer game, but _any game_ is fun with friends! Sky COTL is pretty, definitely, but the lack of anything to do, repetitive loop, and their strategically expensive items are just abysmal.
Not to mention how they never give out compensation for severe bug/glitches/server outages. It might seem trivial, but I think giving out free candles / a heart for those issues would at least be great PR and raise customer satisfaction.
Edit: i dropped the game (for the third time) and rated it 2 stars on the playstore. i enjoyed it for what it was and the beautiful scenery, but the game is just too much pressure if you dare want to own cosmetics from ts and complete constellations. or make friends.

Not only are the price to candle ratio BIZARRE, but for free to play players, it takes days to get half the amount of candles needed for one item.
They need to start focusing on bug fixes, and price ranges.. it’s getting to a point where i have uninstalled and reinstalled sky like 30 different times cause of how boring it has gotten..

Events are one of the reasons why I stopped playing Sky.
First, candle farming sucks, I don't have enough free time in my life to speed 3 hours farming 30 candles everyday.
Second, Gaining hearts is really annoying, usually I just used spirits to get hearts but eventually I realized I would have to start making friends or else I would end up broke, they should add something where every week the spirits hearts come back so solo players can get more, instead of forcing you to befriend people if you want more then 5 cosmetics, which can also create this eerie feeling that they're not your friends, and your not their's, but you both know that you can make hearts by being "Friends," which makes it all feel, fake in a way, which it most likely is.
Third, it just started getting repetitive, even with the events, (That you have to wait a few weeks for to fully enjoy) it still felt like I was repeating the same cycle over and over again, Beat the game, candle farm, candle farm, candle farm, maybe make 1 new friend, give some of my candles to a spirit, Beat the game, see there's a new event that requires me to candle farm EVEN MORE, candle farm.
Fourth the events, the events feel like a way for TGC to get money faster, the prices are always stupidly high and new players will probably assume it'll take too long to farm candles and hearts (Which it usually is too long) causing them to pay money to get candles faster (I said only candles faster because that is all I can remember as something that you can pay for, I do not know if hearts can be paid for), because pretty much no one will have candles saved up unless they're a pro, and even then that's a small chance of someone casually having 200 candles and fifty hearts in their pocket, events without all of the rewards can be pretty fun sometimes, but usually they're just ok, and because cosmetics are included it sucks the fun out of it because people don't get excited for new events, they get excited for new cosmetics.

Cosmetics are literally useless lmao, the IAP ones are basically just merch. Does buying cosmetics give you an advantage in this game? No. Everyone who isn’t a moth has already beaten the game with the same experience regardless of being f2p or not. You save up candles because you want, not need, those cosmetics, it’s from your own desire. TGC never forced us to buy cosmetics, the game doesn’t do crap to you if you don’t have cosmetics. The issue here is the gameplay and how boring the events are. Instead of changing anything in cosmetics, they should add mini-games and stuff like that so that players can engage in events and not just make the new areas that are just for eye candy.

After awhile Sky can get very repetitive. I love the game a lot, but I can only take so much grinding and can only spend so much money when I don’t have the time to grind for candles. Having more than 3 hearts at a time for me is insanely lucky because very few of my friends light my star back & I’ve already bought all the hearts from spirits. I feel like if TGC had events where you could earn cosmetics, hearts or candles by doing minigames or something it’d be a lot more enjoyable. Like in the valley races you race to earn candles, why can’t we have more fun games like that where you solve puzzles or complete whatever little quests they give you to earn candles, hearts or cosmetics? It’d be so much more fun to do a quest for a spirit to earn a new cape instead of having to grind 50 hearts for the same cape design in a different color.

I understand that Sky is fundamentally built differently when compared to a typical adventure or sandbox game as it focuses on the social aspect in games. Meeting people and hanging around with them is fun and all but once you've explored all there is to explore in the game, there's only so much fun to be had if you keep experiencing the game in the same way. Adding even more cosmetics, half of which are locked behind a paywall doesn't really refresh the game, especially when players settle on a certain look and don't adopt a hoarding behavior trying to unlock everything.
I will agree that this game needs more social stuff to pass the time in an exciting manner. Seasons add new areas sure but if all we can do in these areas is sit and fly around then it's the same stuff that the rest of the game already offers, which means it's gradually going to grow stale and boring for most seasoned players.
Add small competitions, fun little puzzles, spice areas up into potential playgrounds, not just mini-hubs that people sit and sleep on. Introduce hard-to-beat puzzles like the ones we had in the Trials of Prophecy but award the players with unique and free cosmetics in the end. A different way to earn vanity other than grinding for candles. Add areas where making an acquaintance is encouraged in order to really enjoy, rather than promoting socializing via daily quests. It doesn't have to feel "arcadey" even... sky's the limit pretty much (no pun intended) when it comes to making content because the game's foundation is already unique. They still have time to save the game and keep it relevant, I hope they don't waste the chance.

    @-randomuser-4897 Před 2 lety +6

    Exactly.
I appreciate the effort they put into graphisms and areas, and certain mechanics, but as a game that is supposed to create friendships, this doesn't add up.
This is dangerously starting to look like the Yandere Sim drama, where the devs were working on almost useless stuff instead of actually focusing on the main problem.
Here's things that i consider more important than creating new seasons:
To make friends, you need candles. Problem is, when you already spent them and can't befriene them, you can loose the person easily, especially with the servers constantly changing. Happened to me multiple times.
And i'm not even talking about when you end up not getting along with someone anymore and spent 20+ candles on your friendship tree for nothing. Now multiply that by the amount of people you don't interact with anymore.
Now for other stuff, events or not:
For spirits, there's only one thing free, and that's the emote tier 1. You'll sometimes need to spend 40+ hearts on a cape you'll never wear to get a tier 2-3 cape, and the amount of candles/ hearts you need to unlock ultimate gift is ridiculous.
I've done a bit of math, and it can go up to more than 700+ candles.
For the paid cosmetics, some are incredibly expensive. 20$ on an umbrella or a piece of clothing...? Plus when there are multiple cosmetics as expensive. You can get it irl for cheaper. This is just a game where you have no way of selling it back. And seriously, ONE event costing 80$... Way too far.
And of course the seasons that are only available on certain platforms. In a way, it can seem nice, but most players, including myself, are disappointed of how much we're missing, and sometimes even dislike our "exclusive" stuff. This is just making players feel jealous and discriminated.
Here are in my opinion a few ways to solve these problems:
    Friendships:
    - I think friending someone should be free. Maybe you'd need to spend 1 candle to THEN start unlocking the rest of it. Gifts could be only 2 candles, encouraging players to send gifts more, therefore interact more.
Also, upgraded emotes from a spirit on the friendship tree should be free in my opinion. At least one player already payed for the upgraded version, why make it more expensive ?
    Props and cosmetics:
-Some props, like the pillow from season of season of assembly, or cosmetics, like isle hair, should be completely free. Or at least a few more like these should exist. New players have otherwise a great disavantage, already having to grind when they barely started.
-Paid cosmetics should be cheaper. More players will be able to afford them, therefore compensating the lowered price.
-Spells or certain cosmetics should be cheaper and/or changed places, so players could spend less candles on stuff they'll never use.
    Seasons:
-The different seasons for each platforms should be accessible for everyone. I think a slight change in the gameplay (switch/ ios) is already enough and is useful for certain situations.
-TGC should avoid making all these new seasons. It's making them loose some time and energy, they should actually make older seasons come back, recycling the data, enabling new players to get certain stuff they weren't able to have access to (tho maybe not all seasons so older players could still be rewarded) and saving time for TGC to focus on bigger problems.
Please TGC, hear us out. It'll be better for you and us to pay more attention to the main issues, and it could make the game be more exciting for both short and long term. Graphisms are nice and we appreciate your efforts, but in my opinion there is other stuff you must pay attention to more.
Have a nice day everyone, please take care 💗

Honestly, even when I was a moth I found the game sorta boring. My veteran friends would just bring me to candle runs and nothing more, they just speed run everything and don't even talk much. I wanted to uninstall the app, until I met someone that made the game worth it but after some time we talked less and focused on candle running more. My friend became stressed with the game since it takes us 3-4 hours to run almost everything and I really feel bad for him staying up until 3 or 4 am just to run. I've been playing for a year and literally have no time to talk to my friends and school got me stressed out so I don't have much time to even run. Events might've been exciting before, but the excitement goes away after getting the cosmetics. We only get cosmetics for our own desires and all and rarely use it but it's still part of the fun but after some time it became more and more expensive which just took the fun out of everything.I mean yeah it can give us the feeling of accomplishment but now I wonder if it's even worth it. I've seen my friends quit because they no longer have time to candle run, they said the game is getting more and more repetitive, the ts and events are too much to handle. I just want more people to appreciate the game and have time to spend with others not to feel stressed over candle running and events.

agree. they started these events from December,2020. I started Sky and Cr everyday before it. but It took a half year to complete normal constellation. I can say new players can't afford to complete the constellation. now they prepare a event that requires us at least 100 more candles every 1 or 2 months. the only way to save candles is skiping some limited cosmetics or waiting for a Ts we already have unlocked without real money...

I would like to have more information about the main lore of the game, i mean, the events are interesting with all the spirits explaining about what they did when they were alive, but i would like to know if... Everyone indeed died when the corruption of the king happened, how it happends, or idk
At the first time I played the game, i was hopping to know more about all this stuff but then i got pretty distracted about all this things like "save your candles for traveling spirits" or "better you finish your constelations to have special rewards!!" and if you don't have your character well dressed pretty much everyone think you're not interesting at all (and they're right)

Take, for example, the upcoming Days of Mischief in live: if you bought all IAPs you would spend a total of 81$- let me repeat, **81$**. You can buy so much food, drinks, etc. with that kind of money. The items are all WAY too overpriced. 9.99$ for a cape? 14.99$ for some antlers (Days of Feast)? Are you kidding me? Either you have a REALLY stable income to spend all that money, or you are not on equal ground to others and have to give up the cosmetics- which is really sad, considering they are making the game feel like a "collect all cosmetics" game rather than a social one.

I agreed with this. After Season of the Little Prince, I did grow tired of playing due to grinding for extra candles since I learned that Season Candles add to your Normal Candle count. I did manage the buy the Cosmetics I wanted for that Season as most did appeal to me.
Then I took a break and waited for Season of Birb (Flight) to begin. Honestly, I was excited before it came, but now? Eh. The Cosmetics are nice, and I do want the Birb on one of the Spirit's heads, but it sadly doesn't appeal to me much. Not to mention, I too am watching how I spend my Candles cause I wanna be a Rich Moth like the Rich Spirit in SotLP! lol
But yeah, I saw the prices for Days of Mischief and I honestly have empathy for those who dig the Cosmetics but can not afford the prices.
I'm not into Sp00ky Month that much, so it doesn't bother me, but eeee the prices are a bit inflated.
I'm trying to stack candles just to get the Blue Capes in each constellation I've seen them in as well as get certain props and pants! And even that is a chore.

I personally despise the chevron system and I also think it is the root of such increased prices , yes it’s a free game but it’s going towards becoming “ everything nice will cost u real money since we make the game free and if u are not a veteran who’s rich u are going to be forced to use real money if u want our special edition stuff” , it’s ridiculous …. I would love to be able to stop for a second and be able to enjoy the game under other perspectives, I want minigames to enjoy with my friends, maybe even areas dedicated just for playing (playground style), literally anything because it’s such an entertaining and cute game but it almost feels like my time is just going to waste, as if I’m just replicating irl’s capitalism but just to look fancy…
And the season of Flight, while pretty and all, is really just about cosmetics for me… I do enjoy spending time in the area because it’s pretty and I love flying, but it’s not enough, it feels like there’s no real quality, just another way to milk money from players

Thank goodness that tgc staff is making new contents for us skykids, but sometimes it becomes a chore rather than entertainment. Maybe they can give us a 1 month interval (exceptions for events like Christmas, New Year, Halloween, or any big events) for every event in order for us to save candles intended for ts and new cosmetics. Lately, it's not very friendly for new skykids and busy people.

I hate how tgc goes on about "giving back to others" while charging their community $10 dollars a month for adventure pass which is practically vital, almost $100 per "event" to get any of the mostly useless cosmetics, and making players spend over 3 hours on the game per day to get a decent amount of candles or achieve anything in the game in a timely manner. I get that they need money but if they lowered the prices im sure they'd get more money in the long run and players would be a lot happier. They even go as low as looking to see which items players like the most JUST so they can make it a iap or ap exclusive item. Ntm, TGC only gives you 30 candles for $10, which seems okay, until you realize one in game item can cost anywhere from 60-300 candles on average.
I think TGC should be more generous towards players. They can still have iap's, but they shouldn't be super expensive and necessary to complete an important part of the game. They should also at LEAST give out *free* candles and hearts or even cosmetics to players during holidays using the mail system, like love nikki, so we aren't grinding on christmas just to get their expensive "luxury days of fortune pack". Like sorry tgc, but making us pay 30+ dollars for your "gift"... isnt a gift. Honestly they're extremely greedy while claiming to stand for a game about "selflessness" and "giving and not expecting anything in return" and its downright hypocritical

    I fully agree.
I enjoy the new maps and small quests along with it and saving up to buy something does have a sertain satisfaction to it. But it's still not fully justifiable.
I do two world's every day wich takes about 2 hours, I can save a pretty decent amount with that if I have enough time. Candle running all realms takes about 7/8 hours. It's not justifiable to spend so many hours on a game to just collect wax. I'm lucky to have the time to do that every now and then, but we all have our actual lives going on too.
I'd love to see a daily quests system where with an event you do a quest to achieve a cosmetic, no candles no hearts just complete the quest. It'll be fun if it's difficult so after completing it once you can help your friends that just started playing to compete it too. Wich gives dubbele satisfaction as you now helped someone else achieve the cosmetics and can now wear it together.
I'm thinking profecy trials style or something of that sort.
