Does anybody know of you have to do the parking brake part on the 2001 E38? Other guides I’ve seen don’t mention it. I don’t have the little box to the left of my steering wheel either.

actually:
1) there are four (4) screws attaching the glove box "roof" piece - 3 along the
front and 1 to the back left.
2) my "A" pillars have side curtain air bags so I had to remove the "HPS" plastic covers then remove the T25 screws from each A pillar.
