Chinese historical dramas are very entertaining, because it involves comedy, romance, love, action, and tragedy. All categories in one. I love the outfits the most and the displays of the architecture and landscape, gives a sense of what ancient China looks like. ❤️
Those palace maids were rich nobles daughters kept as hostages up to 3000 - 4000 a time. Hundreds died a year from starvation, abuse and overwork. It's a slow burn, but starting with Ming's willingness to take the lead and stand by Li, the Prince started to grow to love her from the marriage ceremony.

I like the princess too, but she behaves like she's 12. Hopefully, her character will develop later on in the drama as she becomes more aware of her new life and surroundings.

Watching this for the second time and noticed that the writers created a bigger universe than just this one drama implies. I mean, the 8 prince Mo LiangChen from Eternal love is mentioned in this drama, so that's one kingdom. THen we have this kingdom, then MIngju's kingdom (sorry, can never remember those names), and now I'm also watching drama " Your Sensibility My Destiny" where Mingju's brother Kaerbi appears. (Not to mention that Li Qian mentioned the kingdom Nulu, Nalu, or something like that, in previous episodes)
So that's at least 3 different dramas all connected in a way. (Although it's strange to see the same emperor being emperor in ALL three dramas! The guy has a lot of kingdoms to rule. LOL)
